I really enjoyed getting to know Dr. Mariano! At each visit , I believe that she treated me, Susan, as the whole human being, not just Susan's broken ankle. I needed her to know that I expected to be ready to run 2 5Ks, 1 in March, 1 in April, the Red Rose Run in June, and hopefully my 1st half marathon ever later in the year - even if I am a walker for that event. I think she grasped during my 1st visit that my mental health is contingent upon my being able to move, exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and because she wanted my healing to take place in a reasonable amt. of time she set clear parameters for me. By that I mean she gave me a boot, and said - no running, then the brace which fit beautifully, and suggested I walk no more than 1.5 miles, and yesterday after viewing my xray, I was given permission to run w/o the brace, and run hills, and work out in the way that would prepare me for a race in March or April. I really appreciated how the whole me was treated. I like the direct, and confident manner in which Dr. Mariano treated me, her patient. I visited Dr. Mariano for a second opinion about what exactly is going on with my right foot. She was very caring and patient with me as I have a fairly complicated medical history. Dr. Mariano is such an asset to the team of doctors at OAL. She has been treating my 91 year old dad for his 91 year old feet. She is kind and patient with my dad which is so much appreciated. My dad recently had some swelling in his feet and ankles which concerned her. Becky S. was able to get my dad in with his PCP the next day. I'm thankful Dr. Mariano was on top of this. Dad has an artificial heart valve so this could have become a serious issue. As a side note, Dr. Mariano has a great sense of humor. The patients love her and she's fun to work with as well!
