I could not be happier that my pediatrician recommended Dr. Ellis for an ongoing asymmetrical tonsil problem my 4 year old was experiencing. I would highly recommend Dr. Ellis. He completed my thyroid surgery and now a few years later, I am seeing him for reflux issues. After seeing many many doctors this year for GERD symptoms, he was the FIRST doctor to actually take a few minutes and learn about what's been going on with me to try and help me figure out why and how to address it instead of all the other doctors who just give me "blanket google advice" that wasn't working. I initially began seeing Dr. Ellis for my thyroid after my previous PCP was not taking my thyroid disorder serious and denied my request to be referred to an ENT/ Endocrinologist. On a whim I booked Dr Ellis-- best decision ever! Dr. Ellis is very sharp and knowledgeable. If you have or suspect thyroid dysfunction I highly recommend him! He also is a surgeon and is not scared to put his skills to use. He is great. He has done my tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and septoplasty. I also referred my ex to him and he did his tonsils, adenoids, and septum too. I can breathe so much better now and no longer wake up gasping for air at night. If you have issues with your tonsils, sinuses, thyroid.. go see him. You won't regret it. I’m from out of state but I needed surgery to remove a lipoma on my neck.I was going to be in KC for a few weeks, so I attempted to find a doctor there. I was able to make an appointment for a Tuesday and then have the surgery on Thursday. Dr. Ellis was so professional, kind, and patient. Appointments were thorough but quick and I never had to wait long to see the doctor. Surgery went well and I was really pleased with the way he chose to make the incision. It takes forever in CA to get an appointment with any doctor and then forever again for surgery to be scheduled. Holy smoke. Seriously, one of the most impressive specialty offices I've ever been to. Dr. Ellis answered all my questions that I'd been asked over the years regarding one of my conditions and a few others. When the lights went out (it appeared to be neighborhood wide) he didn't hesitate. He whipped out his headlight, got someone else to hold something and took a culture. Just wow. I'm not sure what the other reviewers were talking about with the front desk being rude, but at the Overland Park, they were friendly! I mean not like over the top, but still kind. Dr. Ellis was on time and I appreciated but not having to wait long. I had to bring my baby with me and Dr. Ellis was comfortable conducting the appointment while I had to nurse my baby. I had been suffering from tonsil stones for many years and he genuinely listened when I explained the severe negative impact this condition was having on my life. Instead of suggesting just another temporary solution, he wanted to move forward with a tonsillectomy so I could have total relief from this problem. I now see why Dr. Ellis was recommended by my general practitioner. I'm almost two weeks out from my surgery and he's personally called to as see I'm doing. I have had a chronic sinus infection for 3 months due to a bad AC vent left at the bottom of the AC unit at work that is on top of the roof. I had surgery on Wednesday. I could tell when I got out of the recovery room the pressure was gone and so was the double vision I had. Thank you bringing me back to normal. Best ENT in town. Dr. Ellis probably saved my life when he discovered an aggressive fungus in my sinuses by going the extra step of a culture. (It probably isn't extra for him, but no other doctor had ever bothered to be so thorough.) What's more, he explained that the fungus doesn't colonize in people with normal immune systems. He ordered blood work that verified an immune deficiency and explained other health issues that were dismissed by other physicians.
