Edited on 4/18 just to add that I went for my second follow up appointment with Dr. Kouser, and it was just as awesome as the first appointment. Highly highly recommend seeing him if you're looking for a kind doctor that listens to you. Yesterday was my first time seeing this doctor and the practice itself, and I was really impressed. The wait wasn't long at all, even with new patient paperwork. The entire office staff, from the receptionist to the lab and X-ray techs, were extremely kind and nice (which is huge to someone like me who has an aversion to going to a doctor, but especially a new doctor I have never seen before). I wish I could remember the nurse's name who took me back and did all the vitals, because she was a complete sweetheart. The lab tech was AMAZING. I didn't even feel the needle going in, and she was so quick and efficient at her job that it was over before I knew it. I wish she could do all my blood work everywhere I ever need it lol. As for Dr. Kouser.. wow. He was friendly and approachable. He LISTENED to me, really listened. I felt seen and heard for the first time in forever. It was refreshing to not be rushed and to feel like he actually cares about you as a patient. I appreciated that he took the time to sit down and actually talk to me about my issues as well as what his thoughts were on them and the next steps we need to take to get to the bottom of whatever it is that is going on. I felt like he would really try to get to the bottom of it and figure out not only what's wrong but what to do to deal with it after. It's rare for me to fully trust a doctor so quickly, but I feel I can trust Dr. Kouser. Just the overall vibe he gives off is what you want from your doctor. Today was my first ever visit with the doctor and the practice itself, so my review is solely based off just this first experience.I'm one of those people who has a slight phobia when it comes to doctors, especially new doctors. So, I went in with my anxiety high like usual when having to face this fear lol but the lady at the front desk was super kind and nice. Everyone I dealt with, honestly, from the receptionist and nurse to the X-ray and lab techs were super kind and nice. I really really appreciated all of them.Dr. Kouser was amazing. He actually listened to me and took my thoughts into consideration, then he took time to explain his thought process on my issues and what he thought the best steps would be (and better yet, WHY). I felt seen and heard. It was refreshing not to be rushed; he actually sits and talks with you!I'm really glad I ended up at this practice. Dr. Aqueel Kouser has been my Rheumatologist for about 10 years. I am very appreciative of the care and treatments he has given me. Dr. Kouser will listen to you, he will give test that show how much inflammation is in your body, Bone Density Testing, X-Rays, Blood testing, sleep studies, etc. One particular thing I am thankful for is Dr. Kouser has given me many cortisone shots in both my knees. He takes his time making sure of the precise location and they truly do not hurt. My knees are always better after receiving the cortisone shots. Dr. Kouser is an A1 Rheumatologist. I am so sorry that these other patients had bad encounters with the doctors but my experience was the complete opposite. I found Dr Kouser very thorough and understanding. He answered all my questions and really seemed like he had all the time in the world for me. I honestly feel that I am in the best hands possible. It was my first visit. I have been diagnosed with RA. Before meeting Dr Kouser I was frightened about the uncertainty of life with this diagnosis. I want to start with my first interactions with the office, the ladies I spoke to were all very kind and sympathetic.I had my first appointment with Dr. Kouser telehealth, I was very apprehensive thinking it would be very impersonal. I was surprised as to how easy and smooth he made our appointment. It felt very personal, and not the least bit rushed. I was able to voice all my concerns he listened and came up with a “health plan” to get the ball rolling. I appreciate that he wants to do his OWN labs and find out exactly what is going on with my declining health. He did mention a sleep study, FOLLOWED by it was totally my choice, there was zero pressure. The reason he brought it up was sleep issues and autoimmune go hand in hand. I think it’s a plus he and his wife are both knowledgeable in the field of medicine. I’m hopeful Dr. Kouser will continue to exceed my expectations. Not even 24 hours after our appointment I had a voicemail with all my labs and tests scheduled. The office staff is definitely on top of things and have made things so easy for me. Dr Kouser has been my Dr for several years when I came to him I was in so much pain .He ran several test to see what was the best RA med for me and I started to feel better since then I have been on several different meds RA has no cure but Dr Kouser keeps up on all the new meds and changes when needed he also does blood work every 3 months to make sure the neds are not affecting you he so sweeta and understanding and he takes time to listen to you he is not a Dr that is in a hurry to get you in and out I would recommend him 100%and would not go anywhere else I have had several breakdowns at my appointment but he calms me down and let's me know everything will be alright I just love him to death

from the front of waiting until you meet Dr. Kousser and his staff, you know you're in a place where you'll be treated with kindness, respect, and be listened to. I've gone to Dr for four years now and I will travel from Gatlinburg for his assistance any day.. I do appreciate his thoroughness, and his assisting nurses who join him and taking care of the people in this area. It might take you a little while to get in, but then again, it might not. Don't hesitate to call or get your doctor to call for a reference. it's a place of peace and respect. I had so many things wrong with me when I first went, and now I am moving, walking, and the things I didn't, even know were wrong with me were discovered, but this doctor. So thank you so much Doc … You were so kind even to think of my mom as she was living with us for three years. She just passed and your kindness has been truly memorable. !!

My husband has been going to Dr. Kouser for almost a year. He is a great doctor, he listens to his concerns, and cares about his pain. But most of all Dr. Kouser goes above and beyond to make sure my husband has a certain medicine that helps him the most. Dr. Aqueel is a wonderful doctor. He is not a drug doctor he has my respect. He's sincerely concerned about you're health and does everything possible to keep pain somewhat manageable while still being safe and keeping you as healthy as possible . Listen to his advice take all meds as prescribed . Keep you're appointments it's vital for you're health and overall Well being. I have ra, fibro, and a few other mild things. I live with chronic pain and limited to what I can do now . I first went to doctor with a very closed mind and very sad I had almost given up . I was suffering. He listened to me and has helped me. I'm not cured no but I have made lifestyle changes in diet , exercise and I take the common treatment for ra and it has helped. So keep an open mind don't give up . Dr . Will listen to you're concerns and do what is best for you even if you don't like what he says at least give his advice a chance he's there to help you. Thank you Dr. And staff for being compassionate which lacks in most offices these days. Love My Dr.Kouser..He came to my rescue after suffering for a Little over 7 years, after running from Dr. to another It took Dr. Kouser to find out it was Lyme disease. I call him my angel..and always will..if he had not came to my rescue than I feel strongly I would not be here today! Great Dr. to have in your corner if you have serious sleep problems. It's hard to find a Doc. that actually listens to their patients before any diagnosis is made. Even better as a Disabled Veteran I recently discovered that the Doc is V.A. / Tri West approved for the outsourcing of Veterans. A huge plus for local Veterans. He seemed very educated and highly intelligent in his field of expertise. He is recommending a sleep study but is letting us choose the dr we want to see closer to home. Dr Kouser and his staff have always been friendly and very helpful. He and his nurse assistant has helped me get ahold on my RA and other problems and have answered all of my questions. And have a portal you can email dr kouser if you have a problem. He will email you back that same day with a solution. Yes they take a lot of blood but that is nessassary to get a proper diganosis. Dr. Kouser is an excellent doctor. After some initial problems getting use to each other, we are able to communicate very well. He is a kind, caring professional who takes time to listen to you. He has a set pattern of examination and recording his thoughts, but once he is finished with that, he will listen to any questions and answers them. I have been able to talk to him about most anything and he has given me a lot of advice in dealing with my rheumatoid arthritis. Yes, you will wait a while in the waiting room, don't go expecting to walk right in, but the wait is worth it. I would recommend him to anyone needing an excellent RA doctor.Patient Submitted Review

Dr. Kouser took over my care after I moved to TN. I had to drive an hour one way to get to him and it was an all day affair, as I had to go to the hospital for treatments after my appointment. But it was all worth it! He is a sweet, gentle man who spends enough time with his patients to make them feel they are his only one. A few extra minutes waiting to be called back means he is taking his time with someone else - just like he'll do for you. I even traveled from KY to see him one last time before I could establish a new dr. in my new town. He was always available to help me in any way.
