Easy scheduling, easy check in, nurses great, Dr St Claire excellent! Addition 12/20/24: I have had multiple neck & lower back surgeries since 2014, as recently as 4 months ago. I’m writing this review on the behalf of my wife who had a complex multi level lumbar disc disease with nerve impingement. She had a mini laminectomy 12 years ago in the same region. She had epidural injections here in Ohio as well as Florida plus oral medications and physical therapy. Ultimately we returned to our home town and she saw Dr Selvon for surgery which required 2 nights stay at their beautiful new state of art facility. She had multi level laminectomy + fusion and bone graft. She was walking next day. She is now 6 months past surgery and has done wonderfully well. I am a new Man. I am a physician. I Under went a technically difficult surgery and came away much better than I started. I could not walk more than 2 blocks without weakness, joint and nerve pain. He is absolutely the best neurosurgeon in Ohio! I was in severe pain for 14 years. Nothing helped and no one would do surgery on me. Not even Cleveland clinic. I discovered him by accident. Finding Dr. St. Claire was a blessing. I initially met him when he was 4 years old in Trinidad and I was 17. We grew up on adjacent streets in our home village and our fathers did business together. Having been 13 years older, our lives went in separate ways for many decades. For the past 20 years or so I have suffered with excruciating back pain. This went from my mid to lower back, through my buttocks and down my legs. To say I had sciatic pain was a large understatement. This was the kind of pain I thought I would have to live with and would ultimately be my demise. I also had lost my grip and had pain in my arms and hands. My daughter insist I seek help to see if there were even options for treatment. I met with several doctors in my home state of California. All of whom had bandaid treatments that barely took the edge off. I wasn’t making the progress I hoped and felt defeated in my quest for a good doctor. In February of 2023 I visited my younger brother in Trinidad. He mentioned Selvon, and that he was a doctor. I searched my brain to remember the little boy I had met as a teenager. We had no idea what kind of doctor he was. My brother called Dr. Saint Claire late at night to ask. He miraculously picked up the phone and I was able to chat with him about my ongoing issues. He told me he is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spine surgery. What were the chances of that?! I sent Dr. Saint Claire my MRI, he had me book an appointment as soon as I could, in March I flew to Lima, Ohio with my daughter for my consultation. Dr. Saint Claire found issues that the other doctors hadn’t even mentioned. Not only did I need a very extensive spinal surgery, I needed an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. He booked me for both surgeries that day. My ACDF went perfectly. He did the whole process in an hour and a half. I was up and walking within a few hours of surgery. This surgery is very uncomfortable as the doctor needs to enter from the front of the neck. I am 4 months post op and feel great. The pain I used to feel in my arms and hands was gone when I woke up. I have my grip back and feel a lot stronger than before. The recovery was tough but expected, this procedure was life changing for me. For my lower back, Dr. Saint Claire performed a spinal decompression from L1-S2 and an ulterior fusion. During the surgery, the doctor found that I had extensive bone spurs and scar tissue that had grown into my nerves. This was the main cause of my pain. Dr. Saint Claire performed my surgery perfectly with no complications. He was able to remove all of the scar tissue and bone spurs. When I woke up, the pain that had gone down my legs for 2 decades was gone and I wept. It was a miraculous feeling and I felt so incredibly lucky and blessed to have reconnected with Dr. Saint Claire. I am now about 8 weeks post op from my spine surgery and 4 months post op from the ACDF. It has been a touch recovery but I feel amazing. This was absolutely life changing for me. I feel like a brand new person. I never thought that I would be able to live my life fully again. I can’t express how grateful I am to Dr. Saint Claire and I would go above and beyond to refer anyone who is seeking an orthopedic surgeon.Patient Submitted Review

I was losing the use of my arms due to cervical nerve compression. I had severe pain, burning and weakness in both arms. He performed my surgery and I am pain free. I am back to my normal activity level. I had excellent care from his team. I was very frightened to have this surgery but his team explained everything that I was going to experience. Dr St Claire used an anterior approach and I have no scar. I am very grateful for this humble man and his skills. I am also grateful for the excellent care provided by everyone on his team. Words cannot express my gratefulness to Dr. Selvon St. Clair and his staff at Orthopaedic Institute of Ohio. Dr. St. Clair has done two surgeries for me. My first surgery was for my back in 2016 and my second surgery for my neck in 2020. At both times, he and his staff were caring and sympathetic to the pain I was experiencing. They were prompt with answering questions in person and with returning phone calls. Both surgeries were successful with speeding recoveries and no sign of infection. Best of all, he took care of the pain that no steroid shots, physical therapy, chiropractor, massages, and pain meds could attempt (yes, I’ve tried them all). I got a second opinion from him and we did surgery and it was the best decision I've made. The hospital in lima was also wonderful. The staff there were Soo nice and caring. I've had an ACDF done by Dr St Clair with excellent results. I had pain in my shoulder area for the past 5 years, not even able to lift a coffee pot or sleep on my left side. Immediately after my surgery I could lift a huge full mug of ice water in the air and at night sleep comfortably. I wouldn't even have known I had surgery if not for the tiny scar. I’m just so amazed with my back surgery. Was so scared going in knowing a back surgery. Fearing the pain and how long would be laid up. I just can’t believe a little discomfort for a few days. Up moving taking walks just unbelievable! Went for my 6 wks check up Dr St Clair said everything looked good on my X-rays to keep up the walking. Got to go back to work with no restrictions. Had a great experience today. Staff was very friendly. The wait wasn’t very long either . Dr St Clair was amazing. Super honest and I loved that most about him. I can’t thank Dr. St Clair enough. My neck was causing me so much pain I thought my life as I knew it was about over. I went to New Albany to see the big city doctors. I felt like I was being processed like cattle and that doctor wanted to treat only half the problem. I went back to St Clair who proposed a more comprehensive solution to address the whole problem. It worked! I was treated with care and compassion; the surgery center at OIO was top notch. I couldn’t have been more comfortable with the way they took care of me. this doctor is a life saver he did everything he promised he would. my surgery was a life changer for the first time in four years i am as pain free as i had ever hoped for. i had given up hope of ever being able to have any chance of liveing somewhat of a normal life he changed that. every doctor i had ever seen always said a year recovery with rods and screws in my low back doctor st claire said eight weeks i really thought he was crazy but with no choice i went with surgery and in seven to eight weeks just as he said i am a changed man my back is feeling great but the merical is my leg pain of over four years is gone thank you jesus for a fellow like doctor st claire for fixing my pain thankyou doc you are wonderful.Read more
