Had an ankle full of arthritis and a stress fracture and advances in ankle replacements spurred me to get it fixed after over 20 yrs of pain. A friend who had an ankle replacement sent me to Dr Sherman. I got a second opinion and that Doc gave a glowing review of Dr Sherman! He had to fix a second fracture of my fibula due to an avulsion fracture I never knew about by doing a bone graft, in addition to the ankle replacement. He patiently answered all of my questions. Within a week of my injury, had a diagnosis and plan for treatment that included surgery. Dr. Sherman was kind, knowledgeable, and available to answer questions. I had to have a ankle replacement due to a failed previous surgery from another practice.Dr. Sherman put me back together again. dr. Sherman is very knowledgeable, understanding compassionate person .answered all my questions even if it was the same question over and over .no infections healed in a timely manner.. As usual, there was practically no waiting! They took off my cast & did X-rays quickly and then Dr Sherman came in and showed us the X-rays. It looked really good and the recovery went well. He explained the X-rays and showed us a before and after picture. He told me I’d get a boot now and that I can practice walking on my foot now. He asked if we had any questions and we didn’t. Then Paul came in and fit the boot and we were off. Great visit!! Dr Clyde even popped in and said hi to us. Very nice to be remembered when he has so many patients. It is never easy when you are injured. Unfortunately, I tore my Achilles tendon for the 2nd time which was an overwhelming experience at age 53! My ankle is healing well, I'm on my 2 feet 2.5 months post surgery. Still need a cane when ankle gets tired but considering how bad the breaks were, I'm a happy camper! I have a bionic ankle, as I call it, but I'm walking and driving and that's a very good outcome that I wasn't sure would happen. Dr Sherman gave me back my independence. I just had ankle ligaments surgery and an arthroscopic surgery by Dr. Sherman. Let me just say, it is absolutely worth it! 2 weeks post op and I don’t have that chronic pain that I was having before surgery. My sutures were very nicely stitched and not sloppy at all. I have very high hopes for my recovery. Dr. Sherman is very professional, he will listen to your concerns and answer them to the best of his knowledge! I came from the ER where I received little help. I was advised to see an orthopedic doctor. Which I was able to do while waiting on the holding area. Dr Sherman was able to tell me I had acute sciatica and I needed to see a spine doctor. He also prescribed steroids and a muscle relaxer to get the inflammation & muscle spasms reduced. I was in incredible pain. Dr Sherman didn't send me away like the ER at Penn State Medical. I'm still in pain, but it's manageable & I am set up to see a spine doctor for further evaluation. Dr Sherman performed my 4th surgery from an Achilles tear. Osteomyelitis was diagnosed months after I healed and he Operated on me scraping and meticulously taking away any evidence of the infection. Days later, I was told my a infectious disease Doctor that they were having a difficult time coming up with an antibiotic that my body wasn’t immune to and it was a possibility I might lose my leg. Dr Sherman came in and reassured me that we were nowhere near that point and he was as confident as he could be that he got it all out. Seven days later, I was home with a pic line for 2 months and have both of my legs thanks to Dr Sherman. He is an outstanding Doctor. He and Dr Michael Flood are who I attribute to healing me. My experience was great. He listened to me about my pain and then started treating and ending in surgery. Had my surgery to repair my foot January 2 2025. I did all my follow up physical therapy for 3 months and as of today I have no pain in my daily activities.Before my surgery I struggled to get thru work day walking.
