Discovering I did not live nearby he called over to their occupational therapy dept and arranged an immediate appointment so I would not have to make another trip. I had my first appointment today with Dr Talsania...I never met a doctor before who had such ENERGY!! He did the exam and had me stay for an EMG test which I had been waiting months to have done elsewhere. Afterwards he discussed the findings with us, explaining in detail what needs to be done to alleviate my ongoing hand pain. My surgery is scheduled and I have the utmost confidence in his ability. Had a 4 month post-op appointment today. He took a few measurements and said I was doing great. I'm so glad I found Dr. Talsania 5 years ago when he operated on my thumb. When I found out I needed surgery on my dominant hand, I knew he was my choice again. He has a wonderful personality, answers all my questions, and makes himself available if I need anything in between regular appointments. I've been treating with Dr Jay for nearly 10 years and he has been a God send! I have had two surgeries by him that resulted in complete resolution of my pain and issues. He and his staff are great. He always takes the necessary time to explain all options and I have never felt rushed or not heard. TBH there is the occasional longer wait time but I know it's because he's giving the same care and concern to another of his patients. Dr. Talsania very caring to his patients. I broke my right wrist on Sunday. Monday I called to get an appointment. I got an appointment for Tuesday and Wednesday I was scheduled for surgery. Dr. Talsania showed me the breaks in my wrist. This was shown through my X-Ray and CT Scan. He is an excellent hand specialist. Broke my finger rock climbing, first surgeon told me that it would be "really difficult" for me to ever climb again since it was a pretty bad unstable fracture, and I sobbed in the doctor's office. My uncle recommended I get a second opinion with Dr. Talsania, and when I went to see him he was so nonchalant and reassuring. Very calmly told me how he did a similar operation just last week, and that 4-6 weeks after surgery I could try climbing if things were looking good at my follow-up. He even tried to do pins to avoid using permanent screws, but it just wasn't working out. Surgery went great, and I was typing literally 36 hours after surgery. The great thing about getting the screws is you can get to using your finger again way sooner. Maybe I used my finger wayy too much during the first couple weeks after surgery (I even tried climbing three weeks after, had a bit of a scare and stopped that until my follow-up), but my finger is doing great!! I was doing light climbing five to six weeks after surgery, back to vertical caving at 6 weeks, bouldering regularly at 8 weeks, etc. Physical therapy was easy, Dr. Talsania made it easy for me to see someone the same day as my appointments with him. I found the most success with passive flexion AKA pushing my finger manually with my other hand to flex as much as possible and stretch everything out (started with like a minute, then 2, then 5, then 10, then 15, then 20 as tolerated). i never imagined i would have gotten this much range of motion back with little to no pain if you asked me six months ago. i'm like almost back to 100%, and the reason I'm not at 100% is because I got lazy and stopped being intentional about physical therapy. I just climb whenever and sometimes do the passive flexion, and I can feel when it gets stretched out and it improves. The swelling may eventually go away in the next year they say, but I don't care as long as I can climb :)Patient Submitted Review

He gave me an injection which took care of the problem for now ( can I say that particular injection hurt like hell?) I would give Dr. Talsania 6 stars! Or 10! He is an amazing surgeon and person. His conservative approach will treat you with multiple modalities, and only schedule surgery when necessary. After several years of treatment, it became necessary for me to have surgery . Dr. Talsania was absolutely wonderful. He fit me into his tight surgery schedule the next day to stabilize my broken finger. Finger is still healing but enough we don't need any additional visits. The entire staff at OAA and their sister PT group were fantastic. Hopefully I won't need any more assistance but if it happens again, (I am almost 70 and these things happen to oldies like me!) I will certainly go back to him and if my arthritis gets to be too much, will see him about anything he can do for it. Saw Dr. Talsania as scheduled, less than a 5 min wait... Took me in his exam room and asked me what the problem is, and I told him where I hurt and after he examined me and stated I have a buildup of arthritis in the bottom joint in my left thumb... The Doctor asked me if I wanted an injection which I stated yes to, it was a little uncomfortable, but by the time I got out of the office to the parking lot the pain was 95% gone... I've been seeing Dr. Talsania since 2000 after a work-related injury where the doctor moved an Ulnar Nerve on my right arm and haven't seen him until this started... I think he is the best and most likable Hand Surgeon you could ever, if needed to go to... I originally saw Dr. Talsania more than 20 years ago. He did surgery on my left hand, long finger for my arthritis. I was very pleased then with the result. Recently, I've been having issues with my right hand, ring finger and had an appointment with him on Tuesday, July 6th. He had x-rays taken and explained the results to me. Dr. Talsania has been my hand doctor for years. He operated on capral tunnel syndrome and trigger fingers. I suffered a traumatic finger amputation and went to the ER. He was not on call and another doctor worked on me. My follow up experience with this practice was not positive, for several reasons. I took my mom in to see Dr. Talsania for trigger fingers and he noticed my bandaged hand. I asked if he would examine it. He immediately examined it and we discussed what treatment had been administered so far. I cannot give a rating of 6 stars, so 5 will have to do. Last year I have seen Dr Jay after previously seeing other 3 physicians. All 3 of them were trying to convince me of having surgery done to relieve tendon pain. Dr Talsania was totally against it. After living with De Quervain's tenosynovitis for almost half year, multiple doctor visits, and no relief in sight, all it took was a visit with OAA Orthopedics and a non painful shot. I had three procedures done on my arm and wrist at the same time from Dr. Talsania in late December 2018. I had so much pain prior to surgery, I could not open a door knob. After surgery, I did not need to take any pain pills, I have had no pain for the last two months and now I don’t even think about my hand surgery. All I can say is Dr. Talsania is a wonderful surgeon. You can’t see the scar, he is that good at suturing. He is very knowledgeable and gives his patients options on their individual treatment plan. When I was called in, another staff member was quick prep me for Dr's visit. Sent me for some X-Ray which went very quick and minutes later the Dr. was able to show and tell me what his findings were. I've been to 5 orthopedic surgeons over the last 12 years, and had resigned myself to getting my wrist fused due to chronic pain. I contacted Dr. Talsania as a last resort (based on reviews here and elsewhere) and he suggested a much more sensible, less invasive, less debilitating procedure, which I hope to get done in a few weeks. If it doesn't work to my satisfaction THEN we can go to the more debilitating fusion. It is so refreshing to interact with a physician who keeps up on the literature in the field, and who doesn't take the approach of "this is what I do, and all that I do, in your situation". My praise for Dr. Talsania's qualities could also be interpreted as a condemnation of those 5 other orthopedic surgeons who lack those qualities. It's a 2 hour trip for me to see Dr. T, as opposed to a 10 minute drive to a local orthopedic surgeon, but it would be a bargain even if it took a day (or more) to get to his office.Patient Submitted Review

It's very comforting knowing you have a Doctor who has very good bedside manners. He introduced himself to my wife as Jay,,, SO COOL!!. Very down to earth individual and very verryyy caring. He is by far the only Doctor I would recommend to work on your hands if you use them to make a living. I am a toolmaker by trade and after 35 years of working my hands went complety NUMB while working with small things and after surgery I have ZERO numbness and enjoy the finer things in life like riding my motorcycle and not having my hands fall asleep.
