Doctor Fastenberg is a fantastic doctor with incredible knowledge. He didn't just diagnose the eye problem he explains the 'why' behind it and the different treatment options available, making my mother and I feel informed and active participants in her eye care. He takes the time to answer all of our questions and explain in detail the treatment options.His medical team are compassionate, caring and knowledgeable. TLDR Version: Incredible staff and doctor. They help you and care. Fastenberg answers all questions and explains so well. Accommodating. Knowledgeable. Kind. Long Version: I was a walk in which is uncommon I think. Christina at the front desk was so nice. I said I could wait all day for any type of opening or appointment, I just wanted to see someone about my retinas. Christina asked Dr. Fastenberg if he would see me and he took me as a last minute walk in. I couldn’t believe it. The staff were all so kind taking me in, techs were great, everyone answered my questions and were incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating. Dr. Fastenberg was truly kind. He did an extensive check on my retinas, explained how floaters work and issues with near sightedness, and gave me pamphlets of information to learn more. He listened to me carefully, understood my history, and helped me better understand why my eyes are working the way they currently are. I think the best thing about Dr. Fastenberg was he could tell I was stressed. I just came out of a dreadful experience with another eye doctor, was still looking for answers for my retinas, and just wanted a general sense of peace of mind. My eye’s condition was scary to such a point that I could have lost sight of my right eye. My sight was blur and it was bleeding badly, and Dr. Fastenberg started the treatment. Now, June 2024, I am doing good and I need to come periodically for a check-up visit. As a professional, Dr. Fastenberg is the best of the best. He performed the correct treatment and always explains my condition. As a person, Dr. David Fastenberg is very friendly, easy-going, and he truly cares about my health. Another point is that Dr. Fastenberg chitchats with me about personal topics outside health issues. And apparently, there is a reason why he is booked so quickly, so if you need to make an appointment – don’t wait and make it ASAP. Personality wise, Dr. David Fastenberg is unique because I don’t feel that I am visiting a rigid-doctor, but rather, almost a friend - a person/doctor who truly care about my health, and he doesn’t stop there, he chitchats with me about personal topics outside health issues. Dr. Fastenberg is very friendly and he talks to patients and his staff as equal people and not as someone who is above us (and I hear him talking with other patients and his staff). Another important point is that Dr. Fastenberg and his staff has several retina centers in Long Island, Queens and I just saw a new one in Rockland County.
