I saw Dr. Shakin approximately 10 yrs ago when I had fluid in my retina. His diagnosis was quick and perfectly accurate. My eye healed exactly in his timeframe. I had to call recently with a question about an injection I need for my back that could potentially cause an issue with my retina. I left a message and one of his nurses, Karen, called me back within an hour just to let me know Dr. Shakin was out for the day and that she would get back to me the next day. My experience with Dr. Shakin has been very positive. His staff in the Riverhead office are very friendly and efficient. The back staff take you relatively quickly to do their eye exam, place the drops and then send you on for the eye scan. Usually after this is done within 15 minutes I am seeing the doctor.
