Dr. Jeffrey Shakin graduated from New York Medical College. He was Resident and Chief Resident at NYU Medical Center-Bellevue Hospital in Ophthalmology. He completed a two-year fellowship in Medical & Surgical Disorders of the Retina and Vitreous and Ocular Oncology at the world-renown Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Shakin is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the Retina Society and the American Society of Retinal Specialists. The New York City Police department has made him an Honorary Police Surgeon. He is a New York State Trooper Police Surgeon. He reviews articles for several ophthalmology journals.
Dr. Shakin holds the academic title of Associate Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Hofstra Medical School. He won the distinguished service certificate as well as the Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
