I was so relieved when I found out it wasn't the Treadmill test. I wanted to hug Matthew. Matthew was great at Injections. I didn't feel a thing. I have given blood whenever I can so I have been hurt accidentally. One of the Nurse Practitioners recognized me from Taco Casa. It felt like I was with friends. 100% fantastic.

I was so pleased with the three main people who worked with me, but I’m not sure I know their names. Pretty little lady who put my IV in and the PA who did My nuclear stress test. But the guy who took the pictures of my heart won my heart that day. He was so easy breezy and explained what he was doing and had the greatest music list playing in his little cubbyhole. I had an appointment with Dr. McShurley to establish myself in his practice after getting a pacemaker in New Jersey, since I make my home in Florida during the winter and New Jersey the rest of the year. Dr. McShurley answered all my questions and I feel confident that he is the right person to care for me should I have any cardiac needs while living in Florida. He discussed with me the severity of things and referred me out to a specialist surgeon who also saved my life. After dealing with my first atrial fibrillation experience, I was very very nervous and scared. Dr. Melvin came to the hospital and visited me personally where he gave me. Advise and peace of mind. I am blessed to be under the care of Dr. Khaja. He is an outstanding doctor. His staff is excellent. He is personable, thorough, thoughtful, professional, and considerate of his patients. I trust him without reservation. With Dr. Khaja as my "electrician" and Dr. Haghighat as my "plumber" (as they refer to themselves), I could not ask for a better cardio care team. Dr. Khaja implanted my pacemaker in June 2024 and performed my ablation procedure in March 2025. In between those procedures, in January 2025, Dr. Haghighat surgically reduced a 95% blockage in my lower left leg. I have also recently had both an echocardiogram and a nuclear stress test at their very efficient CVI facility on Baldwin Ave in Panama City. While this review is for my recent follow up office visit with Dr. Khaja at the CVI PCB office on Ashley Drive, I am taking this opportunity to thank both of these superb doctors for the care they have provided me. I went in for a routine follow up appointment to check my pacemaker. I had been suffering from shortness of breath since being diagnosed with congestive heart failure in November 2023. 2-3 days prior to my appointment the shortness of breath had gotten worse along with pressure in my chest. He immediately said I needed to be in the hospital…” you could have a heart attack”. As usual, my sister and I focused on the other appointments we had that day and decided she would take me later. He definitely knew what he was talking about. After being admitted to the hospital later that day and all “test” coming back “normal”. The final procedure was a heart catheter which showed an 80% blockage in the “widow makers vessel”. Thanks to Dr Hoang I am alive inspite of my procrastination. I was bringing a friend in for a day after a procedure check up and ended up looking at the eyewear you had. I lost my glasses and was wearing store bought waiting until I bought another pair from Walmart. Well Tamra is who asked me if I needed help. I believe that was her name(husband loves books and history) helped me after I saw cute frames and walked me through all the different prices for different add ons available. I wasn’t even going to buy but because I already had my prescription on me, I did. She was wonderful. I knew my insurance didn’t cover vision but she looked extra long just to make sure. She was such a pleasure to speak to and I went ahead and ordered them and paid. Waiting on them to come in now. She told me about all problems they will correct with them once a year if they happen and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff is extraordinary, very efficient, friendly, excellent customer service skills. And, they have LOW TURNOVER. Great doctors create great teams I had an afib monitor installed on a Thursday. I received urgent messages on my home phone by both the doctor and his chief assistant.all weekend. Bridgette is Dr. Khaja's tech support. She is thorough in working up a patient, very knowledgeable regarding EP and puts a patient immeditely at ease answering any number of questions. Dr Khaja is an exceptional EP and stays up to date on the latest developments regarding both AFib and Atrial Flutter. He is intensely interested in caring for his patients and can discuss a case in simple to understand terms or more technical ones if the patient had spent some time studying their condition. Visit went very well. It was my annual checkup. The Cardiovascular Institute group has a brand new office in PCB closer to where I leave, the Staff was very attentive and used technology to quickly process me. They conducted an EKG, checked my meds, and collected data before I was seen by a competent and pleasant PA. Then Dr. Morrow saw me and discussed with me and my wife the next tests and procedures he recommended to complete a good current status of my heart heath. The Staff then scheduled futures appointments, gave me test preparation instructions and arranged to have those tests/procedures executed soon. Everyone is very kind and friendly. I don't know how they do it with such a huge patient load. Dr. McShurley is a wonderfully compassionate and brilliant cardiologist. He is my husband's and my mom's doctor. He takes time with us and listens. And I cannot say enough about his nurse! She really keeps things on track and is so caring. We have also seen Bridgett when we needed to come in unexpectedly. She is an excellent NP. She's so thorough and sharp! Bridgett also has a ton of compassion for her patients. Shana worked real hard with my GP to get me an appointment at cardiovascular institute quicker than my Dr that is affiliated with their own hospital at PSJ. Now if that wasn’t impressive another staff member April called me and informed me of my deductible that hasn’t been met and prepared me for my up an coming charges. This was a great service to me that she did this because many time if I’m not on top of my medical responsibilities ie deductibles it could be quite the shock at the time of the visit what is due. Many people don’t realize that the insurance Companies are of GREAT burden on the Doctors office because insurance companies don’t like to pay a fair wage to the Doctors and their fees. I feel the contracted rates insurance companies negotiate are unfair and an insult to the doctors. On top of that the Doctors have to fight for payments. I am grateful that there are doctors that still take insurance. April didn’t have to take time to call me and let me know this, after all it is my responsibility to know what is due at the time of service. This is a courtesy outside the norm of every doctor I’ve ever dealt with. Remember it’s the patients responsibility to know what their coverages and where they stand with their fulfillment of deductibles and whether it has been met.
