A few weeks ago I was having symptoms of a stroke. I am 58 years old in good health. I was transported to Morristown Hospital. I med his PA Beth Gold. They found some bleeding on my right side of my brain and an unknown spot. Close to that area. I had surgery on a Wednesday and a tumor was removed. I walked out of the hospital 2 days later. Where to begin? Dr. Moshel is by far a very kind and compassionate Neurosurgeon. The way he explains what is going on to his patients and their families is by far a testament to his character and he's funny too. His confidence and skill are phenomenal. I was asked by a few people in the hospital, "how did you find him, he's amazing, your son is in great hands - he's amazing to work with". A family friend helped us to a colleague, who in turn guided us to him and his team. He performed my son's awake craniotomy - with music I might add, in May, and while it's not a good tumor, he achieved the best possible outcome (GTR) and my son is doing well. He even called me one night, after a very panic driven message to one of his staff, after reading my son's medical report and explained things to me, pointed me to support and calmed me down. My mom had a tumor in her brain, we thought we lost her when we saw the size and location of the tumor. Then Dr. Moshel came in the room and within 5 min explained to us that the tumor is benign despise its size. The doctor is incredible with his expertise and confidence in his expression. We never even bothered with a second opinion, we pretty much decided Dr Moshel is the best and we will leave everything in his capable hands. The doctor did an incredible operation, his team and office staff were all top tier. I also heard from the nurses in the hospital that Dr. Moshel has wonderful bedside manners. Hi, This is Ralph Brunette. I met Dr. Yaron Moshel and his staff, Beth and Jackie ,after being diagnosed with a sub dermal hematoma. Beth took the time (about 20 minutes) to explain to me in depth exactly what was going on; even showing me on a model of the brain so that I understood. She made me feel confident and safe. Then Dr. Moshel came in and explained it to me over again, which made me feel made me feel even more confident. I haven't had medical people talk to me in depth like that in 35 years, It was amazing. He truly cared about what i was going through. He was concerned about the amount of blood thinners I was on and even called my cardiologist during my appointment to discuss it. Surgery was delayed one week due to pandemic; but once a date was finalized everything (pre-op blood work, scans, MRI, etc) were all performed in a timely manner. I brought my sister to Dr. Moshel from out of state so that he could treat a large brain tumor that had not caused any symptoms until it became the size of a golf ball. He spent a great deal of time during the office visit explaining what he intended to do and what the surgery would be like. The surgery was more complex than originally thought because the tumor was very vascular and intertwined with important vascular structures in the brain. Suffice it to say that Dr. Moshel handled it beautifully and with no problems. He is a magnificent neurosurgeon who was the answer to our prayers. Dr. Moshel and his staff took the time to completely review my medical situation with my husband and I. My plan of care was discussed with all questions answered that could be before surgery. Due to COVID-19, surgery was postponed but scheduled as soon as it was permitted. My questions with Dr. Moshel's office during the wait were answered the same day and documents processed very quickly. My surgery went very well and my recovery far better than I expected. The care team at Overlook Medical Center worked very well together. They were able to assist me getting out of bed, walking, and preparing for discharge 3 days after surgery. Dr. Moshel called me at home the night I was discharged from the hospital to see how I was doing. I met with him this week to discuss the final phase of my care plan that I am confident will go just as well. I am very thankful to Dr. Moshel and his team for the care they provided to me. Dr Moshel and his staff was outstanding. Both The Doctor, and his Nurse Practitioner took plenty of time explaining to my wife and myself about my condition, and how it could affect me in the future if left untreated. He used models of the skull to show me exactly where my problem was, and all of the nearby structures it could affect. We came away feeling like we now understood what needed to be done, and how that would happen. After seeing an ENT we were referred to, Dr Moshel personally returned our call to reassure us that the ENT could manage my care. He was very kind and reassuring. Dr. Moshel performed brain surgery on a family member and he came highly recommended to me as a surgical consult. He listened, reviewed my MRI's, addressed my concerns and assured me that surgery was not necessary. He then explained how my medical issues affect the brain's function and referred me to a neurologist who specializes in my diagnosis. I cannot say enough good things about this doctor and his staff (especially Beth). He performed brain surgery on my 24 year old daughter. He completely removed a tennis ball and a half size tumor from her right frontal lobe. He spent so much time explaining everything to us patiently until we all understood. He did a headband incision and removed a tiny bit of hair. You couldnt even tell she had brain surgery. She had no complications during or after surgery. This man is super intelligent and amazing.
