Carter is a joy to communicate with from the beginning. Her friendly approach to patients deserves a top tier acknowledgement . She also directed me where to park which made navigating downtown a breeze and took a big stressor off since it’s a large complex and I don’t live nearby.. By the end of our visit we were on a first name basis and it was like talking to a long time friend. Carter was absolutely wonderful getting us set up. When we went for our appointment, my daughter was excited to meet her and commented on how sweet she was on the phone. Carter was so encouraging and genuinely believes in the work and expertise of the providers, she spoke highly of the doctor and therapy team. Dr Rubin was running a bit behind but Carter came out and communicated it with us and offered us some refreshments while we waited. That said, we only waited maybe 20 or so minutes past our scheduled time which honestly I feel isn't too bad. Dr Rubin was very knowledgeable and explained things to my teenage daughter in a way that made sense to her and engaged her in the conversation and discussion about treatment options. I brought Dr Todd A. Rubin a scrambled mess of flesh & bones at the end of my left arm following a Tim “The Toolman” Taylor type of incident on April Fool’s Day. With help from all the king’s women and all the king’s men (Dr Luke Richie who faithfully triaged me in the ER & Jessica Deal for months of OT), Todd amazingly put Humpty’s five fingers together again. Forty-one days later, I flew on a plane to vacation in Italy with my family. From Carter at the front desk, to the nurses, Brandon Miller PA and Dr. Todd Rubin,… they are simply the best at what they do. I came to Dr. Rubin almost two years after being attacked by a neighbors guard dog. He removed a ganglion cyst in my wrist and fixed tendons in the first compartment of my hand. Something that a half dozen other hand specialists refused to touch. Don’t give up hope folks. Go see Dr. Rubin and you will be treated like a human being. Dr. Rubin is a brilliant surgeon! He is caring, smart and confident with a great personality. I'm a professional piano player and broke a little finger. Dr. Rubin, with amazing skill and hardware, had me playing (with light use of the finger) in 3 weeks. 11 months later and the finger is strong and nimble with no performance problems. BTW He's also a musician and understood the vital nature of my injury. I do still have some light pain but am still healing and the actual finger utility is fabulous. Dr. Rubin saved my career! Dr RUBIN performed and ORIF of my mothers right wrist (decapitated radial bone) from a MVA on 12/25/23. The repair was flawless. I also own and operate Fagan Geriatric Wellness and Rehabilitation, Physical and Occupational Therapy specifically specializing in the Geriatric population, and I see many of these and similar surgeries to various other joints in the body. I have to say this has been by far the most perfect setting and repair of a bone as well as a beautiful incision site that healed and is now almost undetectable. It was artwork. His staff were top notch and his skills in the OR and beyond are unparalleled. Can’t recommend him more highly! I had to have a full elbow reconstruction after an accident and I am very glad I chose Dr. Rubin to do this surgery for me. I see comments about Dr. Rubin being rude? He is most certainly NOT rude. He is factual and honesty is sometimes hard to hear if you are suffering. However, much better to have an experienced factual expert caring for you than to have someone sugar coat. I basically crushed my left arm five years ago in a 4 wheeler roll over accident. Broke my ulna, radius and wrist. He did an amazing job putting my arm back together. Dr. Todd Rubin is conservative in his diagnosis for surgery, but when he assured himself that I needed carple tunnel surgery in both hands, he performed perfectly. He staggered my surgeries so as not to completely incapacitate me, but hastened within reason to complete both so I could start working with my hands as soon as possible after the first surgery. scheduled a follow up visit with a trigger finger issue in both hands (big fingers) from a visit almost two years ago regarding another finger experiencing that issue and when I met with Dr. Rubin, he had my notes handy and carefully examined my hands and explained what my issues were. He suggested injections in both hands and I agreed with his assessment and we proceeded. He was thorough, careful and at the same time firm in his approach and gave me a full explanation of what the effects would be and how to best take advantage of his efforts. He operated on my wrist two years ago after I shattered it, attending to me in the ER and then performing surgery to place a plate and screws in my arm/wrist. When my son fractured his wrist in the fall I didn’t hesitate to bring him to Dr. Rubin for care. He is extremely knowledgeable and takes time to make sure that the patient understands what is going on. I appreciate his willingness to take that time with his patients! Dr. Rubin was tasked with performing a revision surgery for a bad malunion in my left wrist after the initial surgery for multiple fractures, done by another less experienced surgeon, failed. As a certified hand surgeon with specialized experience in wrist and hand trauma, Dr. Rubin was able to achieve a better outcome than we initially thought possible, given the severity of the malunion. His Physical Therapy partner, Nick, was the other part of the equation that helped bring me through this traumatizing experience. We all worked hard. It was a team outcome for sure. Dr. Rubin’s experience as a certified hand surgeon specializing in wrist and hand trauma was critical to my being able to recover as much as was feasibly possible from a malunion which formed after initial surgery by a less experienced surgeon failed, following a bike crash. The revision surgery — basically starting over and rebuilding my wrist in 2 surgeries 3 months apart — was complicated and required making decisions while in surgery that only someone with his experience could make. I broke my arm 6 weeks ago due to a fall. I was taken to nearest hospital which did not have an on-site orthopedic hand/arm surgeon. However, Dr. Rubin was their on call surgeon and ER doctor was in communication with him regarding my case. They set my arm in ER and X-rays sent to Dr. Rubin to see if I needed surgery that day or if I could wait until the following week (as it was Friday) and see him in clinic on Monday and then do surgery Tuesday. Based on my X-rays the latter was chosen and I was sent home. Once I got home my pain started getting worse despite pain medicine that was prescribed, icing, elevating, etc. After about 7 hours my pain became unbearable and my hand and fingers became completely numb and was becoming white. I went back to ER where they contacted Dr. Rubin and decision was made to admit me for pain control, but unsure if OR would be available for surgery this weekend. Dr. Rubin called ER doctor back shortly after and was able to get me in OR next day (Saturday). Dr. Rubin came to room to meet me before surgery and answered all of mine and my husband’s questions thoroughly and did not rush. He was polite and eased my fears as I have never had surgery before. Surgery went great but I also had to have carpel tunnel surgery as when I broke my arm I damaged the carpel nerve. I saw Dr. Rubin 2 weeks post-op and again he took his time and answered all questions. I was able to be put in a soft splint since I was healing well. I just saw Dr. Rubin for my 6 week post-op appointment and again he was polite, did not rush, and took his time. He has been professional each time I have seen him. His nurse Cameron is also very nice, helpful, and caring. I’m out of the splint now and continuing to heal well. Prior to this injury I had never heard of the Hughston Clinic. Dr. Rubin managed my surgery and follow-up care for a severe comminuted fracture of my left wrist recently. From Day 1 of my surgery in May, I felt very comfortable with his attention, expertise and care to my case and rehab. On my last visit he showed me x-rays of my healed fracture which healed very well and I was pleased with the end results.
