I intermittently worked with Dr. West in my former role as a case manager for WC. Today I returned to him as a retired person with a shoulder issue. He was as I remember him, kind, attentive, and patient. Dr. West answered my questions, and was reassuring in his responses. He was, and still is one of the best for upper extremity issues.

Jesse West did shoulder surgery on me Wednesday, April 10. I had 3 tears- rotator cuff, labral tear and bicep tendon tear plus bursitis. The bicep tear healed itself and he repaired the other two along with removing burrs from shoulder. Surgery was outpatient and was quick. Dr. West checked on me that evening and today, 2 days later I returned to his office for bandage to be changed. My pain has been very minimal. I heard so many great things about Dr. West and his PA, Travis. I highly recommend them for anyone needing shoulder surgery.Patient Submitted Review

Dr. West is a great surgeon, everything went just as he said it would. All my follow up visits were so quick, he never kept me waiting. My rotator cuff is healing up very well. Dr West repaired my bicep in my left shoulder. He did an amazing job and I have healed very nicely. I recently saw him for pain in the same shoulder and he fixed me with a steroid shot. I had shoulder resurfacing in July of 2018. My shoulder was frozen as a result of bone spurs. I taught handicapped skiing and had numerous injuries. I had no pain after surgery and only took one pain pill. I worked very hard and was diligent with pushing hard in physical therapy. I was released from PT with out full range of motion although I hired a personal trainer. I am stronger than I have ever been and have improved my overall athleticism I am 61 years of age and am a testament that hard work in both PT and hiring a personal trainer got me back to more than 100%.Patient Submitted Review

While I realize every person has a different experience, my recovery from rotator cuff surgery was amazingly fast with minimal pain. I tore my rotator cuff, tendon and bicep and Dr. West put me back together and did a spectacular job. I was in rehab the next day - had minimal post-op pain - have full range of motion and I'm only 3 months out. Not bad for my age! I destroyed my shoulder doing whitewater kayaking, smashed into a river bounder which dislocated my shoulder, tore my lebrum, severed (not tore, severed) my supraspinatus rotator cuff, dented my humerus and left me with a couple of bone chips floating around. It was bad. Jay West performed the surgery, and after 6 months of PT and followup exercises (I was religious about PT), I now have full strength and range of motion in that shoulder. Having just moved from Virginia, I asked friends and healthcare professionals who they recommended to repair a messed up rotator cuff. Everyone told me to go to Dr. West. Three physical Therapist told me that if I wanted good results, quick recovery time, limited pain and minimal surgical scars to go to Dr. West. The surgery was a breeze and I cant find my scars. I had minimal pain including therapy and was to 100% range of motion within 10 weeks. I was well informed of the process. Great

Dr. West fixed a tear in my shoulder that another shoulder surgeon said couldn't be fixed. I'm now back to work with no pain and excellent strength.
