I am having problems with my wrist and hand but a few years ago Dr. McDaid did surgery on it and had to take arthritic bone out. He did a wonderful job and now all of a sudden it’s spraying up. Dr. McDaid treated me for years for both my hands. I had arthritis of the thumb and was on pain medication and steroid injection in the joint. I noticed the problem with my hands at 27 years old. This was a genetic condition as my father and sister had the same problem. So after 20 years my hands got to the point I could no longer brush my teeth or brush my hair let alone drive. I was so fearful of the surgery and that was why I put it off. Dr. McDaid did say it would be a painful recovery. I also ended up with carpal tunnel. So I had the worst hand done first. Well recovery was a breeze. I had no pain at all during recovery. Dr. McDaid had said that was unheard of . My second hand I had a very small amount of pain but nothing to the pain I had for years with both my hands. So it is 15 years later and my hands are still wonderful. I can do crafts again, embroidery and live a normal life. Now i have to have my knees replaced so that is my next challenge.Patient Submitted Review

I was dealing with elbow/arm pain and sought treatment from a provider (in Luzerne county) who laughed at me and told me to take OTC pain killers for a few months and that I "wasted his time with a boring case of tennis elbow." Fast forward over 6 months, and I was suffering with such severe elbow/arm pain and limited range of motion that it disturbed sleep and interference with daily living skills (eating, writing with a pen, buttoning a shirt, holding a cup). I was assigned to Dr. McDaid after contacting OAA Orthopaedic Specialists for help. In just 2 months, my symptoms have improved almost 100%. Dr. McDaid listened and determined the source of my pain in a calm, professional manner that was not obnoxious or abrasive. He provided 1) education so I understood my situation and 2) remedies to provide relief. Yes, my situation was "text book"- but that did not mean I had to suffer. I went to Dr. McDade due to constant pain in my thumb joint. He diagnosed it as arthritis and said he could remove the bone and do a tendon transfer. I had the surgery and everything went perfect. I experience no pain after surgery and my incision healed perfectly. I had to be consistent in going to therapy and doing the exercises at home but it paid off in the end. Dr. McDaid is the ONLY physician I would trust for any injury/condition relating to the hand, wrist or elbow. He performed a very intricate surgery (nerve re-attachment) on my 9 year old son whose pinky finger nerve was severed as a result of an injury. Every person I encountered or had received care from was excellent, from the check in person all the way up to the doctor himself. Everyone was pleasant, polite, helpful, and caring. Great experience overall.
