Overall, it was a great experience! Today marks day 2 post-op, and although I was initially nervous and scared, the doctor made me feel completely at ease. The entire process was smooth and quick. The LASIK surgery itself was painless, though the suction pressure was a bit uncomfortable, but it didn’t last long. Today at my post-op appointment, the doctor confirmed I have 20/20 vision. I live in Paso Robles and have been a patient of Dr. Dougherty for the past three (3) years due to corrective procedures and surgeries on an RK surgery performed in 1984 in the Central Valley with another surgeon at that time. Because this was a relatively new procedure at that time and was limited to correct severe near sightedness, the long term results were unknown at that time and resulted in my having to correct this procedure which was not done with lasers at that time. I was referred to him by my optometrist due to the overcorrection of my original RK which greatly diminished my life in the last 5 years. I feel extremely blessed for the referral, and I can say that not only is he the best in his field, he is compassionate, caring, and he strives to give his patients the best results possible. My journey has been the best decision I could have ever made and my quality of life has exceeded all of my expectations and I am forever grateful for Dr. Dougherty in all that he has done. I am doing so many more things than I did prior to this journey including, but not limited to, photography, genealogy, reading and writing. Not 💯 sure since I’m only one day out from surgery but so far so good. I’m seeing perfectly with the full distance vision correction using EVO ICL. I was worried about up close vision given that I am 43 yrs of age but so far my reading vision is still holding up, even one day after the ICL. Big shout out to Nico Zambrano who put up with all my demands, including going above and beyond to connect me with two former patients who relayed their experiences to me over the phone with the EVO ICL. Giselle was superb at walking me through post op instructions. This doctor is probably a bit more $$ than some of the others for this procedure, but he’s worth his weight in gold. I don’t want to know what it is like with a complication but fortunately I have not had any so far! I may pop back in to update a little while later! I would say if you’re from another state, Dr Dougherty is worth flying in for this procedure bc of his vast knowledge and skill. I can tell that he is exceptional at what he does. Just a bit of background. I was severely myopic, with diopter level of -7.5 on right eye and -8 on left. To put this in perspective, I had to hold something no more than four inches from my face to read it. Beyond four inches, it was all a blur! He definitely took care of this, and now I’ll bet I’m seeing 20/20, and still have my reading vision at 43 yrs of age!Patient Submitted Review

Wow! Just wow! I had cataract surgery done three months ago, followed by a YAG, and then finally a LRI for an astigmatism correction. I went from using three different pairs of glasses (strengths) and seeing dull colors and lessoned contrast, to seeing a bright beautiful world and at least 20/20 vision! So happy to ditch all those glasses and contacts! Even as a child, I could not see as well as that! As an artist, even, I was not aware that colors were slowly dulling on me over the years from the cataracts! I am amazed again this morning, one day after my LRI, how clear my vision is with 20/20 vision, bright colors and so much contrast that my brain is still trying to adjust to the vision changes! I can’t say enough, except a big thank you! Dr. Dougherty’s staff is also exceptional and very professional- can’t leave that part out! Just came back from a post-cataract check up and I just can't say enough good things about the whole Camarillo DLV experience. I was one of the early Radial Keratotomy patients 40+ years ago so Dr. Dougherty had lots to work with, work around. Absolutely fantastic surgeon and he very clearly CARES deeply. Today, I also had a fantastic experience with Stephanie, one of his tech assistants. Stephanie was delightful, easy to be with, careful and full of care and helpful with explanations of what she was doing. The whole staff at DLV is just super. I am a practicing optometrist in Camarillo. For over ten years I have referred my patients to Dougherty Laser vision center for cataract, and laser vision surgery including LASIK and PRK. I perform all the post-op follow up care for these patients. The precise and consistent vision results that Dr Paul Dougherty achieves is amazing. During this past year I developed significant cataracts that required surgery. For me there was no other choice for a surgeon to operate on my eyes. I have worn glasses since I was was eight year old. I was never a good candidate for contacts or LASIK vision correction. The options for cataract surgery however offer opportunities to be eyeglass free. Dr. Dougherty sat down with me and discussed all the options that were appropriate for my particular case and then decided on a surgical plan. I had my right eye done first that provided me with perfect distance vision. I had my left eye done a few weeks. My left eye had astigmatism so we decided to implant an astigmatism correcting lens which also focused my eye at near so I could work and read up close without any glasses. For the first time since age 8 I can work and play without glasses. The only glasses I now need are non-prescription sunglasses. I had LASIK surgery performed by Dr. Dougherty two weeks ago and the results are stunning! I can see perfectly clearly now without any glasses! I had wanted to get LASIK for a couple years, but hadn't had it done yet. I read really good things about Dr. Dougherty and went get a consultation with him. I didn't want to just go to anybody since eyes are not something I wanted to get the budget version of the service. Cheap store brand detergent, sure. LASIK eye surgery, I want the best. Dr. Dougherty has done over 25,000 eye surgeries which makes him one of the most experienced laser eye surgeons in the world. It made me feel much better knowing he has done this that many times with such high success rate. During my consultation I felt 100% confident trusting that Dr. Dougherty was taking good care of me. I have been referring patients to Paul Dougherty, MD for over 20 years, and today I became a patient again; in the past, Dr. Dougherty had performed cataract surgery on my wife and I. He was very accommodating to her work schedule so he extended his hours just to do her surgery. My wife and I see post op lasik and cataract surgeries on a daily basis. As a practicing optometrist for over 50 years in Ventura, I feel that I am in a position to judge outstanding care provided to patients, family members and myself, who have had surgical procedures with Dr. Paul Dougherty. Dr. Dougherty performed a very complex surgery on one of my family members, involving removing a contact lens that was surgically implanted inside the eye for 15 years. He then closing the surgical incision, the patient was re-draped with sterile drapes and after 'scrubbing in' again, Dr. Dougherty reentered the OR, made another incision and performed cataract surgery, which was the second procedure. Few people in the world can successfully do that type of surgery with a great outcome. Thanks to Dr. Dougherty I have 20/20 vision after 2 decades of glasses and contacts. He has given me such a wonderful gift to be able to not depend on anything for perfect vision. I wake up and I can see, I used to worry in an emergency I would not be able to locate my glasses, not anymore. Besides great vision, Dr. Dougherty and his team were extremely thorough and double checked all their testing to decide what procedure was best for me, after all that they decided that ICL surgery would be the best option for me.
