I've had doctor Tocks for a little over a year now he did my reverse shoulder replacement September of 2024 so I've seen him before that, during that time and I just had my one year appointment with him has always been extremely friendly down to earth and he always explains things to you in words you understand. Never seems to be in a rush always willing to answer questions. I was taken back by how the night before my surgery he literally called me on my phone to ask me how I was doing and if I had any questions at first when I realized it was him on the other end of the phone I thought something was wrong that I was going to be canceled or something and then he just explained to me he just wanted to make sure I understood everything and to make sure I was comfortable. He was the first doctor that I've ever had that happen that they literally call and ask how you're doing before surgery and if I had any questions to ask him and so forth. From start to finish this experience was as smooth and stress-free as it could possibly have been. My child broke their arm at home, I called our pediatrician to find out where I should take her, they gave me the number for OAL and I called them and the person who answered the phone asked me a few questions and gave me the address, once we arrived and checked in at the front desk, to x-rays to diagnosis it was less than 30 minutes. At every point the process went very well and the whole staff worked hard at preparing us for the upcoming surgery and recovery. We worked with the finance team, the staff met with us to explain to us what the surgery and recovery would be like, and then the staff at North Pointe Surgery Center were just so good and treated us very well. How many doctors call their patience the night before the surgery?! That was an incredible gesture by Dr Tocks and I appreciated it. The follow-up has been very good and the text reminders and the recommendations online, even sometimes daily, were very helpful. Dr Tocks is a very professional but down to earth man! I love this about him, he always talked to me in a language that I would understand. Never used the medical terms that can be difficult to follow. He was always wanted to make sure I understood what he said and was also ready to do the procedure which was a full replacement of my left knee. I was thrilled with my surgery and was walking several hours afterwards. I just had my 1 yr. Post op appointment and he was thrilled with how well I recovered as was I . Dr. Tocks recently performed total hip replacement on me. From my initial consult to surgery to the 6-week post-op checkup, Dr. Tocks has been straight-talking, professional, and engaging. After the surgery, I used a walker for one day, a cane for one more day, and I have been walking unaided since. I used pain medication for 12 days. To the point: my surgery with Dr. Tocks could not have been a better experience. Today marks 6 weeks since the surgery. I walked 9,000 steps and swam almost 2/3 of a mile. This visit was my 6-week post-op checkup for hip replacement surgery. Dr. Tocks is a miracle worker. I was walking unaided 3 days after surgery and took no pain meds after 12 days. What impresses me most about Dr Tocks is his real interest in his patients. He doesn't act like he's a God. He is down to earth, compassionate, and humorous. If I tell him a joke he comes back with one. I've had both hips replaced and the results are better than perfect. I had the second one done as an outpatient and was walking without assistance within 10 days. Now a year later and there is not a bit of pain or any discomfort at all. I can finally walk without crutched or a cane. It's rare today when you can say your doctor is your friend, but I can truly say this about Dr Tocks. I chose Dr Tocks based on the reviews. There were correct. Dr Tocks is very good at his job Initial visits were carefully explained as I went thru several injections and exercises before the inevitable became apparent; I needed a knee replacement. The procedure was clearly explained along with the possible difficult and extended recovery period. I was given several exercises to strengthen the knee and vitamins to boost the immune system before hand. I was pleasantly surprised at a phone call from him the night before surgery, which reduced the anxiety some, as well as a post operative visit while I was in recovery. The operation went smoothly and I was able to walk out of the surgery center 2 hours after a woke up. And I have had both of my hips replaced by Dr. Tocks one in 2019 and the other in 2023. The anterior procedure is the only way to go. My results are off the charts amazing and my scars are very minimal. His bedside manner is very reassuring, and his talent as a surgeon is complemented with great staff. I only did 4 weeks PT because I was meeting all the goals they set. The entire process from first discussions about having hip surgery through post-surgery follow ups went very smoothly. The communication between the doctor and the patient via Care Sense throughout the process works very well. I appreciated being assigned and meeting with the nurse navigator and physical therapist prior to surgery to review all of the necessary steps and make sure all essential exercises were understood. The actual surgery and discharge the same day happened smoothly and very quickly. I was well prepared for what to expect with my recovery upon returning home. At six weeks post surgery, I am no longer needing any pain medication, no longer need any assistive devices to walk, have been back to driving for several weeks and was able to get back to the gym to exercise on the stationary bicycles and practice aqua therapy. My pain level is back down to 0/1. I have a bit of stiffness getting out of bed in the morning but that quickly subsides. I highly recommend Dr. Tocks!Patient Submitted Review
