What I like the most about Dr. Buchalter is his candor and professionalism. He performed full knee replacement for me and I felt like I had personalized service, not just a routine procedure. He showed patience for every one of my questions and concerns and gave me very detailed and satisfactory answers to all of them. Consequently, I had no surprises and I am experiencing a rapid rehabilitation.I had surgery on Tuesday morning, and by Friday I was walking 500 yards. On the one week mark I was taking a walk of 3/4 of a mile every day with a total of 6,000 steps daily. By day 11, I was able to walk 1.5 miles, my usual exercise distance.The day after surgery, the physical therapist came to the house and measured my range of motion at 90 . I have had my fair share of pain, which is expected, I have experienced no infection whatsoever.The staff in the office is always friendly and efficient, especially Dr. Buchalter's assistant Hassan, who is tuned into every detail.5 star

I truly cannot thank Dr. Buchalter and his team enough for saving my leg. After a devastating motorcycle accident that left me with severe fractures in my femur, tibia, and fibula, the possibility of amputation was on the table. I really needed Dr. Buchalter’s services due to tendinitis in my left hip and was able to get an appointment in two days. Dr. B took his time to pinpoint the epicenter of my pain, ordered x-rays and gave me a cortisone shot which eliminated the pain almost immediately. Dr buchalter is amazing!!!! My mother had a hip replacement 13 days later she was walking great and no pain. It is truly a miracle. On top of that he went from the back and not the front as he has a special technique that he uses where he doesn't have to cut the muscle and because of that there are zero side effects like numbness and pain. See this doctor please he is amazing the only one that can do this surgery the absolute right way. I had my knee replacement surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2020. It never seemed right but the surgeon who had a great reputation felt everything was going to be fine. I saw Dr Buchalter who was confident he knew what was going on. He took some fluid from my knee and diagnosed me with an infection. Dr. Buchalter performed the surgeries for my left hip (January) and right hip (April) of 2022. Both hips were bone on bone and my mobility was really impacted. I had tried different therapies for years and only got worse. Dr Buchalter was honest about the options and as scary as surgery sounded he was very reassuring and I felt I was in good hands. 6 months after the left hip and 3 months after the right, I am walking without discomfort, logging in some 3.5 miles a day. Pain is gone, I am aligned and can walk naturally. Still not at 100%, but tracking well in that direction. I am happy I had the surgery, and even more that Dr. Buchalter and team performed it. I fainted and damaged my knee in such a way that I had excruciating pain and literally could not walk. I was taken by ambulance to a hospital which Dr. Buchhalter was not affiliated with. After being discharged and getting some cortisone shots and a gel shot by the other admitting doctor, (which did not help me), my GP highly suggested that I make an appointment with Dr. David Buchalter. He happens to be her orthopedic doctor. When I first saw Dr. Buchalter, he gave me a knee brace, and a prescription for PT, and advised me to take several milligrams of Advil/Alleve per day for a few weeks. I was improving a little, but not quick enough for my liking. Dr. Buchalter was quite conservative for a while, but when he saw and was told that I was not a happy camper, he decided to do arthroscopic surgery on my knee. After a few weeks of recovering, I am very happy to report that I am so pleased with my progress so now I can do whatever I want, whenever I want and with whomever I want.Patient Submitted Review

Upon my first visit I found the doctor to be personable and straightforward aBout my options after reviewing my X-rays. It was ultimately decided to go forward with a full Knesset replacement of my right knee. The doctor is an amazing and skilled surgeon and I was back on my feet and walking in about two weeks physical therapy pushes your progress along unfortunately my left knee gave out shortly after my first surgery and I found myself back in the doctors office scheduling surgery for my left knee after three months. Based on results...you got to go to Dr. Buchalter. I recently had my second hip replacement surgery by Dr. Buchalter. The first (4 months prior) went very well, with recovery complete, and now feeling absolutely no effects of surgery. Dr. Buchalter used a new procedure when performing my second surgery (a month ago)… recovery progressed even more quickly, and without the movement and position restrictions typically associated with the first surgery method. Post-surgery has been much easier to deal with this second time. After a week, I had switched from walker to cane outside and resumed driving, I returned to work two weeks after surgery. The staff at South Palm Orthopedics are professional and a pleasure to work with. I went to Dr. Buckhalter because I was having severe problems with my hip. I heard a lot of good things about him but I was very scared About doing surgery as I never had any surgery before. He calmed me and recommended we try physical therapy. When that didn’t work he gave me a cortisone shot into my hip which helped for about a month. The pain got worse and I was limping all the time. we talked about surgery and he told me about a brand new procedure he was doing for a hip replacement. I was having problems with my hip for a while. I saw several different doctors. When I saw Dr. Buchalater he explained to me about a new procedure he was doing that allowed for patients to get up right after surgery, and go home the same day. I spoke with another patient who had the surgery two weeks ago and was walking without any pain.I decided To have him do this brand new procedure on me. And it was amazing. I never had any pain. I was referred to Dr. Buchalter by a friend as I was having pain in my hip when walking. The doctor took x-rays and explained that the problem was coming from my hip. We tried physical therapy and a injection but it continued to get worse. We had a long discussion and Dr Buchalter told me about this new procedure he was doing with the anterior hip. Dr Buchalter said that people were having great results. After he answered all of my questions I did want to speak to my husband about this as well. I did decide to go ahead and have the surgery and I couldn’t be happier. I was walking within a couple of hours after the surgery and I was able to stop using the cane after 2 1/2 weeks. I never had any pain in my hip after the surgery. The great news was that I did not have to go to rehab and I really didn’t need that much home health. My whole life took on a new quality after Dr. Buchalter replaced my right knee. I was fortunate my friends referred me to a good orthopedic surgeon. What I like most about this doctor is that he doesn't beat around the bush and tells it like it is. Dr. Buchalter replaced my right knee at Delray Regional and I stayed two nights following my operation. My biggest fear was the pain following surgery. To my surprise, my pain was a mere discomfort. I was able to walk on my own four days after surgery but used a walker until I saw the doctor. Recovery was easy and four months later, my scar is barely noticeable. I have no problems with walking and I am amazed at how fast my knee healed. I explain that it is the doctor who gets the applause. Although Dr. Buchalter is a bit pompous, he is the key to my successful surgery and recovery. Dr. Buchalter runs a very efficient office. He saw me 2 days after I called for an appointment and replaced my left hip three weeks later (I've heard of friends waiting at least a month for an appointment and at least 3 to 4 months for surgery). I went to three (3) orthopedic doctors and knew Dr. Buchalter was the one to do my surgery immediately - I wanted a doctor that did hip replacement so often that it came as second nature - additionally, his office staff has been with him for more than 10 years that tells me that he is good person to work for besides being a great mechanic. Delray Medical Center's orthopedic wing is 5 star plus - new, cheerfull with service beyond expectations - when you call the nurse for pain meds, they are there within 5 minutes and all the nurse support is readily available. I had original total left hip replacement by another surgeon at another hospital, I suffered for over a year, with 2 revisions and 2 major infections and still a year later with pain. Had to shut down my ?? tennis game due to intense knee pain. MRI showed minor damage, so I went to Dr Buchalter for a second opinion. He concluded that the knee was fine and suspects the hip was the culprit of my pain. Took a quick hip X-ray in the office which showed bad arthritis. Then using an ultrasound with blue dye, he injected a cortisone shot into my hip to help my tennis game. The shot didn’t help my game so the Dr concluded a total hip replacement was necessary. The operation was a big success - recovery time was 4 weeks. I will spend the next month going to the gym to work on my strength and stamina to play serious tennis. Not bad for a 74 year old jock. Dr.Buckhalter took time explaining what was going on with my knee. I’m only 63 and I knew going in I had Lyme arthritis that damaged my knee. He was well educated in this type of arthritis and explained how he would proceed with my total knee replacement. He was professional and caring, he conferred with my Lyme dr. Over the phone while I was there! He did the surgery 6 weeks ago and my range of motion is at 90% already. The recovery is what I put into it now. He did his job perfectly and it’s up to me to keep moving! On my drs visits to see him ( I’ve had 2 since my surgery) he is eager to see my X-rays and always has a big smile n handshake for me when he tells me it looks great/ perfect on the X-ray! I came to Dr Buchalter because of my orthopedist is NY. He treated me with medication and Physical therapy and told me that I could have surgery when I could not walk more than 2 blocks without pain. I came into the office after falling in the shower. My knee. was swollen on down to my ankle. An X-ray was completed easily in the office to determine if anything was broken. I originally visited Dr. Buchalter in 2014. He performed a total knee replacement of my left knee. After surgery I had minimal pain, no swelling or bruising and a quick recovery! Recently encountered a lot of pain with the right knee and I knew I was headed for another replacement. I would not even consider going to a different surgeon. I was limping and saw several other doctors who told me it was my hip, my back or my knee. I saw Dr Buchalter. He did a complete physical and told me the problem was from my hip. He gave me a shot under xray and my pain disappeared. 6 months later he recommended hip replacement. He did it the new way from the front. I have had an on going battle with knee pain. I decided to search the for a Dr in Delray Bch after my research I found Dr. Buthalter's CV to be the choice. I consulted with him and it was dermined that I should have a knee replacement, I had the replacement on 1/17/17 after 3 wks of therapy I was walking on my own without a walker/cane. Recommended by my neighbor. Dr Buchalter explained the problem and gave me choices. When shots and PT didn't work, he suggested a knee replacement! He answered all my questions. The surgery was better than expected. 3 weeks afterwards I threw away my cane and after 6 weeks I was playing golf. The scar was nearly invisible! Better than my friends who had surgery elsewhere! I came to Dr. Buchalter after being referred by someone in my development. The office was very professional and Dr. Buchalter explained everything quite clearly. He gave me numerous options and treated my knee conservatively for three months. When it continue to get worse he explained that I could have surgery and there was a very good chance I could have significant improvement. He said I may not be perfect but I would certainly have an excellent chance of being better. He performed a new replacement and in a matter of two weeks I was walking with a cane and in four weeks I was walking without a cane and was in no pain. It's hard to believe that I was suffering for such a long time before Dr. Buchalter save my life. I would recommend everyone to him. I needed a hip replacement. I saw several doctors in the area and had Dr B do my surgery. He spent a lot of time explaining the surgery and did the Anterior Replacement. I went home the day after surgery and threw away the cane in a week. My limp is gone. I cant believe how easy this was. his office was great. I had a total knee replacement done on Thursday January 19, 2017. On Wednesday of the following week I was mobile enough to walk on a walker to attend a meeting. My pain has been minimal and my recovery is coming along beautifully. If I had known it would have been this great I would have done it sooner. Message body Came in with a fairly bad complex tear to the medial meniscus and some misc things common with people my age and a sports background. He was thorough and before we knew it getting prepped for surgery. The surgeon you select for knee replacement is your most important decision. I am a 75 year old diabetic patient and could not walk. As I write this it is one month and 10 days since surgery. I walk without a walker or cane, with a perfectly healed scar and very little pain. David Buchalter is brilliant. This is the surgeon you are looking for. All I can say is Dr. Buchalter gave me my life back! Having had knee problems forever, I never realized how it impacted the rest of my life. By the time I saw Dr. Buchalter to schedule a total knee replacement, I was fairly incapacitated. My back was so bad as well as my knee that I could not walk more than a half a block. I was reduced to using a motorized wheelchair anywhere I went. It is 2 weeks and 1 day since my surgery. I was in the hospital for two days only, left feeling better than I have in years. I am already walking pretty well without the assistance of a walker or cane. Therapists come and are amazed at my mobility and range. I am only getting therapy once a week but could have all I want with great insurance. I just don't need it. There is pain, do not get me wrong. The pain is no where as bad as when I started though and all of my horrific back pain is gone as well as my bowed in leg. I am so indebted to Dr. Buchalter for all he has done for me. I plan on doing my other leg in a short time and would not consider any other doctor than him. His staff is wonderful and patient. They answer all of your questions and are extremely organized. First off, some of the comments I have read on here are suspect to me. I went to Dr. Buchalter based on a recommendation from my best friend whom he did a hip replacement on. She said she now walks without pain and even forgets sometimes that she had surgery! Well, when I was suffering horrible knee and back pain, Dr. Buchalter took x-rays and told me that my back pain stemmed from my knee pain and showed me what was wrong. He gave me options for treatment and it sounded as if surgery was the way to go. He explained to me in detail what would happen, recovery time, PT treatment.. everything. He spoke to me before and after my knee replacement surgery and all I can say is wow. I wish I could show everyone here how well I walk now and with NO back or knee pain! I can even speed walk in the sand at the beach now and I'm only 4 months out of surgery! Please be careful when you read some of these negative reviews because it sounds like someone has a personal issue with the Doctor and its not fair to those of us real people! Trust Me! Dr. Buchalter is the best orthopedic surgeon in the country, hands down. I have suffered from terrible knee problems for the last 10 years. I had heard horror stories about knee replacement and kept trying to put it off. Finally, Dr. Buchalter told me that I was out of options and then he carefully explained exactly what he would do and how what he does is different from a regular knee replacement. He told me he would do a smaller incision replacement and use computer navigation to insure the implant was placed perfectly. He told me my recovery time would be a lot less and I would have less pain than with traditional surgery. I was skeptical, but then I talked to some of his other patients who had it done and they said it was not too bad and had been home in 4 days and could walk long distances with no pain at all. Everyone I spoke to said how amazing he was. Well, here I am now telling all of you how wonderful he is. I had the surgery and it all happened like he said and not only can I walk with no pain, I can ride a bike, play golf and I feel great! My mother (Alicia Raffinengo) had a hip replacement surgery recently with Dr. Buchalter, and she was very satisfied with the doctor and the results. Apart from the hip replacement, she had one leg shorter than the other and the doctor was able to make adjustments to even out her legs. She is so much better and happier than before the procedure.
