I absolutely LOVE Dr Shaw. He had to repair my whole shoulder because I fell through my deck and he had to reattach my bicep and repair my rotator cuff and a lot of other things and he did a great job and I am completely healed. I have been a patient of Dr Daniel Sparks for years and he has done several successful surgeries for me. Yesterday I went to see him not able to bear weight on my right leg. Pain was unbearable at times. Within 30 minutes of imaging and examination he had diagnosed the problem and performed the procedure to correct in his office. The pain was 80% better before I left. He’s straight to the point, has answered every question, and gotten down to business. I’m actually had. two surgeries in the past year, one of them could’ve actually been two by itself, but they were so amazing at pulling it together and only making me go through that pain one time And that was awesome since it was all on the same hand and arm Had remarkable healing time.. And also had major foot surgery. It kept me down for a while, but if you go to the treatments to everything they asked you to do. Dr. Sparks did a ACL replacement on my knee in 2016. He did a great job. I had a ACL replacement in Birmingham several years before he did the second one so I had knowledge of the procedure. A couple of weeks ago I started having knee pain and I made an appointment with him. I got in fairly quickly and the staff was very friendly and efficient. I had an X-ray saw Dr. Sparks and had treatment and was out of the office in 20 minutes. He throughly explained my problem what the options of treatment were and injected my knee with little to no pain. I would and have recommended Dr. Sparks for any of your orthopedic problems. My sister referred me to Dr. Ryan ; he had did her hips and knee surgeries and she was very pleased. I’m so happy she did. When I went to see Dr Ryan , I was in extreme pain and my legs were numb, I found comfort in no position. He did X-rays and determined my 3-4-5 lumbar needed surgery; He did the surgery and the pain was so much better and continued to improve throughout my 7 weeks of recovery. I could tell on my first appointment with Dr. Smith I had found a 5 star Orthopedic Doctor who was well knowledgeable in his field and my care would be at top priority. He made my nerves settle down with my first appointment and I could tell I wasn't just a number on a chart. My spine had suffered a great deal of trauma through a long life of working hard and dealing with situations that were beyond my control. He actually listened to my complaints and concerns about my spinal issues. He found out the the extent of my issues and got me started on the work I needed to try and deal with it and try and be productive again. I owe my whole way of life to Dr. Smith and his nurse's for actually carrying about me as a person and taking my problems seriously and helping me in every way that they have! This is the first time I have ever seen any Doctor who made sure to honestly help me and not just push me on out the door. I am still being seen as a continued patient who is now learning how to deal with my issues and continue in a almost normal life style so I can continue to live a productive life! I have had a couple of different issues with my back and Dr Smith has been nothing but exceptional on both occasions. My first surgery in 2018 required fixing a herniated disc and a fusion. Once I had recovered it was life changing and I was able to return to all activities including golf without any restrictions. My 2nd surgery recently July 2023 was for sciatica and another herniated disc that caused so much pain down my right leg and the loss of strength in my right leg to the point where it collapsed and I fell 3 times in just over a week. Here I am today almost 3 weeks post surgery and I feel fantastic once again. I cannot sing the praises of Dr Smith and his wonderful support team. Dr. Ryan had monitored a knee injury for years until it was clear I needed a replacement. A year ago he did a knee replacement. I am so glad I had the surgery. I have had an excellent recovery and now I can do what I had lost the ability to do. But then this summer I had an accident that resulted in a serious break with my wrist. I had total knee replacement in July after two years of putting it off. Dr. Ryan was highly recommended to me by a number of nurses & nurse practitioners. I trusted them & I’m so glad I did! The surgery went great & my pain was managed effectively throughout my recovery. Dr. Ryan listened to me, answered my questions & never made me feel hurried or stupid. Despite my age & weight, I finished therapy 2 weeks ahead of schedule with FULL range of motion - 132 degrees! I followed his instructions & that of PT to the letter and it paid off. I had hip replacement surgery on Monday with Dr. Daniel Sparks. It went amazingly well! I cjust can't say enough good things about it. I had hip replacement for my right hip 10 years ago in Georgia. This was completely different. Dr. Sparks is very kind and caring. He answered all my questions. The surgery went great and my legs are completely level. When I woke up, I was pain free. I actually had the surgery around 6:30 AM and went home at 4:00 PM the same day. I am already able to walk without a walker. I am 74 years old so this is a miracle! Dr. Sparks is and excellent surgeon and the most compassionate orthopedist I have ever know. He did both of my rotator cuff surgeries (left, 2017 & right, 2021). I had my first knee replacement while living in MD 6 years ago and was apprehensive to have my other one done after moving to Rainbow City because the first one went so well. I decided to go to Dr. Wilson at NEO and after trying the injections with no relief, it was time to replace the other knee. At my 2 week post surgery checkup, my knee bend was 138 degrees!! Dr. Glenn Wilson with Northeast Orthopedics (NEO) in Gadsden, AL performed my total right knee replacement (robotic) surgery on March 29, 2021. I have just completed my last PT visit at NEO on June 1st. All has gone very well. Dr. Wilson explained things expertly and in a professional manner from my initial visit with him to other subsequent follow-up visits post-op. He used X-ray images of my knee (before and after surgery) to explain and illustrate my successful progression. After many years of shoulder pain, I decided to get it repaired. Dr Wilson took X-Ray’s, ordered a MRI and diagnosed an extensive tear in my Rotator Cuff and severed / retracted tendon, which he repaired on 12-3-2020. Having been through surgery many years before on the other shoulder, I kinda knew what to expect. The surgery was perfect as well as the Physical Therapy but more importantly is the compassion, care and concern that was exhibited by Dr Wilson and his staff. This was a much better experience that my previous surgery over 10 years ago thanks to Dr Wilson & staff. Without any reservations, I would use him again, advise my family and friends to use him and truly appreciate his dedication to his patients. After 3 years of cortisone and Symvisc injections it was time to replace the knees. Double knee replacement December 2018 after rehab and physical therapy I returned to work April 1. Today I don't even know the knee was replaced. It works well and my quality of life (golf/water sports) have not been adversely affected. I would recommend Dr Butch for orthopedic work. About 10 years ago Dr. Kelley operated on one of my knees for a meniscus tear. A year after the surgery I forgot which knee he operated on because I was completely pain free and had a full range of motion. About 5 years ago he operated on the other knee for the same thing. I still can't tell you which knee he operated on first without looking back at the records because both are completely pain free.
