Overall a decent experience! Mostly what I expected. check in was okay with filling in the forms then going back to the waiting for labs, this was no time waiting I didn't even sit down, however, the young lady who took blood was without personality except to say what she was doing and she did it! No small talk including 'hello' ' how are you?' 'have a nice day!' Nothing except-"go down the hall and turn right, then wait in the gray room." It seemed so abrupt. I did not see my doctor but a nurse practitioner, which is fine except I don't think my doctor knows me (or wants to) because I've only seen him one time in the past 3 years! The nurse practitioner was delightful! But the best part was the check in nurse who asked all the questions then had issues with the electric reclining table flipping me down to scan my bladder and slowly raising my legs- it was quite funny! Then did it again after asking me to empty my bladder again!! She was apologetic but at the same time laughing with me! Don't go back for a year!! Dr. Farmer is a consumate professional. He took a lot of time not only to listen to my issues, but also took a lot of time to explain my tretment options. I did require an invasive procedure in the ffice during my visit. I am generally a very stoic guy. However, this procedure was very difficult for me, and he took the time to ensure I was OK and able to continue. He explained to findings in great detail along the way. These Ladies are very polite and knowledgeable cause I was switching from my ATNA Insurance to VA and they practically did it for me, GREAT PLACE for discovery, addressing the problem, then the healing begins. Sara was outstanding and had excellent communication skills. Very friendly and professional. Took the time to explain my medical problem and even drew a sketch of my KUB area to illustrate my situation. She presented several treatment options then immediately consulted with the doctor to get everything set. She then explained the intervention recommendation and set me up for surgery immediately. Sara and everyone I met were so very nice, caring and professional. It was a well orchestrated visit with virtually no waiting between tests. I have never been so favorably treated in any medical facility. I told my family and friends how impressed I was with my walk-up visit and surgical placement of a stent during the single visit. Everything went incredibly smoothly. I was never alone except for perhaps a couple of minutes. Each person walked me to the next procedure as soon as they completed their portion. I just wanted to do a review of Dr. Kalish and his team. It's a difficult thing to not have oneself exposed to strangers in such a way. But the whole team has taken such a proffessional way to make me feel comfortable in that respect. Now the situation I'm in with catheters is a tad painful. But Dr. Kalish and staff has made this as painless as humanly possible. And trust me when I say I am a 62 year old baby when it comes to pain..the surgury that we choose after discussing all options was a success. Dr. Kalish took the time as did the nurse practitioner to make me feel like I was not a number. Which in this day and age is rare. I'm progressing well. And I highly recommend the folks at Urologic. I've never had a problem with them. The dr. (Kristopher Whitehead) spoke with me about having an outpatient procedure done. He answered any of my questions. The procedure was suggested to improve my quality of life. I was nervous about it, at first. I must say I'm glad I met him and he suggested it. Words cannot even express how thankful I am for this man. And the entire staff, nurse Shana Autry specifically! Had the stone from Oct 1st - Oct 14th. After going into the New Albany ER.. not once.. but twice.. for a lodged 6 mm kidney stone and UNBEARABLE pain.. also turning into a UTI. I followed up with Brent Harden Urologists, office in New Albany and Oxford. He told me I could schedule the surgery as an elective within 4 WEEKS, or if I built up an infection, could not hold food or water down due to pain, then he would consider it an emergency. Dr. Posey showed my husband and I SO MUCH CARE, and immediately told me we could be getting the stone out TODAY. Also gave me information on a specialists to help me control the stones. From the minute we stepped into the office from when I was being discharged from surgery.. only 7 hours. AS A WALK IN! So extremely thankful. I was admitted to hospital with severe shortness of breath and swelling. I was found to have a bad aortic valve and needed surgery. The surgeon said my body could not withstand the surgery. There are not may physicians that are as trustworthy as Dr. Kalish. He explains everything! He is willing to take the time to discuss the various options. He talks about the pros and cons and then he makes a recommendation. When asked what he would do for his father or brother, his answer was, exactly what I am recommending for you. That spoke volumes.
