This was the BEST appointment EVER!!! The lady who did my eye exam was AWESOME! Professional, Kind, Knowledgeable, and Understanding. Anna took care of my eyes before and after the injections. Anna is AMAZING! Because of her Professional Expertise I had little to no pain from the numbing medicine. She sincerely wanted to help me and her kindness is very much appreciated. I am 100% pleased and satisfied with the care provided by Dr. Steven Huddleston and his staff, not only with the professional care during my treatments for AMD, the entire staff is courteous and friendly. I've been having eye injections for over 7 years at the Clinic..with this staff and physician. I credit my sight present improvement to them, as well as my future treatments. Who doesn't want to be able to see the faces of their loved ones caused by the Loss of frontal vision? I do! And I work in an office atmosphere, daily on my computer, I'm an avoid movie buff and am an independent 78 age single female, that depends on her sight. Thank you to Dr. Huddleston and his staff. Dr. Huddleston is a very professional doctor! He has great bed side manners which for me is the best thing when doing his job! His staff is above board polite informative and kind. They are sincere and really make you fill comfortable. The follow up on surgery is even wonderful so professional and just amazing. Dr. Huddleston sets the example and his team at tge surgery center are GREAT! Im grateful to them and I recommend anyone that has eye issues to see Dr. Huddleston and also Dr. Jessica Haynes. All these people are professional knowledgeable funny kind and well even when I woke up in recovery I said weres the donuts lol lol she said next time lol but how about something to drink. Coming to Charles Retina Institute was one of the best thing that happened to me. Dr. Salar Rafieetary and Staff are so friendly and always greet you with a smile. They have TV's for you to watch and magazines for you to read while waiting for your name to be called. Once my name is called, the person that dilate my eyes and take X-rays of my eyes are so professional in getting the Job Done. When time to see Dr Salar Rafieetary , he greets me with a hello and smile and ask me how I'm doing, have I been experiencing any problems. He is so Professional in explaining the pictures on the X-ray and letting me know what procedures he will do next, and the medicine he will give me for my eye injection. Wonderful visit with Dr. Charles and everyone in His staff. Everyone puts one at ease when it is a scary thing with your eyes. Andy was very informative, patient answering questions super nice as well as the young man who did pictures, and the young lady who prepared me for the eye shot was awesome. She placed a sticker above the eye to be treated, tissues to catch the eye drops from running down my face, checked with the Dr to make sure what kind of drops l could have since l am allergic to Caine drugs. Young lady she was teaching super nice too. l will be back in 10 weeks. l would like to have the same people taking care of me. Just a wonderful experience.<br>l thank God for Dr. Charles. He is a great Dr and took his time to explain how much better my eye was after first visit. l am so blessed to have him as my doctor.

As a 25 year, type 1 diabetic, Dr. Huddleston and Charles Retina Institute have ALWAYS taken care of me. Not only did they save my right eye but they are high-quality post-surgery specialists. The staff is always kind and engaging and most importantly they listen. I’m sure I could try to find better care in Memphis but I’d be a fool if I didn’t lean on them. The proof is in the pudding as long as you possess patience and are willing to care for you own well being. Thank you all!

I would have lost sight in my right eye if it weren’t for the expertise and swift action of Dr. Sullivan. A branch had hit my eye and lodged a thorn, after this an infection and blurred vision developed. Dr. Sullivan drove 45 mins to get the medication I needed and met me at the ER with it. What he did helped my vision return almost completely. He went above and beyond to make my problem his emergency. Thank you Dr. Sullivan

This was the quickest I have even gotten in and out. A very little over an hour all together clinic time. I ran into someone I know and every time we get into a good disco would get called back. About every 15 minutes or so. Dr Jaymes was incredible. I love that she gets excited for her patients when they are doing well. She is so very compassionate. Such an asset to the clinic.<br><br>Updated:<br>TRANS PARA PLANAR VITRECTOMY with Salar Rafieetary, MD on October 15, 2025, o left eye also included Dr Vinson. Surgery was at Baptist Women's Hospital. I could not have asked for better care from the entire crew. Dr Rafieetary performed the same surgery on my right eye last year. That surgery was a success and I anticipate this one being equally as successful. I HIGHLY recommend and will request Dr Rafieetary for any future surgeries.

This was my first visit to the Charles Retina Institute since my relocation to Memphis. As with any 'first' visit to a new doctor, nerves are high. But, from the moment I walked in and was served by the admissions receptionist, to the nurse who provided my next service, and to finally seeing Dr. Charles, I felt cared for. I was impressed and truly appreciated the receptionist pronouncing my last name correctly. I felt heard at every station, with each care provider discussing in detail with me my medical history. The level of care was comparable to that of my previous doctor in the city I relocated from, and that was reassuring. Been a patient of Dr Charles for several years. He's the best of the best! He saved my sight in my right eye after multiple detached retinas. I travel 500+ miles to see him and would walk if necessary. Always feel certain in whatever he tells me is going on with my eyes and the technology used at Charles Retina Institute is always up to date (very important when it comes to the Retina). He just did another surgery on the eye (my last prior surgery was in 2015) and he (along with his fellow) did an amazing job. I called for an appointment for a sudden onset vision problem, and was given an appointment within 1 hour! I am a brand new patient and they accommodated me right away. I was examined promptly and fortunately, my problem was not a serious issue, but the symptoms could have been signs of a retinal tear. The technicians were helpful in taking the photos, the doctor quickly reviewed my retinal photos, and then performed a very thorough retinal exam...all within one hour. When I made my appointment to see Jessica Haynes, I was told the appointment could take anywhere from two to four hours. It actually took about an hour and a half. The front desk was very nice, polite, helpful, and seemed to honestly enjoy engaging with the patients. The technician, who took photographs, and other eye scans, was equally friendly and knowledgeable. I was then introduced to Dr. Jessica Haynes, who, in my opinion, was outstanding. We’ve had extraordinary experiences with Dr. Rafferty. My Mom was under his care in the early 2000’s and his behavior in dealing with her 93+ year old personality was wonderful: patient, explaining things to her (respecting her dignity as a capable person instead of talking to me). I have found that same personal attention to my case. He is knowledgeable and caring. Give him a 10-star rating! Dr. Huddleston is an amazing doctor! My vision was almost gone in my right eye due to hemorrhaging. I can see well now through both eyes. He always explains the current condition of my eyes very thoroughly. Some people complain about the wait, however patients come from many different states for the quality of care that we receive. I was living in Atlanta for two years and never hesitated to come back home for my appointments with Dr. Huddleston. The wait time has decreased by half of what it was when I initially came. For the blessing of having my vision restored, I will happily wait as long as is necessary.

Dr. Sullivan is a very nice young man with a great smile. He has been very professional and knowledgeable of his services. Sometimes I have a short wait and other times I wait longer. I had surgery on November 22nd. When I say all of the doctors and nurses were amazing! I can't began to describe how comfortable they made me feel, especially with this being the first time going under to have a major surgery. I was terrified and hadn't gone back yet. I tend to forget names, but the consultant was the first person I spoke with in the back, she made me laugh and let me know it was going to be okay.The only hold up was them trying their hardest to find one of my extremely tiny veins while apologizing over and over. One of the doctors asked me if I wanted to hold his hand as he finally found a vein. I was given extra blankets straight from the warmer and almost fell asleep then and there. They made sure I was comfortable and introduced me to the anesthesiologist and another nurse. I don't remember much after that, except seeing doctors standing over me briefly then waking up in recovery.My eye hurts every now and then but they did an AMAZING job! I have very little pain, my vision is clear, eye straight after dealing with strabismus and blurred vision for years and I want to cry because this is a surgery I've wanted for a long, long time!!Thank you Dr. Fong and team for your courtesy, skills and knowledge. I have to go back November 30th for post op but my life has changed for the better overnight seemingly.And drink plenty of water!!Love you all,Adrian West

I don't know why this doctor does not have fifteen thousand awesome Reviews... I drove from Fort Lauderdale Florida to see him in Memphis Tennessee. He has performed 4 invasive surgeries on me.. I had severe diabetic retinopathy...Without this doctor I would have lost my eyesight seen many doctors before him and they told me that my surgery is not looking promising and I have a very. Good chance of being blind. I had to wait a long time in his waiting room granted. There were so many people from so many different places it was scary but as soon as I saw him. I could see the confidence in this doctor versus any doctor that I have ever faced. He did such an awesome job said all the other doctors that ever looked in my eyes can not understand how you use such a small needle which no. One can even see the surgery. I am writing to tell other people no matter what you hear or think this doctor has invented this surgery. He is amazing and your eyes are worth The Visit. Doctors tend to make me nervous, especially in the current climate, but Dr. Huddleston was cool. He made me feel totally comfortable. I like knowing what is going to happen every step of the way, and he explained everything to me. The office made me feel safe with all the precautions they are taking. I'll definitely stay here and stick with him as my eye doctor.

Dr. Huddleston, nurses and staff at the Jonesboro Clinic are not only professional, but are also caring and courteous. they are very knowledgeable, and have great patient support from the beginning to the end of the visit, that is rare, they actually ask the patient how they are doing, and what’s going on with them. The Doctor then listens, to what the patient has to say. I have been a patient for the past few years and I am very satisfied with the professionalism and care that I have received. My father is from out of state and has eye issues that require treatments. His eye doctor that he normally sees had recommended Charles Retina Institute while he spends time with me each year. This is the third year that we have utilized this institution and have nothing but raving comments about their professionalism and service they provide. They constantly go above and beyond the call of duty to assist and help in any way they can. In our most recent visit my father had eye surgery by Dr. Huddleston of Charles Retina which went remarkably well. During a follow up appointment which showed the significant good results from the eye surgery my father was experiencing some other difficulties which required some attention from a cardiologist, and from being out of state wasn't sure where to turn to for assistance. Dr. Huddleston immediately assisted and had an appointment for my father the very next day. Our compliments and sincere thanks to Charles Retina Institute for being such an outstanding organization.

Wonderful folks! Couldn't ask for more caring and knowledge people in this business. Wish I had gone to them with my other eye 3 years ago. Dr. Salar is the most thorough ophthalmologist that i have ever had the pleasure of being seen for cataract problems subsequently surgery. He is patient, kind and listens to all you are saying pertaining to eyes. I would highly recommend him to everyone who needs seen by a terrific human being as well as being a well educated and caring ophthalmologist. I will not be seen by anyone else. That is just how awesome he is!!

Some might complain about the wait but maybe the motto should be Well Worth The WAIT! Remember, CRI is dealing with the most delicate and difficult part of the eye (retina) so it's natural that the appointments take time. Plus, he is thorough in testing and takes each individual's case very seriously. Dr Charles is probably the best retina surgeon in the US (if not the world)! He is straightforward but brilliant and always a perfectionist! While others may complain about this, it's exactly what I want (even if I had to sit there until the place closes). He saved my sight from several unsuccessful surgeries a few years back and I gladly travel 500+miles to have him care for me! His influence in the world of retina (technology, teaching and innovation) will probably never be repeated and I'm so thankful he's my surgeon.

The physicians are friendly, and answer any questions I have about my vision/treatment. I have little to no wait time. The triage nurse is prompt calling me back when I have an emergency concerning the eye. It's a great place and I recommend the facility!

Saved my eyesight on 2 occasions from 2 separate incidents of torn and detached retinas. Go to the webpage and check out the credentials of their Doctors. This is the cream of the cream of the crop. These people are leaders and pioneers in their profession. They treat you like a person, not an insurance claim.

I have been seeing Dr. Charles since February 2014. I had a torn retina and he did surgery that day. I have had two torn retinas in my right eye and 5 torn retinas in the left eye. He has been great treating me. Every time something happens to my eyes he always gets me in and takes care of my problem. The staff at the office have always been extremely nice to me. The staff at Hamilton Eye Institute have been great and always treat me with professional care. I would put them up against anyone.

Dr. Charles is a wonderful doctor although he is a bit arrogant. He repaired a macular hole and left me with vision in that eye. I have had macular hole surgery four times and the surgery that Dr. Charles did by far rendered the best results.

He may not have the best bedside manner, but he is the best eye doctor. Yes, sometimes you do have to be patient, because if something arises he stops everything to do immediate surgery. What more could you ask from a doctor?? I have gone to him for more than 40 years, I was one of his very first patients when he came to Memphis. You will never find a better retina doctor. His peers highly regard him, other doctors who have been his residents, he keeps and recruits only his best of the best doctors to work with him in his clinic!

Dr. Charles did amazing surgery to repair my eye. I went to several doctors to seek a Dr. that believed they could help me. I felt most confident in. Dr. Charles and I had the confidence to pursue surgery. The results changed the quality of life in a very positive way. After 3 Dr. told me that there was nothing they would do to help me, Dr. Charles gave me hope and performed the life changing surgery. Thank you Dr. Charles!

Traveled from out of town for epiretinal surgery in both eyes. He was by far the most knowledgeable of the doctors I visited with on the condition and I am very pleased with the outcome.
