Two years ago I came to St Paul Eye Clinic (Roseville) as a VSP insurance carrier when my long-time ophthalmologist left practice. I have to say that Dr Thielke has been great. He is personable and easy to build trust with. He spent time with me explaining what he is learning about my eyes and educated me on what to expect as I age. As far as cases go, I am middle aged, my eyes are healthy (aside from being a glasses wearer), and I don't have any underlying genetic or medical conditions. I did order glasses after my exam, and because I did an online check-in, I was offered to choose glasses styles prior to my visit so the frames could be ready once I was there. As a lifelong 4-eyes, this was a really nice touch. I do not like shopping, so this option added another convenience that will keep me coming back. So very impressed with entire organization. From the receptionists at front desk as well as Samantha who completed the visual field testing and Nicki who completed the glaucoma pressure testing and a visual acuity test; everyone was extremely professional, knowledgeable as well as kind, patient, and caring to my 97 year old mother. Dr. Horkey had obviously looked at not only the current test results from his office personnel, but also was knowledgeable about the test results from my mother’s previous ophthalmologists in Indiana and Tennessee. I arrived a bit early and had my first visit as a new patient. The receptionist was EXTREMELY polite, professional, and upbeat! She went above and beyond by filling out the majority of my paperwork for me! That was a REALLY NICE surprise!! For the first part of the eye exam, initial info and preliminary work was done by an assistant for Dr. George. This young man was just as professional, polite, and efficient! At this point, I was impressed with the team as well as the technology being used. When Dr. George arrived, it was without delay. He greeted me by name with a smile, and had a positive, energetic manner about him. He was thorough, efficient, and friendly. I had a few questions which he answered in layman’s terms. Dr. George’s pace was right on the mark! I did not feel rushed through the eye exam process… like “just one of his many patients of the day.” Dr. George demonstrated a courteous, detail-oriented, personable manner. He put me at ease, and my visit was pleasant. This is How he did that: Before beginning, he explained what I can expect as we did each part of the physical eye exam… BEFORE beginning each part! I had an excellent experience getting eyeglass frames and lenses picked out and ordered from there RIGHT AFTER my eye exam!! It’s challenging for me to know which frames fit properly. The sales rep was EXTREMELY patient and knowledgeable regarding this. She was well-versed with the insurance coverage paperwork AND crunching the numbers for my part of the cost. She made this part MUCH easier for me! She listened very well to what my preferences were with frames. Together, we found a great match— a frame with a terrific fit, AND one that met my criteria for how they looked! One important reason for me choosing this particular eye doctor was because their online marketing promoted a strong focus of their COVID precautions. The actual daily routines of each of the team members here DO follow what they present online. The other reason I chose here is because there are a number of eye specialists on this team. The majority of them have a strong educational background. I firmly believe Quality Care comes with knowledge, experience with continued education, and listening to the client.
