Update: 7/23/2025 I had successful cataract surgery in both eyes and am so pleased. At my 4 month visit, Corey the tech spent lots of time with me, recording everything I was experiencing, answering my questions and preparing my eyes for Dr. Vize's thorough exam. He was so personable and pleasant to be around. Dr. Vize's exam looked thoroughly into the old eye balls, checking every inch. She had some great suggestions for my RX and dry eyes care and worked hard to find a difficult RX that worked. Taylor was there to record everything. The ladies at the front desk are always so welcoming, with friendly smiles. Both my husband and I are grateful to have found these folks. 2024 Wow! A second wow. We were so amazed and happy and grateful for the exam before my husband saw Dr. Vize for the redness on his eye lid. It was so thorough and efficient and kept at a pace an 80 year old could follow. Dr. Vize was amazing in her thoroughness in diagnosing his adult pink eye and proscribed the needed medication. He is already seeing improvement. Has been a month since my cataract surgery, procedure went great(later this month going in for YAG laser clean up on my right eye which I had surgery on in 2015 in California). The facilities and staff are top notch and this is the cleanest most organised medical facility I have ever seen(Including most hospitals!). Doctor Vize may have saved my life. I suddenly lost vision in one eye lasting over 5 minutes before returning to normal. They got me right in and after a thorough exam she ruled out it being an optical issue and told me to be seen by a cardiologist or go to an ER asap. I did as told and it was determined that I had experienced a Retinal Artery TIA. Up until this happened I had zero awareness that loss of vision in one or both eyes could be signs of a stroke. I actually went into the institute thinking that I needed cataract surgery since a clinic in Michigan suggested that I have it. Once returning to AZ, this institute was recommended. This eye exam was the MOST comprehensive exam I have ever had. The team demonstrated an expertise. Dr. Ramsey and Dr. “J” explained pertinent issues that directed me to focus on hydrating my eyes and seeking out a retina specialist as a wrinkle was identified (the etiology of a “veil” that appeared in one eye). The lenses were not cheap but that was my choice because I was hopeful that I would get rid of glasses after 58 years. I need readers but so far do not need glasses for distance. I had cataract surgery on my left eye on 08/06/2024. Dr. Ramsey did a great job going over the various types of interocular lenses available. I went with the standard IOL. Dr Ramsey was transparent and explained well how I would not benefit as much from the other types of IOLs. This could have been a situation where I could have been persuaded or pressured to move to a costlier IOL. Dr. Ramsey was very patient and kind in answering my questions. The cataract removal procedure was explained in easy to understand terms. The vision correction options were explained. Dr Janousek took over my care after cataract surgery. I had laser adjustable lenses which required making sure my eyes were completely healed before being treated by laser to improve my vision. It took awhile due to RK surgery I'd had in the 90s, but I can now drive without glasses and need a much lighter prescription for reading and computer work. My wife and I had new patient appointments at this facility. We walked in expecting to be inundated with paper work, but to our surprise it was just answering a few questions at the front desk and that was all. Then we were told to go to the waiting room and we would be called for the exam. Waiting only a few minutes each of us was called and answered more health questions and had a basic set of tests by an assistant. We were given eye drops and told to wait in the waiting room. After around 10 minutes we were called back to another office, waiting for Dr Vize. She arrived and reviewed my tests and did other types of eye exams. She was a little concerned about one of my eyes having glaucoma, so she wanted more testing done. What great staff and Dr Vize was super. After this testing was completed, Dr. Vize reviewed the results with me and said I was ok, but she wanted to test this one eye again next year I would highly recommend using this facility ....courteous, efficient and just a nice place to be examined. Hello, my name is Michelangelo, I unfortunately have had very bad vision ever since I was young. I struggled with seeing in school, and even watching tv was a struggle. My parents decided to take me to Swagel Wootton as it was the closest eye care center near my home. I still remember my first day almost a decade ago. I was quite nervous as it was my first time getting an eye exam. Dr. Hiatt was extremely professional and very nice. Recently, these past couple years I’ve had the pleasure to have Dr. Janice Pierce for my yearly check up. Dr. Janice is an amazing Optometrist who informed me that I was a candidate to have LASIK surgery. I have had to wear glasses for several years now until I decided to undergo LASIK surgery this past December. I was quite nervous since being able to see without glasses has always been a dream of mine. Dr. Loan Ramsey performed the surgery on me and was able to give me better than perfect vision! I currently have 20/15 vision. Dr. Ramsey is absolutely incredible and I could not thank her enough! I have to also thank My surgical coordinator Danielle for making this possible for me, she was incredibly straight forward and made sure I had everything I needed leading up to the surgery and answered any questions I had! I have been coming to this place for a couple years for medical and standard eye reasons. They have been the best place by far. Their staff is really knowledgeable and willing to help. They have state of the art machines and equipment to help you with all your eye needs. When I went to the department to choose some prescription sunglasses I was helped out by Diane she was VERY helpful with choosing a pair that would fit within the bounds of my insurance (I think we went through an entire display case). Once I found a pair she got me fitted and realized that my IPD wasn't completely symmetrical so she found a way to adjust for that. Diane was super friendly and professional. I didn't know what to expect when I found out I required Cataract surgery, but everyone at Swagel Wootton were wonderful! From when my referral went in, to when they called me was less than a week (compared to the local comprehensive eye center which took four months to call me). Prior to knowing of Swagel Wootton Eye Institute, I was a chronic glasses-wearer for almost 20 years. Now, that’s all behind me since I got LASIK a few weeks ago. I’m seeing 20/20 and couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, the process was incredible. The entire staff was so friendly and I knew I had the best care in Dr. Ramsey and her team. After waking up post op day 1, I was already seeing 20/20 and 95% of the discomfort from the surgery was gone. I would recommend Swagel Wootton to anyone who is considering LASIK. This was by far one of the best experiences in a medical office. We all know we have to wait in a Dr. Office, but the staff is nice and efficient. Dr. Ramsey is the best. I am very pleased with the outcome of surgery on both eyes. They are great communicators and keep you updated on the process. I had lasik surgery in the Mesa location with Dr. Aurora a week ago and I can honestly say it was the best decision I have made. Every interaction I have had on about a handful of visits the staff are always smiling and welcoming. Dr. Aurora explained the whole process before the surgery, during and after answered all my question and made me feel confident about the decision I was making. So earlier this week I got tested to see if I'd be a good candidate for Lasik, low and behold I was accepted! And on Thursday June 25th, 2020 I had my procedure. Prior to the surgery I was tested for COVID-19 at their office. Showing how thorough they were on making sure not only I was safe, but also the entire company in these troubled times. In regards to the surgery it went very very well! I couldn't be any happier with the results. The lazers used are definitely top of the line and gave me vision beyond my expectations. I walked away with 20/10 vision and maybe once healing is complete, further tests may need to be done. But I'm truly blown away with the quality of work they have done. When I had trouble with my cornea, Sheri Turner, co-manage coordinator, got me in to see Dr. Litoff that day. Dr. Litoff and his team determined that I needed to immediately start taking drops of Lotemax to calm the eye and reduce swelling. After my appointment, Sheri stayed with me to make sure I had everything I needed and was able to drive home. I received excellent care at the Swagel Wooten Eye Institute. My Dr, Dr Pierce was very competent. My exams were thorough and never rushed. Her assistants were very professional and helpful as well. We are moving to Korea soon. The assistant looked up Korean health care on line to help give me an idea of what to expect there. I was so impressed that he would take the time to do this! I had put off LASIK for so long: I told myself my vision wasn't that bad because I was scared of getting eye surgery. From the moment I walked through the doors, to every staff member that I met, I was comforted and knew I was in the right place for me. I did do a 2nd consultation somewhere else and they did not even come close to making me feel comfortable and confident the way Swagel Wootton did! I felt like I was someone who mattered at every step of the way, and not just another patient. All of the staff members shared their personal experiences with me and answered whatever questions I had for them. From my first sit-down with Michelle, I knew I was going to do the surgery here. She made me more excited than scared about the procedure through increasing my knowledge and praising Dr Ramsey (... and she wasn't wrong in doing so). Dr Ramsey was AMAZING! She explained every step along the way, so there were no surprises and I was very comfortable. She is extremely knowledgable and you can tell that she loves what she does (which makes her that much better at her profession and interactions with people). I just had my surgery yesterday and I can see nearly perfect today. I have already began recommending family, friends, and co-workers. Best decision I could have! The most life changing positive experience!!!! From the kind women helping us check in at the front desk to the nurses, and tech assistants, this place provides the most exceptional and professional experience I could have asked for. I went in legally blind thinking I would never be able to see on my own- and came out of surgery with better than 2020 vision, thanks to the outstanding service provided by the doctors, nurses, and technicians. I cannot express how full my heart is and how thankful I am for the service they provided. My LASIK pre-op appointment went smoothly and efficiently to determine the best refractive treatment options for my eyes. I am absolutely amazed by my experience with Swagel Wootton Eye Institute. Dr. Matthew Hammond was able to correct my vision in BOTH eyes by performing LASIK on just my myopic left eye; I can now see 20/15. I never imagined that I had poor vision or that it was possible to see this clearly. I feel as though I can see in high-definition and am motivated to accomplish even greater things with my new heightened sense. Two months ago I went in for LASIK eye surgery at Swagel Wootton Eye Institute in Mesa, AZ and Dr. Matthew Hammond performed the procedure. The procedure went smoothly and my vision is now 20/15. After wearing prescription eye glasses for over 20 years I no longer need them. I couldn’t be happier! For years my eye Dr. had been telling me that I was an excellent candidate for LASIK but I kept putting it off. I should have listened to him because my only regret is not doing it sooner. The results are nothing short of amazing. I was blown away by the doctors, the staff and the results at Swagel Wootton. The office is beautiful and the staff is professional, courteous and friendly. I went to the Swagel Wotton Hiatt Eye Center to see about cataract surgery after hearing about it from a friend who had gone there. I was extremely pleased with my initial visit to see about the procedure. From the people in reception to the woman I spoke to about my surgery to Dr. Herion who checked my eyes and did the surgery they were all very professional and very friendly. The days I had the surgery, the people in the clinic were wonderful and very caring. Dr. Herion did a wonderful job and I had no pain at all during the surgery or after. I'd just like to take a minute to give props to Swagel Wootton Hiatt Eye Center. They took extra great care of my Dad during his last few visits to complete cataract surgery and laser eye repair in both eyes. The man now has better eyesight than both of his kids! We first visited this office because it was listed under our insurance-covered options. When we reached Medicare age, we opted to stay just where we were. Since that time, Dr. Hiatt has operated on both my husband and me for cataract removal. I can't tell you how pleased we are. I love that she doesn't push for the most expensive treatment options but actually reviews your individual issues and recommends the best option for you specifically. She's personable and thorough. Great office staff. I was there 17 years ago with not the greatest of experiences and a such was very hesitant to return but this most recent visit since has changed my mind.
