He's a very nice, knowledgeable doctor who tells you how it is. Im 63 and have seen my share of doctors and can read them pretty quickly. He didn't tell me what I wanted to hear ,but he told me what I needed to hear and I respect that. I read a lot of the reviews before I actually met with him and found some of them to be completely wrong. He's very nice and explained everything to me thoroughly and gave me options. I dont know if he will be the doctor doing my surgery but that's because I have some physical issues that need to be dealt with first. Also I might need a surgical specialty facility to have my knee replaced that he doesn't have access too. I would 100% have Dr. Burning do my surgery if it where possible.

This clinic was extremely professional with foot orthopedics, with 30+ years experience in seeing speciality drs I can say this with great confidence. They Ran diagnostic tests during consultation and were able to give me results the same day! When it comes to injuries it is critical to keep yourself from being injured any further and understanding how to care for your injuries. This way your healing process can begin. He does not recommend unnecessary methods or surgical procedures that are costly and not truly going to be beneficial to you as his patient. . This Doctor can treat entire foot just slightly above ankle. I am thankful for his professional integrity.😊Dr. Scot Youngblood is a very professional, calm man. His voice is gentle, also which is key for children and the elderly at doctor’s visits. My experience has been excellent with Dr.Youngblood. I recommend him highly.

I Went to C Dr Mathew 4 a consultation for Carpul Tunnel Syndrome. EXCELLENT BEDSIDE MANNER SO FAR. I PLAN ON HAVING SURGERY IN BOTH HANDS(not @ tha same time) He practices @ the Sports Medicine and Othopedic Center near Alvarado Hospital in san Diego. I will give an update after the 1st Surgery 4/20/2020. 5/10/2021 Excellent Dr. I received outpatient surgery on my left hand for trigger finger. Dr SHILITO is an excellent hand surgeon. This procedure was done on 09/7/2021. No more trigger finger it's healing well. Again I say he's an excellent surgeon, excellent customer service and and beside manner. I'm grateful to have him. Would I c him again, hands down hell to the yeah. Posted 09/20/2021. By the way both Carpul Tunnel on both hands went well and my hands have completely healed thanks to Dr Shillito and my Trigger finger is fixed as well, again thanks to Dr Shillito

Dr. Shillito was great. He didn't jump immediately to a surgical solution to my arthritic thumb which was refreshing. He explained how we could remediate my arthritis symptoms via steroidal injections every three and a half months, along with the implementation of a small brace that would ease the pain which he promptly showed one that was available on Amazon, and a less expensive version that would yield the same result. I was grateful for his expertise, kindness, and professionalism. The injection was painless. Thanks, Dr!

I really appreciate the care that I receive from Dr Gavin Kologdge. His attention to detail and compassion truly makes me feel like my health is just as important to him as it is to me. This office runs so smoothly! I arrived on time, was greeted with a smile, waited in the waiting room for just a couple of minutes, and was called back to an exam room. Within another few minutes, a gentleman came and took me to the X-ray suite. I was x-rayed and returned to the exam room, where I was seen by the doctor, checked out with a date for my follow up appointment, and was back in my car, all in the span of 15 minutes! The staff seem friendly and happy in their jobs, and the office runs with a precision of service like I have never seen in any medical office in my entire 65 years in this planet! I am being seen at this Orthopedic Clinic for both an issue with my Right Knee Meniscus Tear and an issue with Rheumatoid Arthritis and and Carpal Tunnel in my left hand. Dr. Burnikel is a fantastic surgeon! His whole team is filled with rockstars as well. He repaired a particularly difficult meniscus tear when other surgeons would shave it leading to arthritis. He was adamant about the repair from the initial consultation, and I’m so thankful. Scheduling was a breeze (Susan is his care coordinator, and she’s a doll and SO helpful!). Dr. Burnikel was thorough in his explanation of everything, and I felt fully prepared and informed going into surgery. His X-Ray technician at Synergy was great & knowledgeable, his nursing team at Synergy was friendly, and the staff at the surgery center was stellar (special shout out to Dennis who prepped me for surgery and my OR nurse Kimberly who prioritized my comfort and pain management!). This was my 4th knee surgery (all different surgeons), and I wouldn’t hesitate to work with Dr. Burnikel and his team again if I ever need a 5th.

Dr. Kolodge I just want to express how grateful I am for the care I received today. I walked in with a pain level of 10/10 from severe SI joint pain I was in tears and couldn’t walk. The doctor saw me immediately, administered an injection, and within a short time, my pain dropped to a 6/10. He is incredibly attentive, compassionate, and has a true gift for helping people. I blew out my knee really bad by rupturing my patellar tendon. Dr. Burnikel’s calm and cool demeanor reassured me that we would get me back to 100%. He explained everything in layman’s terms as if I was a 3rd grader which really put my mind at ease. With past surgeries from over surgeons, I was stress out that something would go wrong but I never had those same butterflies with Dr Burnikel. Spectacular Doctor!!! Highly intelligent, sharp as a freshly sharpened blade, yet extremely kind, caring and attentive to my specific needs, questions and concerns. He swiftly and thoughtfully assessed my problem, and immediately formed multiple plans. He has an altitude of thought that I’ve only ever encountered in one other doctor ever. It only lets me rate him 5 stars, but he is a 10 out of 5 star doctor! I cannot say enough good things about him. And this is coming from someone who strongly despises the healthcare system and doctors they’ve encountered before. There is simply no question that he is the Doctor to go to for your Ortho needs.

These people have the best customer service I’ve seen in a medical facility. They’re all friendly and professional. Appointments are easy to schedule and are scheduled soon instead of two months out. I’ve only started being seen at Dr. Youngblood’s Alvarado office about a month ago. So far I’ve been able to see Dr Chang and Dr Youngblood, gotten an MRI at the Fletcher parkway location and have scheduled a follow up after the mri for next week. I’ve been trying to get care for this injury for over a year and this office accomplished more in less than a month. It’s miraculous in this day and age!

Dr. Shillito is a brilliant surgeon – he deserves the Oscar for best wrist surgery! He is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, clear and fun to work with. He explained my options and outcome expectations in a way that was easy for me to understand, so I could feel comfortable. The morning of the surgery he was kind and caring, and his friendliness afterwards made me feel confident that all had gone well. Dr. Shillito even called my husband to let him know the surgery was a success, which was very appreciated. Six weeks post surgery I have resumed many of my activities and I’m getting better every day. And I’m not on any pain medication! I could not have asked for a better outcome or a better doctor.

I had a left knee meniscus root tear injury that was repaired by Dr Sirota in November. They got me into surgery very quickly and were very caring. Dr. Sirota is compassionate and listens to his patients. He explained surgery and recovery time to a "T" I'm back to work and taking long walks in the wilderness. My surgery was a complete success! He also did surgery on my other knee in 2020 with a great outcome. Dr. Sirota and his staff are amazing!

I just wanted to say that my meeting with Dr. Chang was very positive. He was very forthright and honest with his thoughts concerning my condition. Prior to our meeting I was feeling a bit hopeless. Along with the extreme pain that I live with, I also have other issues with my health that I thought might get in the way of the help I was seeking. Dr. Chang informed me of a few other options to try before deciding on surgery. He is a very pleasant person to talk to and he was very respectful and very empathetic towards me. The physician assistant and Dr. Burnikel are pleasant and outstanding to interface with. My 92 year old mom was experiencing daily knees pain for over 3yrs from an undetected fracture hip. Dr Burnickel was able to treat the pain immediately and provide future alternative solutions to treat the pain without surgery. Dr. Kolodge has been treating me for lower back pain after total knee replacement surgery. He diagnosed an often misdiagnosed sacarilliac problem for which he performed a procedure of injecting cortisone to relieve this excruciating pain! As anxious as I was during this procedure, he and his skilled team allayed my fears and performed like the well coordinated, highly skilled professionals that they truly are! Along with his surgical skills and techniques he utilizes, he is a truly delightful individual who always has a ready smile and an upbeat, confident and positive attitude! The doctor was very patient, I felt very relaxed with him, he was conservative in his recommendations, I do medical law, and have to say I completely agreed with his line of thinking and recommendations moving forward. He is warm versus indifferent and willing to answer all of your questions. He was not in a big rush trying to get you out of the door like most doctors are these days. I accompanied my mom to her appointment today as she wanted to get a second opinion before finally deciding on scheduling her surgery with her primary doctor. To begin, the front desk staff as well as the nurses, were all very courteous, attentive, and professional. To my mom's delight, both the PA as well as Dr. Shillito offered another alternative to surgery. Like the rest of the staff, Dr. Shillito was also very attentive as he took the time to listen to my mother's concerns and offer suggestions, despite probably having a very tight schedule. He is probably the doctor that has let me rehabilitate my hands, now I can do the dishes and eat with either hand holding my fork normally, things I could not do before. He also taught me how to use the gyro ball. My partner, myself, and my physical therapist could not figure out how to work it. That is a clear indication of his intelligence, he is an asset I will make sure I’m doing fine by making an appointment in the future. Dr.Shillito gave me cortisone shots that facilitated the healing process. If I needed surgery he is definitely highly capable of performing the monumental task of surgery. The good Doctor is brilliant. I don’t know for a fact he is a surgeon, either way I would still trust him with the task of surgery just because he placed the cortisone shots right where they did the most good. It took about a year, but to have use of my wrists again is like a miracle. He is a gift to this world. Thank you Dr. Shillito

I can't begin to give enough praise to Dr. Shillito and his entire staff! I had Dupuytrens Contracture on my right hand and all four fingers needed to be released. The surgery took 3 hours. After only a day and a half, I could feel all the tips of my fingers! There was no pain and minimal swelling. I had physical therapy 7 days after surgery and could achieve almost full mobility! All nerves and tendons are functional and with my therapy, I will recover fully! As a classical guitarist, this outcome was critical for me! It is clear Dr. Shillito is an outstanding surgeon and individual and I will recommend him to all of my friends and musicians.

Everytime I've been to the office has been a great experience. I'm scheduled for surgery in 10 days and Dr. Sirota and his staff have been super accommodating. They've gotten me in touch with the hospital where I completed a webinar about my joint replacement, I've had my pre anesthesia phone call to review my info, answer questions and scheduled me for my covid screening, they have had the company contact me to deliver my walker and other devices that I'll need post surgery, and submitted my referral for physical therapy and I literally didn't have to do ANYTHING to get all that handled. The wait times in their office are usually non existent, in fact I arrived early for my last appointment so I expected to wait a little while but instead I was leaving the building at the time my appointment was originally scheduled for. Everyone is SO nice and patient. Really great office and experience!!

Fast forward to 3 months ago. My right knee became so painful I could not walk on it. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Sirota (his office staff was easy to work with and very professional). Dr. Sirota provided excellent explanations and descriptions of what the problem(s) could be and also explained the avialable treatment options. He listened to me and answered all of my questions and I never felt "rushed". We decided to go with the cortisone shot, and in less than a week the pain in my right knee was gone. I followed his advice and did the exercises that he suggested, and for the past 60 days I have had no pain or issues with the knee. He explained that the pain may return after a longer period of time, and if it does we will continue down the road to a "fix". In today's medical world where it's usually "quantity over quality" as far as patients are concerned, I feel that Dr. Sirota is an exception and I would highly recommend his services to anyone with any kind of knee problems.

Dr. Shillito was great. He was able to diagnose my issue and give me exercises to make it better within a few minutes of seeing me and my x-rays. He could have had me come back but he understood that was I was capable and motivated to do what he had suggested, so he said there was no need to come back. As a cash paying patient, this meant a lot. The issue I was had was a jammed finger. I had ignored it for about 4 months before I came in to see Dr. Shillito. I wasn't sure if what I was doing on my own was making it better or worse. He explained a few things to me, let me know how to rehab my finger and I was off. He said it might take quite a while for it to get back to normal, but within 3 days of doing what he had told me to do I have seen notable improvement. Thank you Dr. Matthew Shillito

Had a great time at SOS4PAIN! I’ve had a few ribs that have been bugging me for YEARS now. Today was my follow up appointment after having carpal tunnel release surgery 10 days ago. After years of having numbness and pain, I finally got over my fear of having the surgery and had it done and I am so happy that I did! From beginning to end the experience was exceptional. Dr. Shillito, Rachael and the rest of the staff are professional and personable, everything you want in a medical facility. The surgery was quick and actually quite easy on me because everything went better than I could have expected. Within 48 hours after surgery I had no issues with any numbness or tingling like I had had before I had the surgery. I recently went to sos 4 pain and I’m so glad I did! I’ve been going to various chiropractors for years and Dr. Anthony Salmon is the best! After seeing many Ortho Drs and Surgeons over the past 8 years for the same chronic shoulder pain, Dr B was the ONLY one to not dismiss my concerns and properly diagnose me. He did not immediately want to have surgery, recommended a great PT that was also the first after many other ones to actually help. I might still end up having to have the surgery, but if I do, I will be confident it was the right decision and with the right surgeon. Dr. Burnikel is a great doctor. I had an ACL Reconstruction and a meniscus repair done and my knee is practically as good as my non-injured knee. Dr. Burnikel is really reasonable doctor. He goes above and beyond to help you out even if you don't really need it. My mom was curious about a knee brace but he explained that in my condition I probably don't need one. To make my mom feel better, he went out of his way to write me a referral for a brace incase she wanted me to get one. Needless to say, Dr. Burnikel knows how to treat patients but also treat families. On top of that, Dr. Burnikel's works is phenomenal. I barely have any scars on my knee from the whole surgery. One aspect of this whole process that I particularly liked was how thorough Dr. Burnikel was. For physical therapy, Dr. Burnikel made my own rehab schedule that my therapists need to follow which I believe most people probably would not recieve from other doctors(At least that's what my physical therapist said). For my "Return to Sport" Protocol, even my therapist was impressed with how specific and in depth my test was. Not only was my test different than what most people take, but it was a lot harder and truly tested the strength of my knee and the graft from the surgery itself. I feel confident that my knee will last the rest of my lifetime. Thanks Dr. Burnikel!

San Diego Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center (SDSMOC) was able to get me in the next day with Dr. Shillito. Broke my fibula is March. I got a referral to Dr Burnikel! He did a gravity stress X-ray that another medical group didn’t bothered to do. He showed and explained to me why surgery was recommended. He welcomed me to get a second opinion, which I declined, after having listened to what he had to say- I didn’t feel it was necessary. He knows his stuff. He’s also kind, efficient and his technology is new and up to date. His medical assistant, David Carias and X-ray technician, Jose, went above and beyond to assist in my recovery. I was able to email David during my recovery with questions or concerns and his responses were prompt and thorough. Jose even tightened up a loose screw on my knee scooter, because I mentioned I’d fallen off of it. It was fine after that! The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The surgery went well- I knew what to expect every step of the way. The incision healed well and is hardly noticeable. The surgery staff did everything to make me feel safe and comfortable. They followed up to see how I was doing. Highly recommend this medical office. Glad I found them.

Due to circumstances, it seemed the best path to do a bilateral total knee replacement surgery instead of the traditional route of one at a time, a few weeks or months apart. I couldn't be happier. I have had numerous physical therapists, nurses, doctors, etc tell me how well I am doing, how far I can walk, ability to traverse stairs, and strength. My pain is low and managed with pain meds taken as needed. I still have a LOT of rehab to do, but I walked 5/8 mile with walker 10 days post op, and that's after a six day set back from an abdominal obstruction. I have stamina, focus, energy, and lack of pain that I haven't had in many months. Dr. Sirota did an amazing job on a very rarely performed surgery, and I couldn't be happier. I am looking forward to lots of rehab and driving my stick shift car, hopefully within two more weeks.

Dr Shillito and his team were amazing from start to finish. I had a badly displaced fracture that was not resolved during an ER visit and needed to be surgically fixed. Dr Shillito was compassionate and explained the details clearly. The surgery was perfectly executed!!! Despite the severity of my fracture, he ensured that I had the both the best orthopedic correction but ALSO the best cosmetic consideration! My scar is a small as could be. I scar very easily and very badly, he did all he could to minimize the appearance. Post op care and recovery were important to him and he made sure I got in to therapy right away to get back full use of my hand and wrist! No one WANTS to have orthopedic surgery, but if you do require it, Dr Shillito should be your FIRST choice!!!

I like Dr Shillito, He took the time to explain what was wrong with my pinky finger. I broke it in a fall but was in denial..then I had trouble with my health insurance...so even though it took me several weeks to come see a Dr. He didn't judge me or make me feel bad for waiting so long. Showing me the x-rays and explaining what needed to be done. He was honest and up front about the options. I felt that i was well cared for by he and his staff. The office girls were so wonderful to get me scheduled for surgery the same week. He did the surgery and was very involved in my recovery. I've had 2 surgeries in the last 2 years done by Dr Burnickle. The first was a tendon release on my left elbow; the second a total knee replacement of the left one. My elbow was healed within a month, and it felt as if nothing had ever been wrong with it. Even the scar is completely faded by now. I'm just now 90 days post-surgery on the knee, and it is already close to 100%; I'd rate it at 98 now. I'm not young, looking at my 6th decade of life, but going forward is a much better prospect thanks to Dr Burnickle. If you need orthopedic care, there is no one better.

I came to San Diego Sports Medicine with a broken clavicle from a dirt bike crash. Dr. Burnikel performed surgery installing a metal rod through my collar bone. He recommended this over a metal plate and screws and I'm glad I went this route after talking to friends that had their clavicle fixed with a plate and screws. I had arthroscopic shoulder surgery 2 months ago with Dr. Burnikel. The process was seamless! From the front office to the back they made the entire appointment process easy with x-rays, mri, scheduling surgery, etc. Every encounter with the staff at this office has been great! Dr. Burnikel is a really, really good surgeon. He was spot on with my diagnosis and I am so glad I had surgery. I am still healing and going through physical therapy but expect to be fully recovered and pain free in the near future. If you're looking for a good shoulder specialist, this is your man.

It was my first time and the staff were extremely proffessional and caring about my health.I especially liked the doctor who treated me because he was really nice and helpful and was there to treat me, which made it a great experience and I am truly grateful for this.The doctor's office was exceptionally clean and I felt comfortable.

Dr. Page is an amazing surgeon and her medical assistant, Heather is always super friendly and helpful. My son had surgery to repair a non-union navicular bone fracture in his foot. His surgery and recovery good not have gone better. Thank you for the wonderful work that you do!!

I cant say enough as to how pleased I am with Dr Sirota's skill level and attentiveness to my injury. (ruptured Tendon for Bicep) Healing well so far so good. For anything Orthopedic in nature I highly recommend SDSM and Dr Sirota , Theyre great reputation is very well deserved.

I brought my mom to this clinic and met with Dr. Testo, his assistance and Xray tech(Jose). They were very professional and kind. Dr. Testo seemed one of the best doctor in this field. My mom got injection at her left knee today. She came back home and took a nap. When she woke up and started walked around home, her left knee felt lot better already. She was very happy about immediate results. Super thanks to Dr. Testo and other wonderful staff.

Dr David Burnikel is an excellent doctor all around! I went to see him nervously knowing that I needed knee surgery for a high grade ACL ligament tear in my left knee. He was very informative about my options for my surgery and to the point about the process of healing. He has excellent bed side manner and I have felt at ease through the whole process.. He did a great job on my surgery . I think I will have very little scarring and I'm healing nicely! Great staff experience as well!

Dr. Burnikel is very nice, caring, and a great listener. I was feeling like no one believed me and the pain I was going through with my right shoulder. Then I was referred to Dr. Durnikel. That was the best thing that could have happened to me. He found what was wrong with me and now I am on the road to recovery. Thank you so much Doctor!

He's one of the best doctors Sports Doctor he's very nice current time he explains everything to you so that you understand each and everything he's going to do or have to do or suggest to them the rest of his team is very nice office visit is very nice. When I went in to have my surgery I had to have a complete left knee replacement his bedside manner was immaculate made me feel comfortable made me feel like everything is going to be okay I'll talk to him before surgery right after surgery when I came to I seen him every day that I was there he made sure everything was okay I wouldn't give him up for nothing in the world he's one of the best doctors and head for surgery every knee replacement or should I say joint replacement so yes I will recommend him to any and everybody if you have any problems with your joints you need to call his office make an appointment and talk to him one thing about it he's for real is real talk he tell you what's up front he don't he don't sugar-coat nothing for you so you know exactly what's going on and that's something that I really. He may look young and good-looking which he is good looking but he is a good doctor don't let the looks fool you you don't have to be old to be good so if you haven't joint problems called San Diego Sports Medicine & orthopaedic center. Dr David J Burnikel is one of the most experience doctor in this field. I think he's one of the best doctors everybody has their own opinion but that's mine and I've been through quite a few doctors in this field and he's turning out to be one of the best for me so I'm sure he'll be in the best for you so you need to check him out if you needed make an appointment you won't be sorry. I think it feels good to be without excruciating pain and he did that for me so yes I rather be pain free send to be walking around and paying on the time so yes I had the surgery yes I'm going to physical therapy but yes the pain is only from the surgery I don't have the pain I had before the surgery and each day is getting better and better and all I can do is say thank you to my doctor David J Burnikel . (👼 HE IS) God truly guys his hands when he's in surgery and I feel so good about that that's my feelings he is an angel Sent From Heaven to help all those in need this kind of surgery.

Dr. Burnikel has provided excellent care at both his prior and current offices. After a bad fall, my elbow was shattered and required extensive reconstructive surgery. Dr. Burnikel has offered wonderful patient care before and after surgery. He is attentive, compassionate, and always gives ample time for patient questions and dialogue. If the need were to ever arise again (knock on wood!), I would confidently choose him as my surgeon. Dr. Burnikel truly cares about his patients and I am most grateful for the treatment I have received.

My review is for Dr. Burnikel, I followed him to SD Sports Medicine from his previous location. Dr. Burnikel is a ROCK STAR!! I broke my ankle very badly in an accident last fall, and Dr Burnikel put it back together. I've carried pictures of my xrays and showed them to other doctors, physical therapists, and generally anyone who wants to see them. Everyone comments on what great work he did. Better yet I'm functioning normally just a few months later, and believe me it was a BAD break (well two breaks). Best of all, I've had VERY little pain. I mean we're talking almost zero. I haven't even had to take a Tylenol since just a few days after surgery! Thank you SO MUCH Dr. Burnikel!!

After a fall that dislocated my index finger and broke a bone in my hand I was cared for by Dr. Shillito. He was great and did what it took for me to get total function back in my hand. His bedside manner is also very calming and reassuring. I would recommend him.
