Dr. Buchanan thoroughly talked through my images, listened to my background, concerns and intentionally discussed all potential treatment options. He then explained them clearly and if they were a good/better/best or not recommended option for my current and future treatment(s). I appreciated his thorough explanations and conservative approach to treatment both immediate and long term. He takes time to listen and respond and was not in a rush to move on to the next patient. It’s never fun to have to see a surgeon, but Dr. Buchanan is top tier. He isn’t in a rush to cut, he is highly analytical and thoughtful and helpful. I wish All surgeons were as thoughtful as he is. Dr.Buchanan, is the greatest!!!!, when I started with him I was walking bent over and in so much pain. Dr. Buchanan explained what he could do to help, he was very compassionate and honest with me and gave me the opportunity to make the decision to move forward. I had the surgery and immediately after the surgery and coming out of recovery the back pain that took me to the surgery was completely gone and I have not felt that pain since the surgery. A highly esteemed surgeon friend of mine directed me to Dr. Buchanan for a cervical disc replacement procedure. Dr. Buchanan and his team exuded professionalism, humility, and, if I may say so, represented the crème de la crème of the medical field! Prior to the surgery, I harbored rather vivid apprehensions, which were promptly addressed with empathy and clarity by his compassionate team. In my view, Dr. Buchanan should be your premier (and perhaps, singular) choice in your pursuit of restoring lost functionality due to nerve impingement or damage. Upon awakening in the recovery room, I am informed that I repeatedly pinched my previously affected limb, exclaiming, "Holy s***!" as if in disbelief that I had already regained sensation that had been absent for at least eight months, if not longer. Dr. Buchanan is nothing short of a miracle worker, and a truly kind and caring human being. I had a traumatic spinal injury that I suffered while in Mexico and he was kind enough to review the video of the CT scan that my wife sent from her phone in Mexico to help me understand how severe my injuries were. I was medically transported by plane to TMCA and Dr. Buchanan had a bed waiting for me. After a 9 hour surgery, I was able to walk and stand again the next day. The team he had was top-notch. He was very thoughtful in his post-op care and made sure I was able to resume all of the activities I enjoyed before the injury (minus cliff jumping lol).
