I was able to ask questions and he was very kind, informative, personable & articulate. A month ago, I had a total CMC replacement, tendon transfer & a pin to fix my permanently hyperextended joint. I have a long recovery, but was WELL prepared ahead of it. (I truly cannot explain how appreciative I am of this step.) I have felt cared about through this entire process by Dr. Lohse & his entire team. Dr. Lohse called 2 days after surgery & his staff has been highly responsive through my month of healing if I call or email. I have in the past, had surgery on my thumb with all the follow up appointments... always came away with a feeling of complete satisfaction with the his work. This appointment was for a very painful hand/wrist. The team was absolutely amazing in their abilities to make this procedure work smoothly and efficiently. Doctor Lohse was thorough, efficient and wonderfully effective in making this interaction both educational and professional. I left his office knowing that I would be pain-free in a matter of days. Yes, he is that good. 24 hours later the pain was notably reduced down by 75% and the swelling down by 60%. One of the finest. A few years back had procedure on one hand for trigger finger (perfect results, hope I'm not jinxing). Second hand was treated with injection. All resolved. This time was for tennis elbow. Aside of being super nice, always very thorough with explanations, (and you will get a printout as well), he is very clear and percise on both diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Lohse and the Proliance team was awesome from start to finish!! Went in for hand and elbow surgery. First time surgery, little nervous, but everyone made it smooth. Had fun checking in the morning. RN pulled me back to review everything and she got the IV set up in one try!! Dr. Lohse and Anesthesiologist came in to review again, then it was go time. In the OR, went under in two seconds, and next thing you know we are already done. Waking up felt little nausea but the RNs took care of me with some fluids and anti-nausea. This was my first consultation with Dr. Lohse. He came in having read up on my file and mentioned my having been through a lot to date with my symptoms. After sharing his thoughts about my possible issue, he recommended an MRI before he could really diagnose my particular diagnosis. We will come back together when the test is returned to him and go over what it shows . Dr. Lohse was kind, calm, listened to me, and came across as if he had nothing else to do but be there for me. I appreciated his bedside manner, and not rushing me to “ get on” with the next patient. I had seen two other surgeons prior to seeing Dr. Lohse, and neither of them came close to him in any area of wanting to choose them to operate on me. If he decides after the MRI that surgery is indicated, I will have no question about letting him go forward operating on me. Dr Lohse is a fantastic surgeon and the consummate care provider. Key word there is care, because Dr Lohse showed me showed the utmost care, compassion and empathy during my consultations with him. He took the time to explain the damage sustained and surgical options available to me. Words cannot express my gratitude to him for helping me regain the quality of my life I desired after a major injury to my hand. I underwent a hemi hamate, one of the most complex procedures, which involved grating bone from my hamate to repair a knuckle in my finger. The outcome of this surgery was outstanding and I’m tracking towards regaining full and unrestricted use of my injured hand. I will never forget how before surgery, in the pre-operation room, he told me that “it’s going to be great” and “let’s go get your tennis grip back” as I was very concerned I would never be able to play tennis again. Hearing your surgeon tell you that things will be fine and sensing that he he cares about getting you back the things you like to do is all you can ask for before surgery. I came to Dr Lohse a broken man, both physically in my hand and mentally dealing with pain, uncertainty and the possibility of impaired hand function for the rest of my life. Another great experience with Proliance Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine!!! After falling on a hike and injuring my wrist, I first thought I broke my wrist, but an X-ray did not show anything broken. A few weeks after having an X-ray my primary care physician thought an MRI was needed to get at the bottom of some serious pain I was experiencing in my wrist. After the MRI, I was referred to Dr. Grant Loshe at Proliance Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. Being very active in snow skiing, hiking and other sports, I have had several surgeries through Proliance Orthopaedics & Sorts Medicine, and each time I am amazed at the great medical care and thoughtful treatment I receive. Going to see a surgeon about potential surgery is not at the top of anyone’s list, but once again, my positive experience with Proliance was confirmed. My appointment with Dr. Loshe was a delight. It is never fun to discuss potential surgery, but Dr. Loshe was thorough in his examination, and thoughtful in his approach to treatment. Within 24 hours my right hand is 40% improved. The other wrist will require minor surgery for which I am confident of a positive outcome. I wish I could rate him higher than a five. Dr. Lohse not only did an excellent job on my Carpel Tunnel Surgery on both of my hands but I was very impressed by his professional manner during the surgery since I was able to hear what he was saying during the surgery.
