Recently, I got a referral from my personal physician to seek a further evaluation for a knee injury that hadn't quite healed, after having been seen by a P. A., and having gone through a regimen of physical therapy. I asked to go to Excel Orthopedics in Woburn, MA. Over the years, I have been treated at Excel Orthopedics by three different doctors for three different orthopedic problems. Each doctor was stellar, kind and competent. Also the Excel office is very well organized and smooth functioning. Recently, I saw Dr. Czarnecki, and after evaluating an X-ray and MRI of my knee, he chose to treat the knee minimally, with a cortisone injection, as a follow up to one I had had seven months earlier. Dr. Czarnecki chose this course of treatment rather than recommend surgery. He restored full knee function without pain. I was told I had a labral tear in my hip at another orthopedic practice. I was referred to Dr. Czarnecki for a second opinion and immediately knew I would go with him for my hip arthroscopy. He took the time to answer all my questions, explained why I needed the procedure, what would happen during it and what recovery would look like. My surgery went as well as it could have and at 8 months post op I am back to all my normal activities. I forget I had surgery most of the time! I had a very bad fall with several broken bones, dislocation and tendon damage. Dr. Czarnecki was compassionate and understanding from the first day. Not only is he an immensely brilliant orthopedic specialist with many accolades, he has a warm bedside manner. I had been seeing another doctor for my ankle who advised I would need a complex surgery to fix my ankle. I saw Dr. Czarnecki who said that that was completely unnecessary and a simple ankle arthroscopy would do. He was right! I had the surgery done 2 months before my wedding and was able to dance the night away and walk the beaches on my honeymoon.
