Dr. Coleman was so kind and compassionate, and was extremely helpful in explaining all the idiosyncrasies of my upcoming surgery. The staff was also amazing - so organized, friendly, and positive! I've gone back twice so far for post-op appointments and the excellent medical care continues! I've had a variety of orthopedic surgeries over the last 13 years in Northwest Florida, but since 2022 I've only gone to Andrews Institue even though it's 2.5 hours from where I live. The medical staff and surgeons there are phenomenal - nothing else compares in the Panhandle...If you live within a few hours of Gulf Breeze it's worth every mile and every minute spent traveling to get such specialized care with state of the art technology as well. From the girl checking in to the entire staff, wonderful, helpful and positive attitudes. I had made a mistake and scheduled an appointment with my Neurologist thinking it was Dr. Coleman, only to find out months later when I finally went to the appointment, but now at the wrong place. Figured out I had the Doctors mixed up after seeing my Neurologist the second time. Immediately after that appointment was over, I go back to the Hand Center to try and set up an appointment with Dr. Coleman. I was able to see him the next week, and after Dr. Coleman saw my results from the Neurologist informed me, I needed the surgery a year ago after first seeing the Neurologist, then was able to schedule the surgery the following week. I cannot thanks Dr. Coleman enough! I’m a ER vet, I perform surgery on a daily basis, my hands are my livelihood. I received a minor bite on the index finger of my dominant hand from a bearded dragon that because a horrendous infection in about 12hr. After an ER visit, a GP visit, and a referral to a different surgeon who couldn’t see me for almost a week (despite my GP attaching pictures of my finger and marking it as an urgent referral) I started to panic. The infection was continuing to worsen despite treatment and I was terrified it would reach the bone. I called my GP back and her nurse got me in contact with Dr. Coleman who agreed with the urgency of my case and after seeing pictures of my finger worked me in the same day (despite being fully booked) to perform out patient surgery. Worst case scenario with these types of infections can result in amputation of part of the finger. I cannot thank him enough, I still have weeks of recovery ahead of me before I can perform surgery again but I’m on the mend and feel much more confident that I’ll regain full use of my finger. Dr. Coleman has been my hand specialist for two years after transferring from Bayside Othopaedic. I was attacked by an autistic student severely injuring my hand and wrist. He is an excellent doctor and has been very understanding of the emotions that I have dealt with, because of this attack and injury. Overall experience was outstanding! I was involved in a very traumatic/damaging motorcycle/vehicle accident at 50mph, which mangled my right wrist and hand. After 9 months of hand and arm injury therapy I was told I would probably have to accept my disability. I called Dr. Coleman , he prescribed testing for nerve damage. When the results came in he performed a painless surgery that lasted about 30 minutes and I am now able to move my fingers and arm in a normal way. Still require a few stretching exercises to be 100% but I am already at 90% in 3 weeks. Dr. Coleman, nurses and staff are amazing. I am so grateful and wish I had known of them much sooner. Once again the Coleman team was exceptional. Professional, courteous, and responsive. I ended up requiring surgery for two elbow related injuries; a torn tricep and a lot of bursitis. Perhaps I was one of the fortunate. Post surgery, two days, was nearly pain free. I barely needed the pain meds. My elbow is healing well at two months out and considering what I had done I believe I am doing well. Dr. Coleman performed carpal tunnel release surgeries to both of my wrists in December of 2017. I was referred to him by my primary care physician, for whom he had done a carpal tunnel release surgery a couple of years ago. My doctor was very satisfied with her results and so am I. Dr. Coleman is the best surgeon ever! I have torn the cartilage in my wrist a couple of times so badly that it needed surgery. Each time Dr. Coleman has fixed my wrist perfectly. He really took the time to figure out what was wrong with my wrist. He does tend to run late occasionally but he is worth the wait. He treated me with respect and listened to my concerns. Then check-in process is uncomplicated and can be done online days prior so the wait is cut down- you are usually seated in an examination room within 10 minutes of arrival. Dr. Alexander Coleman was outstanding, judging from my experience. Being one of the worst breaks he had seen, my wrist is now 85-90% back to normal less than a year later. Of course, with the break being so bad, it was never expected to get to 100 % again. Scheduling and preparation as a new patient was very easy. Arrived a little early and was seen a little early. Staff was very courteous and helpful and Dr. Coleman was very attentive and explained everything thoroughly. I was referred to another doctor for further testing and will follow up with Dr. Coleman soon. The entire process and visit left me feeling very good about my choice for care. I had severe pain in my left hand from arthritis in my large finger. X-rays showed that my knuckle had deteriorated. Dr. Coleman examined me and determined that he could help me by replacing my knuckle with a rubber joint. Dr. Coleman performed a wrist fusion of my right wrist, and I could not be more pleased with the result. The wrist bones have fused, and most importantly my 10-year history of wrist pain is over! After that procedure and time for the wrist bones to fuse, he also diagnosed the pain in my right thumb to be arthritis, and treated it with an injection. The pain in my thumb was gone within 2 days! On Nov. 13, 2017 and again on Feb. 14, 2018 I had hip replacement surgeries in St. Petersburg, Fl. with Dr Vladimir Alexander of Alexander Orthopaedics Associates. I specifically chose Dr Alexander from his being praised by pleased return patients and my own impression of his demeanor and what I saw as a sincere interest in wanting to help you, if you were willing to do your 50% of a " joint effort ". I am now 8 weeks post op on second hip replacement and I am quite pleased with progress with both hips. This is an ongoing project, not always easy or comfortable but with an excellent skilled Surgeon, a personal commitment to work hard and return to my 45 year career as a Fitness Professional Trainer and Instructor, and the help of great PT's, who understand setting and achieving personal goals I will succeed. Went to Gulf Breeze ER with what we were pretty sure a broken wrist as you it completely snapped almost all the way back I was in tremendous pain. ER took X-ray’’s they called Dr Coleman’s on a Friday at 4:50 and he said send me over.. He examined and determined it needed to be operated on immediately as his concern was that I might lose feeling in my hand it was pure numb. Us & Dr. Coleman went over to Gulf Breeze Hospital. They started preparing and he realized that he didn’t have the correct size plate. Dr Colman got on the phone, himself and located one in Mobile, AL. He operated and fixed it!!! I will always be thankful as without a doubt he saved my wrist. Followup care was unbelievable, he and his staff make you feel like a friend every time I came in and all would remember things that we had discussed before and inquire. I honestly can’t believe that someone said he does not have a good bedside manner. He has always been very approachable and takes his time to explain things in detail. Dr. Coleman is great. Had surgery on one wrist- DeQuarvian’s tendonitis and carpal tunnel. Scheduled the other wrist for surgery- can’t wait to be pain free.
