Dr. Thayer is an absolute superstar! From the initial consultation (taking the time to listen, answer all of my questions, and explain the pathology and natural history of my condition), to my surgery, to the follow up. Dr. Thayer is highly skilled and I would strongly recommend my family and closest friends to see her for anything related to her field of expertise. I had a severe Dupuytren's contracture in my ring finger of my right hand. MP and PIP joint contractures. MP contracture was 45 degrees and PIP contracture was 80 degrees. Dr. Thayer performed my surgery on 12/6, which included fasciectomy of my right palm extending into finger including MP and PIP joints, and local soft tissue rearrangement with multiple Z plasties and primary closure. I am now 8 weeks post surgery. I have full extension of my finger, complete feeling in palm and finger, no pain, and the scarring is minimal for only 8 weeks beyond surgery. PT was right next door and Megan was amazing and even pulled Dr. Thayer over to see my hand while I was in PT, post surgery. Dr. Thayer is warm, thoughtful, highly intelligent, and highly skilled. Dr. Thayer has a pleasant manner, took a thorough history and performed an excellent physical assessment, including taking new images of the CMC joints. She then used a graphic that she drew on a page to explain the progression of care for osteoarthritis of the CMC joint of the thumbs, explaining why surgery would be the next treatment and why not receiving cortisone injections today would be necessary. Great surgeon on my broken hip. It was fractured in two spots, and she fixed it superbly with a metal rod and screws expertly placed. I just did some reading of a professor saying that the placement of the screw across the neck of the femur is critical, especially how far the screw goes in, too far and it risks exposure should the bone wear, but importantly, too short and the head can crack off. Mine is exactly at the sweet spot where the professor said to put it. It is text book perfect, which requires great skill, patience, and craftsmanship, as well as the fund of knowledge behind it.
