My 77 year old mother fell and broke her finger. Dr. James Piorkowski set it for her with a few pins and a soft cast. The procedure was quick and almost pain free. The staff from beginning to end was fantastic! The facility was clean and organized. The instructions for pre-op and post op were clear and explained to us both well. I was seen in urgent care Sun for a foreign body in my finger. They were unable to remove it, so I was referred to Dr P, a hand surgeon. The very next morning I received a call from his office and got an appointment on Tuesday. I was called back at the appt time (no waiting). His office staff was kind and knowledgeable. Dr P was able to remove both pieces that were deep in my finger and I was in and out of the office in 45 minutes. Pretty amazing care!

I went to Dr. Piorkowski with generalized hand and arm pain with some minor curling in my pinky fingers. He recommended an anti-inflammation diet and wrist splints at night for three months. I followed the diet he recommended and I felt better all over within 24 hours. I visited his office three months later with significantly less pain. Dr. Piorkowski is AMAZING! He has been my doctor through TWO separate hand injuries and he performed an INTRICATE surgery on my husband's hand where he literally had to do a tendon replacement by threading a tendon from another muscle through his hand. The result was SUCCESSFUL, and now my husband has a 100% functional hand again! Both of my injuries have resolved also, thanks to Dr. Piorkowski's treatment. I was a particularly bad case for Dr. Piorkowski to take, but he helped me anyway. I tore my distal bicep tendon in early May and was initially seen by the Pensacola VA, who threw me into what can only be described as a 4 month long nightmare of a waiting process. Without getting all the way into that, I’ll just say that their incompetence caused a delay that would eventually place me into a timeline between my injury taking place and (4 months later) finally being seen by ortho doctors. The first doctor that I was seen by determined very quickly that it had been far too long since the onset of my injury and the day thathe was able to see me initially, as the injury was no longer new/fresh enough to work on. The VA hadn’t even so much as gotten me an MRI (do NOT use the VA in Pensacola). So, first doctor says he can’t do it but that he knows a guy (Dr. Piorkowski) that might…just maybe, be able to help me out. Fast forward a week, MRI is done, doc Piorkowski squeezes me in to get seen. He reads the MRI, takes a look at me and says he’s not sure if he can help but he will give it a shot and make a decision on what specific level of repair he can make while performing the surgery. I wake up from surgery and he’s there, letting me know that while it was not easy at all, he was able to completely reattach the tendon, basically fixing my arm completely. This was a surgery that no one else wanted to take or even deal with. Dr. Piorkowski even cut along the lines of my tattoos to the point that you can’t even tell that I had surgery at all. I feel great, my arm looks and works like normal again. His entire staff was amazing from other surgeons to nurses and the ladies at the front desk. If you need ortho surgery, this is your guy!! Dr. Piorkowski is far and away the best out there. Very down to earth. Did an amazing job on my bicep tear. I have full strength back with zero pain and no visible scarring at all on my full sleeve tattoo. His staff is amazing. For pre surgery and follow up appointments, in and out of the office in like 20-30 minutes, if that. No long waiting times in the lobby. My 6 year old daughter was able to be seen the same day for a badly broken finger. She had surgery the same week a few days later. Throughout the entire process I knew there was no one else I could trust with her. Dr. Piorkowski was honest, informative, and thorough through all the challenges we faced. His entire staff was incredibly kind to me and my daughter. Dr. Piorkowski is available via cell phone which is unheard of, but it provided comfort when it was needed. I will also add that his PT staff was just as amazing and helped my daughter regain use of her finger. I have since recommended Dr. Piorkowski to several friends and they are equally happy. I wish we could go to Dr. Piorkowski for all of our medical needs as I highly trust him, but I will only take my gymnast to him when she needs him again! I recently had 2 hand surgeries performed by Dr Piorkowski, He is an excellent surgeon, patiently answers pre-op questions, and responds quickly to any post-op questions. He asked for pictures to be sent to him directly so that he could monitor the healing and responds within minutes to provide feedback. Requested to be put under Dr Piorkowskis care after talking to several of my friends that he has operated on. They agree that he is without a doubt one of if not the finest hand surgeons in our area with a wealth of knowledge and experience. The thing that sold me on his care for my continuing condition is that he gives all his patients his cards with his personal Cel number. This implies that even a Dr that has monumental amounts of responsibility continues to understand that compassion for people will elevate him to the status that he has achieved with his patients. There is no doubt in my mind this is the reason he has achieved a 5.0 rating while other Drs have much lower assessments by their patients because they insulate themselves from their patients through layers of aides and assistants that do not have the expertise to diagnose unforeseen problem when they arise. Both my wife and I had appointments with Dr. Piorkowski. We arrived early and the reception desk quickly saw us. We eventually made it to a room and Charles came in to speak to us. My wife's issue was a shot and that discussion lasted only a short time. He then turned to me an provided me a substantial analysis of not only my hand issue, but also an analysis of some neck pain. I was very impressed with Dr "P"! He went into great detail to explain my x-rays on my right hand/ wrist. I have been in great pain for the last almost 2 years. I had a fall, broke my knee & caused a real problem with my hand. Obviously I had to have a FKR, so the wrist was on hold. A couple of doctors later..now Dr P...3rd Dr, I finally know what's going on and it requires surgery. I recently embarked on an adventure to North Florida Bone and Joint Specialist, for my first appointment with Dr. Piorkowski. From the instant I walked through the doors, it was an atmosphere so inviting it practically whispered, "Welcome, kick back, relax and rest your bones!" The staff? Oh, they were the friendliest bunch of people I’ve ever met at a doctor’s office! Now, brace yourselves (pun intended) here's the plot twist. You know how waiting at the doctors can feel like an eternity trapped in a time warp? Not here! My wait was shorter than a squirrel's attention span on an espresso binge. And here's the kicker - Dr. P (as he suggested) has got more skills up his sleeve than a magician at a talent show! If there were ten stars, I’d rate higher. To have my problematic hands x-rayed, ultrasound, and taken care of in one trip, is a lifesaver. He’s efficient and fast but while I waited on my ultrasound, he stopped by at least twice to let me know he didn’t forget and was waiting on the machine. Dr. P. treated me in March 2023 for a Winer's dilated pore. On June 14 the pore became red and was painful. My experience was more successful than I believed possible when we began. I have osteoarthritis in all joints of both hands. I was surprised to learn hands ware fixable! Dr Piorkowski explained the procedures to be pain free, the pain after surgery was almost nothing compared to what I lived with every day. I only used Tylenol. His therapy department is amazing as well!! After surgery and therapy five weeks ago I have use of my right hand completely and I'm Pain Free! Surgery to replace a thumb joint and other repairs on my left hand will begin in August. Thumbs needed joint replacements, trigger finger repair and repair of two joints on two fingers. This is nothing less than unbelieveable!! No one in pain needs to suffer, call Dr "P" immediately and learn your options and procedures! From personal experience you will be thrilled to learn and experience a pain free life. There are solutions I did not was possible! Dr Piorkowski explained my issues, what he would do to correct and eliminate my pain with full and far better use of my hands. original injury was due to falling into a firepit..while in recovery for this I developed massive scar tissue across the palm of my left hand,I have had 3 prior surgeries all to remove this. The thumb became contracted into the first finger being unable to use my hand. Each time I had surgery the scar tissue reformed. Dr P. was recommended to me and he said he could do what most doctors can't he did a flap reversal taking a piece of my forearm and removing the scar tissue replacing it with the piece and the artery now in the palm...and no scar tissue has come back..I have full function of my thumb and all my fingers. In mid August 2022 a Pinfish finned a finger on my left hand while fishing in the bay. The injury allowed the Vibrio flesh eating bacteria to enter my body. During the course of the infection surgeons performed numerous surgeries to stop the spread and kill the bacteria. After those efforts were completed I was referred to Dr.P. to close a large wound on the top of my left hand. I was referred to Dr. P. due to failed attempts to close the wound. Dr. P. performed a complex procedure called a Reverse Radial Forearm Skin Flap. I was informed that the procedure would change my life as to the function of my arm. Dr.P. did such a outstanding job with the procedure that the functions of my forearm and hand are improving remarkably and continue to improve daily. Thank God for Dr. Piorkowski! I have a condition known as "Drop Foot", where I could not raise my foot or toes. This seriously impaired my ability to walk or even climb stairs. I had trouble finding a doctor to help me as I have heart and vascular disease and considered a high risk with little to no results. Dr. Piorkowski was the only one that didn't turn me away and the surgery was quick, painless, with a small incision, and now I can raise my foot and walk almost back to normal after 1 week. The general prognosis for this condition is to have treatment within 90 days or risk zero recovery. It had been 6 months because no other doctors would treat me. After years of pain due to RA, steroid injections and pain meds. Dr P. discovered my bone at the base of my thumb had desegregated. He tried to do the least invasive surgery using a tendon to try and keep my thumb in place. After months of physical therapy we realized that the tendon wasn’t strong enough to hold my thumb in place. He went back to the drawing board and performed a second surgery, using pins, rods and in layman’s terms a piano wire to make my thumb useable again. Dr. Piorkowski did an outstanding job removing a large neuroma at the end of my amputated leg. This neuroma had kept me from being able to stand or walk with my prosthetic leg. I had been to see a number of specialist and they would shrug their shoulders. After my 5th MRI, Dr. Piorkowski immediately spotted a cloudy area in exactly the same place the sharp pain occurred. He explained to me that the nerve endings, after being cut, would sometimes gather in clump. Being gathered, instead of spread out, the nerve endings would deliver very sharp pain when agitated. After 2yrs and all the other specialist Dr. Piorkowski had found the cause and stated that he felt it was operable. I was so happy to know that I wasn't crazy. The operation was a success. I knew I had a problem with my elbow and it wasn’t hurting the day I went to have a steroid injection. After being seen by Dr. Piorkowski he asked me if I wanted to be in pain for the rest of my life? Of course I said no, so he will do surgery to fix the problem. Dr. Piorkowski & the staff are most efficient, courteous & professional. My diagnosis (carpal tunnel syndrome) was clearly explained as was the procedure necessary to correct the problem. My wife was given regular updates throughout the process & was given a call from Dr. Piorkowski when the procedure was finished. I am now 11 days post-op & healing nicely. I am already noticing improved strength function of the affected hand. I’m a musician & had completely lost the ability to play so I’ve already put that to the test with a better outcome than I expected. You can not find a better or more caring surgeon. I was referred by another great surgeon, Dr Roger Ostrander, because of Dr. Pirokowski's extensive training, multiple skills and knowledge. To be a hand specialist he had extensive knowledge and experience with repairing acromion bones. The repair has been perfect and with everything that was going against it healing, I can not praise Dr. Piorkowski enough and of course I praise the Master physician for the wisdom and skills my good Lord granted to Dr. Piorkowki. He is a great surgeon in my opinion, he is also caring and thoughtful, always returning my texts and calls himself. He was straightforward from the beginning with my odds of healing, as was others, and his skills allowed me to beat the odds. This is the most positive experience I've had with a physician, and I've been to several specialists. I was referred to Dr. Piorkowski for a complicated issue with my left arm that involved an uncommon bone spur and the compression of 2 nerves in multiple places. I consulted with Dr. P since he had direct experience with my specific issue (it’s not common) and found out he also is experienced working with patients on biologic drugs and with autoimmune conditions. I felt confident that he was more than competent to perform the surgery I needed in addition to managing my biologic medication during the post-operative period. My confidence was not mis-placed! Dr. Piorkowski did a flawless job in the operating room, my surgical results were best case scenario and the post-operative care I received was thorough. He kept me in therapy and followed up with me longer than usual due to the complicated nature of my case and I appreciated that very much. The extra time allowed me to get even stronger under the care and supervision of the wonderful OT department at Andrews. I also appreciated having his cell number in case I had questions or concerns throughout my time with him. I felt this was a very nice personal touch and helped me feel connected if I had a need for help or any questions. I got a referral from my PCP to an orthopedic doctor to remove the hardware from my thumb. That is when I met Dr. Piorkowski. From the first visit till the last he made me feel like I was his number one priority and that he really wanted to fix me. He wasn't scared to go in and do a revision surgery on my ulna nerve transposition. He had no idea what he was going to find when he got in there and it wasn't easy to fix. He was able to fix the issue and give me full use of my arm again with no pain. I seriously can't thank him enough for giving me my freedom back and fixing my other elbow before it got worse. I just had a very diffcult surgery preformed by Dr Piorkowski at Gulf Breeze Hospital. After weeks of consultations at his office going over all the proceedure risk and benefits. Dr took amazing amount of time with me to explain everything to the smallest detail. I just want to add this man gave me his personal cell phone number to update him on any changes as we prepared for surgery. One day before scheduled surgery I had a slight complication, I did not want to bother him it was 8 pm. But he said keep him updated so I thought I'll just try and see what happens !! Within 3 Minutes he called me. I mean really is there any one that cannot agree this man is the best !! He is able to break things down in laymans terms like no other Dr. I've ever been seen by.. I’m a weightlifter that began experiencing full blown carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands after 23 years of heavy lifting. I rarely use straps so almost all the lifting involves handgrip, which along with a genetic predisposition, probably contributed to it. I was experiencing severe numbness and tingling that would wake me up while sleeping and affect everything in daily life such as hands going numb while driving. Dr Piorkowski performed 2 surgeries separately at Andrews Institute with great success. Problem solved and no mistakes (he didn’t cut the nerve). Best hand surgeon, i dropped a pyrex dish that resulted in having what he calls a "spaghetti wrist" meaning i cut all tendons and nerves in my wrist. He repaired all tendons and nerves in my right wrist on 4-24-20 , my recovery has been long yet miraculous. He himself calls me a medical mystery, considering i cut all my nerves and tendons, i could have lost all feeling and motor skills in my hand rendering it basically useless,but big thanks to Dr.piorkowski i have full function of my right hand. I went to see Dr Piorkowski after a surgery on my thumb that did not solve the problem I was having. He took the time to sit down with me with the x-ray and explain what was needed. He performed a second surgery and the difference is amazing. In addition, he is the only physician I have had in years who actually called me at home when I had questions after surgery. If I could give Dr. Piorkowski 100 stars then I would. I met him 6 months ago after a freak accident with glass that 70% lacerated two tendons in my wrist and severed a nerve. He made a special trip to see me in the ER to look at my injury and immediately squeezed me into his schedule to operate on me within 2 hours of my accident. He is amazing. He is personable. He is intelligent, and extremely good at his job. In addition to repairing my injury quickly and perfectly, 6 months later I am nearly 100% back to normal and the scar is barely visible. Lost a finger on a boating accident while on vacation and he was the emergency hand surgeon on call. He saved what was left of my finger and kept infection out. I saw Dr. Piorkowski with regard to a knife pain in my right forearm and numbness and pain in both hands. He was able to treat me for the knife pain and I no longer have it. To start I’ve been an RN for many years so I have good basic knowledge of orthopedic surgery. The examinations with the doctor were very thorough and conducted professionally. He took plenty of time with me and answered all my questions. During our visits, what impressed me the most was he would dictate the visit while I was in the exam room. After all testing was finalized we came up with a treatment plan. I needed open carpal tunnel and trigger finger release in both hands. I had the right hand operated on first and it is stronger than ever, pain free, and no numbness or tingling. I will have the left hand done on Monday and I feel strongly that I will have the same results. I had a partial amputation of the long finger over the summer of 18’. I met Dr. Piorkowski for the first appointment he was clean cut and presented himself well. I cut the back of my hand open and the nurse at the urgent care texted him a picture for his advice, and he could see that I had cut through three tendons, and he could arrange his schedule to see me ASAP. Dr. P did a fantastic job with a moberg flap on my right thumb. The procedure was done with only local anesthesia and he shared after the surgery the steps and the procedure he did visually. I highly recommend Dr. Piorkowski for a tendon transfer surgery for radial PIN palsy. Due to a benign tumor in my radial PIN I was not able to extend my four fingers and had limited use of my thumb. Just six weeks out from surgery I have full functionality of my fingers will get more range of motion in my thumbs and wrist with continued healing and physical therapy. Hello I had cut my index finger with a chop saw destroyed the nerve. I was sent to dr. Piorkowski from the local er a day later he told me we had two options ether surgery or cut the finger off , of course I chose the surgery and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I had lacerated my left pinkie finger with a knife and sliced open my flexor tendon and partially severed the nerve. Fortunately, Dr. Priokowski was in the E.R that night and had me scheduled for surgery within a few days. I was bit by a dog and went to the ER where they put 7 stitches in my finger. Sent me home.next day it was swollen and very infected. That's when I met Dr. Piorkowski who immediatly saw me and removed my stitches cleaned the wound and dressed it. The next day my hand was much better. Highly recommend. We came to Dr. Piorkowski following a visit to the urgent care to find my daughter had severed tendons in her finger while cutting fruit. He had a great bedside manner with both me and my teen. I'm recovering from a major surgery that Dr.Piorkowski performed in October of 2016. I had a open compound fracture with my tibia and fibula that required a muscle flap and a skin flap.
