Dr. Brenda L. Wolfe, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in evidence-based treatment for eating disorders and obesity, and also offers psychotherapy for anxiety and mood disorders. While she primarily works with adults, she does accept adolescent patients struggling with eating disorders. She aims to empower all individuals she works with to break away from emotional struggles and steer their lives in personally meaningful and fulfilling directions.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McGill University and her Master of Arts and Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. After completing her studies, she worked in corporate Research & Development departments (psychology-related) before moving with her family to New Mexico. In the mid-1990s, she enrolled at the University of New Mexico, where she completed additional post-doctoral training that enabled her to sit for state licensure.
Dr. Wolfe owned and operated the Eating Disorders Institute of New Mexico for decades. Although she attempted retirement in May 2018, she quickly realized she wasn't ready to slow down and was delighted to join Sage Neuroscience Center in May 2020. She finds helping patients rethink difficult situations and reshape self-talk to create the life they want immensely rewarding.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Wolfe currently serves as volunteer faculty at the University of New Mexico Department of Psychiatry and as newsletter editor for the New Mexico Psychological Association. She has held numerous professional committee roles, including serving as President and Public Education Coordinator for the New Mexico Psychological Association and on the Executive Council of the NM State Plan for Healthier Weight.
Outside of work, Dr. Wolfe is an avid reader, ballroom dancer, and loves spending considerable time with her grandchildren.
