Dr. Mary Ann Bender is a podiatrist with Weil Foot and Ankle Institute at Rush Oak Park Hospital. She treats all conditions of the foot and ankle. Her office has convenient, free parking and in-office x-rays, MRI, and physical therapy. Dr. Bender has convenient day and evening hours.
Dr. Bender became interested in podiatry through her experiences training in figure skating for 19 years. Indeed, figure skating is a sport that is particularly hard on the feet. Dr. Bender has had three surgeries on her feet as a result of the years she spent in figure skates. She truly understands foot pain, trying different treatment options, and recovery times which allows her to relate to and understand the needs of her patients.
Dr. Bender has vast work experience in her field. She worked for JB Jenkins and Associates, a large podiatry group practice on the far South Side of Chicago for 13 years. Additionally, she served as a clinical instructor with Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University for 9 years where she worked with podiatry students to provide foot care to uninsured and homeless patients throughout Cook County. Shortly after the birth of her first daughter in 2008, Dr. Bender decided to open a podiatry practice of her own in her community of Oak Park. She operated her solo podiatry practice for 11 years prior to joining Weil Foot & Ankle. Her practice was awarded the Best Customer Service Spotlight Award by the OPRF Chamber of Commerce in 2016.
Being active in her community and profession is important to Dr. Bender. She is the Past- President of the Oak Park River Forest Chamber of Commerce serving as President in 2020 and 2021. She has chaired the Chamber’s Annual Health and Wellness Fair three times and Economic Luncheon once. In 2016, Dr. Bender received the Ambassador of the Year Award from the OPRF Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Bender is a member of the Rotary Club of Oak Park and River Forest, American Podiatric Medical Association, Illinois Podiatric Medical Association, and American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, and she is a former board member of the Horace Mann School PTO, North Avenue Business District, and her local Rotary Club.
Dr. Bender lives with her husband and two young daughters in Oak Park and enjoys traveling, reading, watching her children’s games and practices, and exercising in her free time.

Dr B and staff were efficient, good listeners, helpful and thorough. I felt like I was in good hands.
Wow from entering the office the cust/ser was good. I was greeted with communication that made the statement that i was a priority/ recognized Also, I was so impressed with the assistant was awesome!! She pronounced my name perfectly, then she smiled, and she guided me into the room, a gave a moment to sit, then she said, okay, what brings you here today. She went on to ask all the right questions when, where, who, how long, to what extent. A little later, she prepared me for the new x-ray. She brought a cover for my foot that had to touch the floor. Next she professionally instructed me how to stand, where to stand, and i as a plus size woman she maneuvered around me as though it was no problem at all, finally she placed me back N room and reminded me the specialist Dr. B. will be on her way! Last, but not leas, Dr. entered the room with this big smile with bag news I took it with a smile because she set the tone! She informed me that my foot was not fractured it was broken! Thank you

Dr. Bender was so attentive to my needs and took the time to discuss a comprehensive plan moving forward. She has a wonderful bed side manner. I would highly recommend her!
She is great professional
I like her because she personally took care of my toe nails and wants to see how my toe is healing. She gave me advice how to take care of my feet/toenails
