Very thorough and clear on explaining the medical situation & treatment

Bergsma was quite rude and condescending. When I was trying to provide him historical information from a previous provider, he cut me off to say, “look at me, I’m the expert here.” And then continued to condescend to me about how what he’s doing now is “retraining” my thinking, when I was not once disagreeing with anything he was saying because he had decided he already figured me out, when his assumptions were so far off base it was insulting. He didn’t ask questions in a clear manner, then scoffed when I didn’t give him the answer he was looking for. Honestly, I left this appointment thinking, “wow, that guy was such a jerk.” Would give 0/5 if possible.

Dr. Bergsma gave me great explanations for my pain. He didn't jump right to surgery. I like his no-nonsense approach.

Horrible bedside manner. Kind of blamed me for why they weren’t healing right - I have specifically followed my other doctor’s instructions the entire time. Made me feel like I couldn’t express how I felt - made me feel stupid. Didn’t give me any warning when he started digging out my wounds and said “yeah yeah I’m hurting you.” I felt like I was a burden being there and was so so caught off guard. Overall will never come here again.

Filthy office, no disinfection, no use of gloves, no hand washing, no cleaning of chair or X-Ray equipment, condescending attitude, asking questions & answering them before I could speak, accusing me of false behaviors

Dr Bergsma is always friendly and accommodating and has his patients best interest at heart. I am a diabetic and he has been my Foot and ankle Specialist for several years now .

He was confident, an excellent communicator, and had a great sense of humor. His diagnosis and explanation of a treatment plan was clear and made sense. He was very knowledgeable but his bedside manner was horrendous. Seemed to make no effort to build rapport with me before he started touching my feet and making accusatory statements and asking his questions.
