Derek Andreini, M.D. joins Tri-state Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in September 2025, specializing in adult reconstruction, including total knee replacement, total hip replacement, knee arthroplasty, and complex hip and knee revision surgery. Dr. Andreini was born in Wheeling, WV, and attended Linsly Academy, where he served as the captain of both the golf and tennis teams. He went on to study biochemistry at West Virginia University, graduating Summa Cum Laude and earning the prestigious "Outstanding Senior" Award.

During this time, he contributed to several book chapters and presented research at national conferences. With a highly competitive application, Dr. Andreini earned a residency position at Allegheny General Hospital, where he discovered his passion for hip and knee replacement. In addition to developing expertise in adult reconstruction, he gained comprehensive training in orthopaedic trauma, spine, upper extremity, sports medicine, and lower extremity orthopaedic conditions. As part of his residency, he also served as the orthopaedic team physician for Brentwood, Chartiers- Houston, and Bethel Park High Schools, providing care to young athletes. Upon completing his five-year orthopaedic surgery residency, he then fulfilled a fellowship in adult reconstruction at Cleveland Clinic. There, he trained with renowned surgeons, treating patients with some of the most complex hip and knee conditions from around the globe. Following his fellowship, he was offered a position at Cleveland Clinic but ultimately chose to return to Pittsburgh to be closer to family and serve the community he has always called home.
Dr. Andreini employs the latest advancements in hip and knee surgery, including robotic-assisted techniques and the direct anterior approach for hip replacement. With these minimally invasive techniques, patients are able to be discharged the same day of surgery and recover faster. He provides expert care for a wide range of conditions, such as arthritis, avascular necrosis, fracture non-unions, congenital hip dysplasia, and other hip and knee disorders.
