Dr. Daniel M. Kopolovich, M.D., is a Pittsburgh native, who joined Tri-State Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in September 2024, specializing in orthopaedic sports medicine. He is a graduate of McKeesport Area High School, he excelled in academics and sports, earning accolades in football, basketball, and track & field. While completing his undergraduate degree in history at Princeton University, he played four years as a defensive back on the varsity football team.
Dr. Kopolovich attended Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he discovered his passion for orthopaedics, working closely with the Rothman Orthopaedic Institute. His residency training in orthopaedics was at San Antonio Military Medical Center. He served nine years active duty, covering varsity sports at the United States Air Force Academy and he served at Langley Air Force Base, earning a Meritorious Service Medal.
During deployment, Dr. Kopolovich oversaw ground surgical teams and various departments, including but not limited to emergency room, pharmacy, and radiology. During time spent in Virginia, Dr. Kopolovich was also employed at a Level II trauma center for three years, covering complex orthopaedic traumas. After military service, he completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado, providing orthopaedic coverage for the United States Ski and Snowboard Team. Dr. Kopolovich has numerous publications in long-term outcomes and biomechanical studies in knee, shoulder and hip arthroscopy as well as several surgical technique papers.
Board-Certified, he scored in the 98th percentile on the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons Part I Exam and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Specializing in orthopaedic sports medicine, Dr. Kopolovich focuses on complex knee, shoulder, and hip arthroscopy, as well as shoulder arthroplasty.
He performs surgeries at in-network hospitals, surgery centers, and accepts most major insurances, including UPMC and Highmark.

I just met Dr. Kopolovich yesterday and loved him! His calm demeanor and ease in explaining my diagnosis/treatment options was quite refreshing. I will definitely be requesting him in the future as one of my Tristate doctors!
As this was my follow up appointment after surgery I must say Dr Michael Pagnotto and his surgery team has exceeded my expectation. Which had been set a high from both of my hip replacements that Dr Michael Pagnotto performed last year. My right knee replacement surgery was another professional job done with care. I believe the procedure being performed at the surgery center added to the overall experience being excellent! Thanks surgical team Pagnotto I feel blessed.
We enjoyed having Dr Pavlovic. He explained everything very well and took time with the patient. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
