I am a retired CNS/NP and found Ryan to be very good. His exam was thorough, as was his questioning covering important issues/facts related to my back problem. He took as much time as needed and listened carefully to my input. One problem I had with the practice (Atlantic Orthopedics) was extreme difficulty getting an appt. I injured my back while in SC on 2/28/24. I returned home on 3/7/24 and called the office on 3/8/24 describing moderate to severe back pain. i have been followed by this practice for at least 15 years. I was told that the earliest appt with any back ortho was April 3,2024, almost one month later. this is unacceptable. i ended up in the ER 3/10/24 in severe pain. I would like to hear back from someone about this issue. Luckily I already had an appt to see Ryan on the 12th for a knee problem which I switched to my back.

Ryan did an excellent job explaining the effects of post surgery for my hip replacement. He outlined what muscles would feel like for the next 2 month, the importance of being diligent with PT and walking, as well as what to avoid during recovery. Reviewed today’s X-Ray with me. All of my questions were answered,

Compassionate, professional. But wish I had been told about potential severe bruising after nerve block procedure - it may just be my body. Still big bruises since Feb. 14. Bruises and scratches on sites where 'novacaine' went in, not the block needle...

Was not given ANY current information about me. BUT.. rolled with the punches. PA Ryan was courteous, kind, helpful even though he was put in a bad position. He made the right phone calls and got the right connections to get me in to the doctor I am supposed to see early next week.

There was no assessment of where I was 2 wks post-op. I have done aggressive PT three times a day since day 2 post op. I have used virtually no pain meds. I have not needed any assistive device. Swelling minimal. Icing religiously 4x per day. My P Therapist is thrilled with my progress yet this PA sits down and starts lecturing me about importance of working hard. Really??? I was thrilled with the whole experience until Ryan. Right now completely demoralized. Kevin was great however.

We will not be returning for a follow-up with this PA. When asked if my child needed physical therapy he said if you want...he can go to a gym or a workout room where he can do some things. (no real direction) And the workout room at school is where the injury occurred. Mr. LaBelle had not read the notes provided before examining. When you are dealing with a child who is still growing I feel like this should have been dealt with by a professional. Not to mention his pants were ripped with his underwear showing but that is beside the point.

After being seen by Ryan I have chosen not to continue with this practice. I was directed to see Ryan after Dr Crawford was unavailable. I had seen Dr Crawford after my car accident on April 25 while still in Portsmouth Regional Hospital. I had come to the office on May 3 due to pain I was having in the back of my upper left thigh. I had been diagnosed with a fractured acetabular after my car accident. Ryan was questioning “why” I couldn’t raise my left leg from my sitting position. He came across as if he wasn’t believing me? He manually raised my leg and began manipulating it and without warning and while he had it in the air, he let it go. I was in extreme , extreme pain from his maneuver. I have no clue what his reasoning was , other than to test me? He didn’t say anything after causing me pain. I had difficulty getting up from the wheelchair and it took me 20 minutes to get out of the car once I got home. I came home crying and not understanding why ?
