Michelle Burnette, PA-C

North Carolina native, Michelle Burnette, PA-C, was born and raised in Greensboro, NC, where she developed a love for the mountains. This love brought her to Boone, N,C where she attended Appalachian State University.

During her freshman year in college, Michelle’s father was in a motor vehicle accident that almost ended his life. He eventually recovered but was in the hospital for six months. This experience solidified her desire to work in healthcare.

Michelle left Boone with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science and an amazing husband, Allen. Continuing her education, she went on to receive her Master’s degree from the Wingate University Physician Assistant program.

After graduating, Michelle began working at Cape Fear Valley Emergency Department for three years. While extremely rewarding, she knew in her heart that pediatrics was her calling and was delighted to join the Rainbow Pediatrics team in 2017.

Michelle is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants. She is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.

Michelle loves every aspect of pediatrics and has a special interest in pediatric obesity and asthma. Being able to watch and help her patients grow is important to Michelle. While giving shots is never fun, she feels blessed whenever her small patients remember her and give her a big hug when they come in for an appointment.

Michelle and her husband have two children and a miniature dachshund, Rocky. When not working, Michelle and her family enjoy visiting the mountains and hiking in their old stomping grounds. They also spend a significant amount of time at Village Baptist Church, where Allen is the children’s pastor. You can find Michelle working with the children during service!
