I waited 20 minutes past my appt time, even though I arrived 20 minutes early per the office instructions. Then he read my chart history to me. He did order a blood test and a liver scan.

Scheduled an appointment for a second opinion. He did nothing more than look at previous testing and agreed with prior opinions even though I said I don’t believe the reason for my problems has been properly discovered. He did not take my concerns seriously and “had to get going”.

I had finally gotten answers from the general surgeon and was starting to feel okay about my medical issues. Dr. Velarde constantly reminded me of everything that could go wrong in a very anxious way. He did not seem to care about me as an individual but more as notes on a piece of paper. He contradicted everything I had been told by multiple doctors before him, and did not seem interested in listening to me. He did not seem to follow realistic logic and instead seemed to try to scare me into doing whatever he said.

What I liked best was he heard me. He not only listened, but he heard me.

Literally my WORST experience with a physician in my life. I cannot believe he thought the way he spoke to me was acceptable. He told me to start fasting. Said that 99.9% of people who are plant based after optifast keep the weight off. Gave me no real options to better my situation.
