Calvin grew up in the Washington, DC area and left to turn a hobby into a career, graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1996 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and an Associate degree in Applied Arts in Illustration. After experiencing the dot-com bubble, he began to question his career path and wanted to do something more meaningful. This led him to medicine, starting with volunteering as an EMT and eventually graduating from Anne Arundel Community College in 2013 as a physician assistant, with a Master of Medical Science from St. Francis University.
