Barry was just terrific. He listened to me describe my impression of the hip replacement surgery, answered all my questions, showed me an actual socket and metal stem just like what they used for my surgery (very cool), and was very friendly. It was an excellent visit!

Barry was wonderful. He explained my surgery to both myself and my husband with a sample of the prosthetic hip. He answered all my questions (sometimes even before I asked them). We were very impressed with him.

I’ve seen Barry just yesterday for a follow up for my back surgery ( preformed by Dr Sutherland) . He is patient explaining everything, even had a plastic couple pieces of spine in his pocket so he could show me what was done during surgery. This was my second surgery on my back. I have a pretty good understanding but when he pulled those pieces out it really made me understand more. I can’t recommend Atlantic orthopedics highly enough. From the front desk to Pa’s tech’s everyone seems happy with their work place. The competency of this practice is amazing.

Barry spent a long time with me listening to my concerns and questions and was able to answer everything with great detail. I really appreciate the time he took to discuss my case and review my films. A very experienced PA!

He refused any type of treatment for my back pain. Told me to lose weight. Then just lectured me about my weight. Didn't care that I already lost 50 pounds! I see a lot of people like you he said! Really!! WOW. He's attitude towards me was lacking compassion. Like I was not even a human being. I wish I had recorded the visit, so I could report him .

Barry is really such a good guy to talk to!! He gave me the name of a local person who makes orthotics so I can get them made without having to drive to Peabody, Mass. I was soooo happy to get this information. My insurance Co. Won’t pay for them unless I have a current prescription & now I do. They cost $550 without this prescription & driving 1 1/2 hours to get them made is crazy!! Thank you Barry!! I hope they give you a HUGE RAISE!! U deserve it!!

I have never heard from or met Barry. I had a total hip replacement at Portsmouth Hospital, yesterday, 4/6/22. I was told that follow up care would be arranged, but was told today, post-op, that they were unable to do so. I never saw my surgeon or the PA after surgery and received no post operative instructions beyond the brochure that was mailed to me a month ago. I made 3 calls and left messages with medical assistants with a medical concern I had post op today and did not receive a return call, even 5 hours later. Finally, I spoke to a receptionist, Angela, I believe, who told me that the doctor and MA's were "busy with patients" and I need to be patient and not to expect a call back for up to 24 hours. Yet, I was a surgical patient less than 24 hours ago and have been ignored. Needless to say, I feel abandoned and deeply disappointed by my experience with your practice, surgeon and staff. I will share my experience with anyone who asks, including my referring physician.

While he was willing to answer questions, he lacks engagement with the patient. Sadly, he is abrupt and dismissive. He actually emphasized not making another appt with Dr. Sutherland because there are few appts available!! I just had surgery and was in for the post-op visit at the time. Why would he discourage a patient from setting another appt? The healing process is several weeks and one would think Dr Sutherland would want to make note of the progress being made. I was dumbfounded. Love Dr Sutherland and know he truly cares. This is the second time I've met with PA Cusson. His arrogance and lack of concern are troubling. This is my quality of life at stake and hanging in the balance! I will refuse to see him again. Sorry, just telling you the truth.
