Debra's explanation, expectation, and affirmation are greatly appreciated. After my total knee replacement everything hurt, so knowing what I was doing, why I was doing it, and knowing what results to expect from it, all while being reassured that my knee will get better has made this difficult process something that I actually look forward to.

Telling a patient you can't help them until they lose weight is unproductive and obviously hurtful. If you are unwilling to work on larger patients, inform them from the outset rather than wasting their time.
