Dr. Nigenda Griffin, O.D. was born in St. Kitts, West Indies and raised in St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English, Language, and Literature from the University of Southern California. Following her graduation, she returned to her hometown to pursue a career as a high school teacher.
She later returned to school to become a doctor and graduated from Northeastern State University of Oklahoma College of Optometry in 2020.

Dr. Griffin truly goes above and beyond for her patients. She is attentive, caring, and takes the time to explain the health of my eyes. I always leave my appointments feeling heard, valued, and genuinely cared for. I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful eye doctor!

My rating is on my overall experience and not just a reflection of Dr. Griffin. I did not wait long for the appointment to start. But once the tests were done, I sat much longer than the 10 mins for the doctor to come in to my room. The room was freezing. Very uncomfortable.
The Doctor was nice enough but the total visit was a waste of my time.
You dilated my eyes and sent me out into one of brightest days with nothing for protection, I had basic sunglasses but driving was a challenge for my 60 min ride home. Most places provide something when they dilate your eyes.
The staff was pleasant.

Very professional ... and she answered all of my son's concerrning questions with no problem leaving him with peace of mind
Dr. Nigenda Griffin, O.D. was born in St. Kitts, West Indies and raised in St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English, Language, and Literature from the University of Southern California. Following her graduation, she returned to her hometown to pursue a career as a high school teacher.
She later returned to school to become a doctor and graduated from Northeastern State University of Oklahoma College of Optometry in 2020. Dr. Griffin also completed a clinical externship with Eyecare Associates of South Tulsa where she was trained in ocular disease and refractive surgery co-management.
After graduating she worked at Oklahoma Eye Institute for the past three years. At OEI she provided pre and post operative cataract examinations, comprehensive medical eye exams, performed minor in-office procedures, laser procedures and treatment of ocular diseases. Her areas of specialty are: Ocular Disease, Laser Refractive Surgery Management, Pre- and Postoperative Surgical Care, General Eye Exam.
She is a member of the National Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians and Texas Optometric Association. She is also a member of the new NBEO Part III PEPS Scenario Development Committee. She has appeared as a guest speaker on the 3Percent Podcast and at the Lynn Institute.
During her free time, she enjoys traveling and exploring new places. Dr. Griffin loves to dance, and since she’s Caribbean she can’t resist a good Caribbean festival. She is looking forward to seeing everything Texas has to offer. She also has a teenage son, Jordan.
