I really didn’t know what to expect with this being my first time seeing Dr, Bekendam. I think he sensed that and made a special effort to make me feel comfortable and at ease during my visit. I also liked how positive and encouraging he was.

Dr Bekendam is low-key, and very honest. He didn’t super sell on anything. He listened to me (I feel valued), he stated the facts and he exceeded my expectations! It seems scar tissue is an inevitable outcome to cataract surgeries and quite common. Instead of rushing through a solution, Dr Bekendam will continue to follow up post surgery to be sure I have the best results. Patient follow up is amazing! He leaves nothing to chance, very thorough and very thoughtful.

Dr. Peter Bekendam currently serves as Medical Director for Pacific Eye Institute and has been a part of our team since 2016. In addition, he is excited to expand his surgical practice to include operating out of the practice’s new High Desert Surgery location in Apple Valley, starting in the summer of 2022.
In addition to his role as a practicing ophthalmologist, Dr. Bekendam currently serves as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California, where he earned his own Medical Degree in 2004.
Dr. Bekendam is the Founder and President of Sight Restoration International, a non-profit organization which works to bring vision-restoration surgery to patients in developing countries. He was also honored to be elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society while in medical school.
