I had 65 years worth of history to explain to Dr. Bekendam about my eyes, and I had to make it thorough, but quick.
Dr. Bekendam listened to, and understood every word. After examining my eyes, he came up with a professionally creative plan of treatment that I'd thought was impossible. I had to hug him because he is truly amazing.

Dr. Peter Bekendam currently serves as Medical Director for Pacific Eye Institute and has been a part of our team since 2016. In addition, he is excited to expand his surgical practice to include operating out of the practice’s new High Desert Surgery location in Apple Valley, starting in the summer of 2022.
In addition to his role as a practicing ophthalmologist, Dr. Bekendam currently serves as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California, where he earned his own Medical Degree in 2004.
Dr. Bekendam is the Founder and President of Sight Restoration International, a non-profit organization which works to bring vision-restoration surgery to patients in developing countries. He was also honored to be elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society while in medical school.
