I was seen 45 minutes late for an 8:45 am appointment. Went for a skin tab on my eyelid (I made it very clear and I assumed it was written down when I made the appointment) and she wanted to do a full vision exam which I had the week before at another clinic. She said she “had to do her job”. I asked her if she could just take care of skin tab and she said she couldn’t, asked me if I wanted to cancel this appointment I said yes). The she said she needed to refer me to another doctor at the clinic for the skin tab. I’m having it taken care of elsewhere.

Dr. Heersink was very professional, thorough, and personable. This was my first time meeting her, and I was confident in her knowledge, the way that she interacted with me and performed her evaluation.

Disappointed with this visit. Long wait to be called in to the doctor after doctor had been standing in the hall chatting with other employees for 15-20 minutes. Then she had 3 patients stacked up in exam rooms waiting to see her. I was number 3, last to be seen. When she came in she did not explain my condition to me very well and suggested surgery would remove the cyst. When she tried to look in my eyes she said my eyes were not dilated so she couldn’t examine them today- I could have the drops put in now and wait longer or come back another day to do it all over again. After talking to the office manager about my frustrating experience SHE explained more to me about my eye condition than the doctor did. Not cool

Dr. Heersink received her undergraduate degree and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After an internship at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, she completed both her residency and cornea fellowship at the number one training program in the country for ophthalmology, Wills Eye Hospital. During those years of training, she was fortunate to learn from world-renowned leaders in the eye care field.
Dr. Heersink is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Heersink was born in Alabama but spent part of her childhood in the Netherlands. She was accepted into medical school as a high school student and graduated college a year early. She has spent a significant portion of her education abroad through volunteering or work-study programs and has devoted time to ophthalmology mission work internationally.
