Aneesha Ahluwalia, M.D.

Aneesha Ahluwalia, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in cornea, cataract, and refractive surgery . She is dedicated to providing personalized, evidence-based care and helping patients achieve their best possible vision through advanced medical and surgical treatments. Dr. Ahluwalia has a special interest in cataract surgery, corneal disease, complex anterior segment care, and refractive surgery, with a focus on optimizing both visual outcomes and the patient experience.

Originally from Minnesota, Dr. Ahluwalia earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology-Neuroscience from Yale University, graduating magna cum laude with Distinction and receiving a prestigious award for exemplary community service. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Yale School of Medicine, where she graduated cum laude and was awarded the Surgery Prize for Outstanding Research.

She completed her ophthalmology residency at Stanford University, where she received comprehensive training in medical and surgical ophthalmic care. She then pursued advanced fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at Stanford University under the mentorship of nationally recognized leaders in the field.

Dr. Ahluwalia is actively involved in ophthalmic research and academic ophthalmology. Her research has focused on cataract surgery outcomes, refractive surgery, patient-reported outcomes, corneal disease, macular degeneration, and ophthalmology workforce studies. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters, and scientific presentations at national meetings, including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), and the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting.

Her contributions to the field have been recognized through multiple research awards and she currently serves on the AAO Annual Meeting Refractive Surgery Program Committee. In addition to her research, she has contributed to ophthalmic education through curriculum development, teaching medical students and residents, and serving as a mentor throughout her academic career.

Dr. Ahluwalia is fluent in English and Hindi and is conversational in Spanish and Punjabi.

Outside of work, Dr. Ahluwalia enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
