Skyler Gallegos, FNP-C, graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pikes Peak Community College in 2021. She has been working in healthcare for almost 10 years now, first working in a variety of areas, including radiology nursing, wound care, and labor and delivery as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Skyler started her nursing career specializing in a Progressive Care Unit. In January 2023, Skyler decided to go back to school to become a nurse practitioner and graduated in August 2025 with her Master’s in Nursing.
Additionally, Skyler has been nominated twice for the Denver Regional Nurses’ Association Nightingale Award in 2023 and 2025. She was also awarded employee of the month at her entire hospital in 2022.
She was also granted an opportunity to complete a research-based thesis, analyzing the knowledge and attitudes of adults with type 1 and 2 diabetes about continuous glucose monitors (CGM). She is hoping to use this information to expand CGM access to all diabetics.
Skyler has known for a while that she wanted to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner. After watching her father battle Leukemia and personal experiences with type 1 diabetes, she felt that this was her calling to help our communities.
Skyler’s philosophy of nursing is to provide optimal patient care through education, autonomy, and holistic measures while offering science-based treatment modalities when needed. Skyler is very interested in endocrinology topics and is a member of the Endocrine Nurses Society.
In her free time, Skyler enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, gardening, drawing, watching “The Office,” and playing with her pets. She has a golden retriever puppy that she is training to work as a therapy dog in healthcare settings.
