Shane Gallagher, PMHNP-BC

Shane Gallagher, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who practices in New York City. He has experience working in two large academic medical centers in Manhattan and is faculty at the NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing. He has expertise in treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, ADHD and psychotic disorders. He has extensive experience in providing care to individuals with addiction/substance use disorders, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

His goal in working with patients is to understand each patient’s unique story and development to create an individualized treatment plan. This plan may include psychotherapy, medication management or both. He believes that mental health treatment should be pragmatic, evidence-based and collaborative.

His style in working with patients is eclectic and largely draws from principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). He prioritizes the goals of patients so that the care they receive is holistic and draws upon their existing strengths.

He is board-certified as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and licensed to practice in New York State.
