Sara Cowan, CRNP, CPNP- PC, started her nursing career in pediatrics in 2015 as a registered nurse and now as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. She received her B.A. in Biology from DePauw University and continued onto Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing where she received her BSN and MSN. Before joining Frederick County Pediatrics, she worked at a pediatric practice in Montgomery County for 2 years. Sara has always had a passion for pediatric healthcare and her special interests include adolescents and mental health.
Sara was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and has lived in Maryland since she graduated college. She and her husband recently welcomed a baby boy and have put down roots in Mount Airy. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, crocheting and enjoying the outdoors!
Sara is a compassionate and knowledgeable provider. She takes the time to make a connection with my son, never dismisses anything he may want to chat about, and makes him feel as comfortable as possible. Her knowledge and compassion are exceptional.
Sara is an exceptional pediatrician, and we are so grateful to have her caring for our daughter. As a first-time mom, I truly appreciate how attentive she is, how thoroughly she answers my questions, and how she takes the time to ensure I feel informed and confident in my daughter’s care. She takes every concern seriously and makes me feel heard and supported at every visit. She is also wonderful with my daughter and always makes her feel comfortable. I highly recommend Sara to any family looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive pediatrician.
