Sandra Matteson, FNP-C is a Family Nurse Practitioner serving patients of all ages at Scenic Rivers Health Services’ Cook clinic. Originally from western Wisconsin, Sandra moved to the Iron Range in 2012 while pursuing her nursing education and quickly fell in love with the area’s strong communities and outdoor lifestyle.
Sandra earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Public Health from The College of St. Scholastica and completed her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner program with high honors in 2025. She completed her residency with Essentia Health Duluth and Boise Forte Health Services in Tower.
Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Sandra worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant beginning at age 16. She has over 10 years of experience as an RN working in acute care, pediatrics, hematology and oncology. She has a special interest in Pediatrics, ENT, acute conditions, and chronic disease management.
Sandra’s approach to care is rooted in compassion, respect, and empowerment. She believes every patient deserves individualized, judgment-free care that aligns with their personal health goals and values.
Outside of work, Sandra enjoys spending time with her four children, fishing, reading, exploring the outdoors, and volunteering in community health programs. One thing patients may enjoy knowing about her: she has a duck named “Butt-Quack.”
