April Greenway, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is originally from Henderson, NC, earned her first bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature from North Carolina State University in Raleigh before pivoting to nursing later in life. While raising two children, April pursued her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Winston Salem State University, launching her nursing career in the Orthopedic trauma operating room at WakeMed.
Her trajectory evolved into the CardioThoracic ICU at WakeMed, where she navigated the complexities of critical care. When cardiac surgeries were paused during the pandemic, she accepted an assignment in the COVID-19 ICU at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC. This challenging period reinforced her belief in the power of lifestyle factors such as nutrition, exercise, and holistic practices to prevent illness and enhance overall well-being.
Fueled by this experience, April completed her Master of Science in Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner while also working in orthopedic trauma surgery on travel nurse assignments at Duke University and UNC Hospitals.

The Dr was very helpful and gave me the chance to get which way I wanted to go with the medication. The shots she prescribed were very effective and helped with my pain relief!!!
April had the absolute best bedside manner, she actually listened to me. Moving forward I only want to see April, I highly recommend her!
great care and understanding more of what is wrong with me and what is needed
Very personable and knowledgeable. Made me feel right at ease despite the circumstances.
April and her team provided extraordinary care. I came into the office after a car accident the night before in extraordinary pain. April evaluated my pain and made treatment recommendations which included next steps as well as prescriptions to alleviate the suffering. The potential prognosis isn't what I was expecting but I know that I am good hands. I would highly recommend Orthopaedic Specialists of North Carolina.
Loved! She is a person I’d love to hang around with! She is smart and funny! Knew exactly what I needed!
She was fantastic and clearly explained everything!
April was so kind, and very thorough.
Good Shot
Don’t let her beauty fool you…she’s as intelligent as she is pretty. Kind, thoughtful and understands that we like to do things as holistically as we can. As a nurse, I saw she asked very thought provoking questions to my daughter who is special needs. Putting us at ease is exactly what we needed.
