Patient care is our primary responsibility, and all decisions made at OMG are centered around this goal. We strive to help one another, cover each other when needed, provide assistance both in the office setting and operating rooms, and have created wonderful personal relationships outside of work that continue to mature and flourish. This unique working environment, firstborn under Dr. Stuart Goldsmith all of those years ago, now emanates throughout the entire company.

This unique working environment, firstborn under Dr. Stuart Goldsmith all of those years ago, now emanates throughout the entire company.
The culture of Orthopaedic Medical Group was born over 45 years ago when Dr. Stuart Goldsmith created a company and chose that name, with those now famous initials – OMG. The third word in our name – GROUP – truly encapsulates our mission statement and primary goal of creating a partnership of healthcare providers to deliver the highest level of care to all of our patients.
In 2008, after completing his residency, Dr. Scott Goldsmith joined his father in practice. The two formed a partnership with the goal of providing the best orthopaedic care in Tampa Bay. They quickly expanded into the Brandon and Plant City area, providing much-needed orthopedic services to local hospitals that had minimal access to this type of care.
In 2012, the late Dr. Jeffrey Watson joined the practice after completing a distinguished career with the United States Air Force Base in Tampa. Dr. Watson quickly embraced the OMG culture, and through his entrepreneurial talents, helped create a multitude of avenues to further the growth of the company. Dr. Watson reached out to a former colleague, Dr. Becker, who he had trained with at the University of Maryland. Dr. Becker joined the practice in 2013, creating a four-man team committed to providing patients with high-quality healthcare. New office openings, increased staff, improved technology, and the firm commitment to the pre-existing culture of hard work, patient care, and constant availability led to continued opportunities for growth and expansion in the Brandon, Plant City, and Tampa markets.
Dr. Butler, Dr. Jester, and Dr. Sando joined the practice in 2015, creating additional opportunities for growth within the company. Their combined expertise also allowed OMG to continue providing the best possible service to our patients. These physicians were instrumental in opening office locations in the Winter Haven (2016), Riverview (2016), Brandon Healthplex (2017), and St. Petersburg (2017) markets, allowing OMG to further extend into the community.
More recently, OMG has continued to add orthopedic surgeons, and new specialties to strengthen the group. Dr. Donaldson, who specializes in shoulder and elbow pathologies joined the group in 2018. Dr. Nguyen, who specializes in wrist, hand & elbow pathologies joined the group in 2019. Also in 2019, OMG added a podiatry service line with the addition of Dr. Patrick Donovan.
Also in 2021, Orthopaedic Medical Group finalized the building of our Fishhawk Complex, which houses our entire administration, billing, workman’s compensation, and surgical coordination departments. The Fishhawk Complex is also home to a large physician’s office, physical therapy, and a state-of-the-art surgical suite. The addition of this amazing facility allows to provide our patients with comprehensive orthopedic care and return them to safe and active lifestyles as quickly as possible.
In 2022, OMG expanded its services once again to include neurosurgery with the addition of Dr. Clayton Bauer, who specializes in the treatment and management of spine disorders.
OMG once again expanded in 2023 with the addition of Dr. Nick Sexton, who specializes in sports medicine and general orthopedics. Orthopaedic Medical Group also opened its doors to patients in the Sun City, and Wesley Chapel area during this year. The addition of these facilities allows OMG to treat patients in 9+ locations throughout the Tampa Bay Area. In addition to these offices, we offer physical therapy services at 3+ locations.
Although the history of OMG has experienced multiple office expansions and the addition of several experienced physicians, the mission and values of OMG remain the same- to treat patients with the highest level of orthopedic care possible while demonstrating unwavering dedication to personal integrity, honesty, and ethics.
